Hello and welcome!
The original Countryside Cottage was the first build I uploaded here over a year ago and every time I came across it, I couldn't help but cringe at how weird it turned out. If you've ever tried recreating a real-life building in a game, you know that struggle of balancing accuracy with aesthetics, and somewhow I kinda failed both. I mean, it's not
terrible and I don't
hate it, it's just that apparently I tried so hard to fit in all of the stuff from the real-life cottage that I completely messed up the size and shape of the house. What I do hate is the garden though, it was begging for a renovation.
So this time, I kind of switched my priorities and gave it my all to make it look good while still keeping at least some resemblance to the real house.
Here's the list of the changes I've done:
- While the layout remained mostly unchanged, I had to shrink the size of the house. As a result, I also had to change the shape of the roof to make the house feel more cohesive. This was the most time-consuming part of the process because things that work perfectly in real life make absolutely no sense in the game;
- All the doors, windows, floors and wall coverings were replaced with the ones made by Honeywell, plus I used pretty much every type of exterior decorations from their Bespoke Build Set because those things make everything look better;
- Most of the furniture and its placements had to be redone as the original setup was neither attractive nor accurate to the original;
- The garden got a MASSIVE makeover to make it look more realistic. Now it's a perfect blend of how it looks irl and my artistic vision of how I wish it will be done some day;
- I also added an outdoor shower (because there is one) and a garage (because
I wish there was one).
Now when we're done with the changes, here's what the lot can offer now with its fresh new look:
- It's still a two-story house with four bedrooms and one bathroom (plus an outside toilet and shower). It's perfect for an elderly couple who have their kids and grandkids over every now and then;
- On the outside there is a patio for gathering over some tea with biscuits or a barbecue, a basketball court, a tiny pool for toddlers, a small pond, a garage, a couple of benches to relax on and enjoy the greenery, plenty of space for gardening, and a shed to store all those gardening tools;
- The lot size is 30x60, the price is 151.661.
- Plenty of CC used, so don't forget to check the CC Required section. The only thing you won't find there is the
White Roof Trim Defaults by Phaenoh since having one is not nessessary, but it can be seen in the screenshots.
Overall I'm happy with how this renovation turned out and I hope I won't feel so embarassed every time I stumble upon the original version now that I have shared this one lol.
Have a nice one!
