I've always wanted stairs that match the "Distressed Floorboards" that come with the game, but somehow they refused to magically appear on my harddrive, so I finally recoloured them myself. And some others as well, while I was at it -- I'm tired of always using the same two floors only because there's no stairs to go with the other ones. I like wood floors, and in my universe, stairs are made of the same wood as the floor and not some other random substance.
These are recolours of Numenor's Wooden Modular Stairs (required); they will also work on Reyn's open underneath version (optional).
Part 1: Distressed Stairs! Five recolours in varying states of decay that can be applied alternatingly for a proper used look.
Part 2: Mystery Wood! These match a beautiful dark wood floor by Holy Simoly that you can find on this page (the one on top left, "Large Dark"). Also in five different versions, because this is old wood and won't look the same on every step.
Part 3: Light Wood! Four recolours -- same texture, different shades -- in two flavours each (plain wood and with white sideboards) that match various Maxis floors.
Textures of the light and mystery wood stairs are cobbled together from Maxis and Holy Simoly textures respectively; the ones on the distressed stairs ended up being 99,5% painstakingly handcrafted.
Please note that all of these are high-resolution textures, twice the normal size -- my very lame computer has no problem with this, so I assume the rest of the world won't either. I did this because the texture is stretched over the top of the mesh (great idea!), which makes it look rather shitty and quite impossible to match a non-stretched floor. On the closeup screenshot of the dark wood stairs you can somewhat see the effect that this has (the stairs on the left are the Maxis default) -- in game it's a lot more obvious, even with a stone age graphics card like mine.
You can do whatever you want with this. If you reupload it, please link back to this thread. Please respect that I don't take requests.

Here are some matching fences, gates and columns that use the exact same textures as the distressed and lightwood stairs in this post.

Thanks to Numenor for making stairs recolourable in the first place, and for this idiotproof tutorial on how to do so.

This is a new mesh recolour, and means that you will need to download the particular mesh itself in order for this to show up in your game. See the Meshes Needed section or read the text for more information.
