Today I'm sharing the kyo-machiya I made for one of my families.

To be honest, I don't know almost anything about Japanese culture, but wanted a traditional Japanese home for my Sims in the new world that comes with Snowy Escape.

After some research, I discovered the machiyas, and more particularly the kyo-machiya: machiyas specific to Kyoto. I immediately found them magnificent and it was decided: I will make a kyo-machiya for my new family!

Three days of research later to learn more about the kyo-machiyas (how are they built, why are they this way, what is their history, what are their peculiarities, etc), I started to build with the objective of making a house as realistic as possible despite the limits of the game. And, voila!

I recommend this short report on the kyo-machiyas, which taught me a lot, and that's where the floorplan I used for my house comes from.

Obviously, Sims are fortunate enough to have larger lots than you can get in real life when living in a city like Kyoto, so they will be lucky enough to have a garden and side windows, which is probably the least realistic thing about this build. But good for them!

Finally, I am very satisfied with the result, and I find it very pleasant to live, and to play.

Two bedrooms are left empty: they will be used by my Sims couple's children when they have them, but at the moment they don't have any, so I didn't need to furnish them. Do what you want with it! One of the bedrooms serves as an office, and the other is the master bedroom.

I hope that you'll like it !

If you want the same hood deco as pictured, you should place it here :

And as usual : don't forget to enter the bb.moveobjects cheat before placing the lot.
