Picket Fences! Part 47

At Rhys' place a few days later . . .

Rhys called his grandfather Joseph. . .

"Can you come over. My other two sons are here and they want to meet you."

"Thank you for inviting me. I'll be right over."

When Joseph arrived a few minutes later Rhys greeted him with a friendly hug.

"These are my boys", said Rhys.

"That's Kevin, Ryan who you already know and my youngest son Noah", said Rhys, "Boys meet your great-grandfather Joseph."

Joseph gave each of his great-grandsons a friendly hug.

"Come sit down Grandfather", said Rhys.

Joseph spent an enjoyable afternoon getting to know his son, grandson and his three great-grandsons.

When Joseph said he had to go home, Rhys and then Ryan hugged him goodbye.

He left to go home just before dark. He had to start preparing his sermon for Sunday morning.

Meanwhile across the street at Mary Lou and Peter's house . . .

Today was their youngest daughter Carrie's birthday. She came to her cake.

She made a wish and blew out the candles.

Nathan Martin, Julie, Mary Lou and Peter cheered.

Then Carrie cheered as

She grew up into a cute teenager.

She grabbed a huge slice of her birthday cake.

Mary Lou and Peter each grabbed a huge slice.

Julie and Nathan went outside and cuddled in the porch swing.

"I've always loved you Julie", he said.

"Even when you beat me up at Arlene's teenage birthday party?", she teased, nuzzeling his neck.

"Yeah, even then", he laughed.

He gave her a romantic kiss.

"There's something I want to ask you", said Nathan, "Stand up."

Julie stood up and Nathan bent down on one knee.

He held up a beautiful diamond ring.

"Julie, will you be engaged to me?", he asked.

She admired the ring while Nathan waited for her answer.

"YES!", she said.

"I love you Nathan", she said.

"I love you, too", he said.

At Jonathan and Shannan's place Saturday, it was time for the twins' birthday.

Jonathan brought Scott to his cake and Shannan brought Sean to his.

They helped the toddlers blow out the candles while . . .

The invited guests tooted the horns and twirled the clappers.

Then Sean and Scott did the "toddler dance".

They both grew up into cute childern.

And they both grabbed a huge slice of their birthday cake.

This is Scott.

This is Sean.

They posed for the obligatory twins' photograph.

Which they both agreed was silly.
