I present the third element necessary for creating Decks What Match: Fences. I discovered in the process of making these that fences are a pain in the butt, especially because the original textures on two of these were a mess, with nasty stray pixels all over the place once recolored, pixels that took some effort to track down in the texture images. But in the end, I think they were worth the effort. So, in this download, you will find the four Maxis fence styles that match the four modular stairs that I recolored, each in the same 20 colors that match the stairs, which in turn match the five Maxis wood floors that I recolored. Confused? Don't worry about it. Just mix and match to your heart's content!

However, since fences can't really be recolored but can only be cloned and then retextured, be aware that this download can potentially put a whopping EIGHTY new fences into your Build Catalog, and you might not want to do that. So unless you're obsessive like me, choose the styles/colors you want wisely. To that end, have some pics.

In the two pics below, I've split the 20 colors in the palette across the four fence styles. Each fence of course comes in all 20 colors shown, not just the five that ended up on that particular fence style.

Here are the basic Wooden Fences (that match the basic deck stairs) and the Chic Fences (that match the Chic Stairs). Both of these items are from the base game.

Here are the Gelander or Storybook Fences (that match the Flight of Fancy Stairs) and the "Classical Ascension" Fences (which match the Euro Stairs). Both of these require the Open For Business EP, since these fences came with that pack.

Then, to demonstrate how my cunning master plan is coming together and to show how the items I've recolored to date match and work together to make a deck, here are some pics of a little "dummy" deck in each of the recolored styles:

I've arranged this monster so that you download each of the fence styles separately, mostly because two of these require an EP that not everyone will have. The package files within the rar files have all been compressorized as well, to be as kind to your Downloads folder as possible. The files are all clearly named so that you can select those that you want to keep and chuck the rest out the nearest airlock. Of course, each of these fences has its own unique GUID as well, so they will not overwrite the original Maxis fences or any other objects you may have downloaded, even if you recklessly dump all 80 of them into your game.

Next up: Columns. Lots of columns, including some connecting ones because...because. I thought they were done, actually, but when I went to take some pics, I discovered that the column colors are off for some reason, all lighter than the other deck pieces across the board, and I can't figure out why for the life of me. So, I need to futz with them a bit more. After that, it's on to windows and doors. And "above-ground" hot tubs, so that they can match your decks, too. Because God forbid that your hot tub should clash with your deck...
