When I first discovered the
house I used for inspiration and sent it in to
Old House Dreams I wasn't too keen on it, but I could certainly appreciate how unique a home it was. But I didn't know any of its history. Then recently, inspired by
tylersada's
Down Home Cracker House and wanting to create something historical from Florida, I stumbled upon its history and an older photo of it in a book. This inspired me to start recreating it in the Sims. However, its hexagonal design made it almost impossible to recreate faithfully, so I had to make it octagonal and add a rear wing and transepts to make it more livable.
My version of the house has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 2 reception rooms and a kitchen, as well as 2 porches; one of which spans both stories.
The house was built on a 20 by 30 lot that costs 62,692 Simoleons furnished and 37,102 Simoleons unfurnished.
I'd like to thank everyone over at CFF who helped me overcome the issues I had when creating this home; especially
cutsocks,
Volvenom,
Johnny Bravo,
lulume,
SimmyRN,
alverdine and
k2m1too.
I also hope that one day the real Tompkins-Plymel house is restored to its former glory, as well as all the other historical home in need of t.l.c. in that quaint and beautiful town of Jasper, Florida.
