Updated: 6th Mar 2010 at 10:33 AM - (Fixed master bedroom end table placement)
Edit: Fixed an issue with the placement of the end tables for the master bedroom (the toffee coloured one). Not a major issue, but during a more thorough play test, I found out they were too close to the bed and the sims couldn't use it. If you have the older file, just hold down ALT while moving the tables back a smidge, it should let you place them.

Greetings simmers! For a while I was discouraged from taking up my creative mantle again, but I'm like a rubber ball most of the time and I keep bouncing back, especially when I have a point to prove. Confused? Read the brief!

Brief:
After having received a comment about a previously designed house's inflated price and its lack of a suitable garage, I set my mind to meeting the challenge of creating a family house which includes in the structural plans a seamless garage or enclosed parking space, while keeping the overall property price tag under §200,000.

Demographic:
With its slightly cosmopolitan flair, the house is most suitable for a modernist family with a healthy bank balance, an appreciation for sleek lines, and a fondness for an Asian flair where landscaping is concerned.

Real Estate Information:
Lot Size: 30 x 30
Price (U): §112,870
Price (F): §187,870

The open-plan living room, which shares the ground floor living space with the kitchen and dining bar, enjoys the warming touch of a wood-burning fire for the cool evenings. The almost minimalist feel to its design gives it a sense of tranquility, especially when one can spy glimpses of the bamboo growing in the garden through the windows.

Being that the kitchen/dining space is open onto the lounge, it provides a sense of familial connection, whether members of the family are cooking, eating, watching television, or lounging after a hard day's work.

Pictured above is one of the bedrooms on the first floor of the house, designed for an older teen or young adult, with an almost coastal theme in cool aquas and creams.

A back view of the house showcasing the pièce de résistance, namely the gorgeous pool and garden pavilion combo. A family could enjoy a garden barbecue, or invite friends over for a pool party, or perhaps do both!

Custom/Downloaded Content:
You must have World Adventures to play this house for furniture/landscaping reasons. Apart from the aforementioned, I'm quite certain that I purposefully didn't use any external custom content than what is available in the base game and the expansion.

Special Notices:
1) Play tested 'questionable & tricksy' corners and item placements, things should work normally and behave themselves. If not, please let me know!
2) PICTURED CAR IS NOT INCLUDED.
3) Your sims need to inspect the hidden door leading to the treasure room to be able to use it, once they've discovered the mechanism, use the door with walls up so you can actually click on it.
4) There are two chests in the secret treasure room that can be used for a sim's phat lewts. Design suggestion: you can get rid of the statues/decor in the treasure room and just stack a crap-ton of precious metal bars, that would look really awesome I think!
5) If you don't want to keep closing the secret door yourself, remember to set it to auto-close, you'll need to have walls up to be able to click the door and change its settings.
6) The wine cellar should be spacious enough to accommodate a nectar-making machine. Or that extra space could be used for something else if nectar isn't your sims' thing.

Additional Comments:
I HATE STAIRCASES! *pantpantpant*. Okay now that that's out of my system, I think we can move on to better things! This house was something of a personal challenge, one I feel I succeeded at, and now I feel a lot better about myself and my abilities! Funnily enough, this house only took two days' worth of dedication to complete, as opposed to my other WA dwelling. I thought the title was rather clever, please don't bust my bubble of happiness and tell me it's too cheesy *sniffle*.
