Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
Hi everyone! It's my first upload here, made mostly because of my need to get the rid of weird Maxis name combinations and add a dark twist to my game.

That mod COMPLETELY REPLACES original names in the game, except names of already created sims. Any new generated sim will have name from this mod.
You can have only one name replacement!
Surely works with English game version, but one of my testers said it works fine with other game versions too.
Shouldn't conflict with any other mod.

It's a mod made with thinking about victorian England, but can also be used in any setting you like.

I have absolutely nothing against other cultures and people from other countries - it's just a random idea for a mod, probably other, more "ethnic" name mods will be available soon.

What my mod includes:

- Classic and everlasting names (mostly European)
- Darker names, taken mostly from literature
- Plenty of mythology names - mostly greek and roman
- Some common names from around the world
- Alternative variants for names (e.g. Alice/Alicia, Anne/Anna)
- Historical and actual last names, mostly english and english-sounding

Some other possible name combinations:
Female: Anne Nightingale, Morgana Blackwood, Athena Gale, Electra Raines, Tristana Hale, Cornelia Wycke, Mauve Conrad, Jacquelyne Bonnet, Storm Johnson, Rosalie Huntley, Alice Green, Henriette Cross, Daphne Harper, Angelica Lovelock, Myrtle Douglas, Martha Winsbury
Male: Jack Hunter, Remus Crowley, Reginald Fawkes, Derek Sherlock, Louis Middleton, Sterling Corte, Lysander Devoe, Forrest Cornwell, Gabriel Noctus, Seth Knight, Cedric Crawford, Carlisle Willis, Edgar Burton, Sabre Lioncourt, Ruben Hawke, Castor Willis

Notes:
Please admit that some names on the mod list are intentionally doubled to add more realism (It happens quite rarely in game, but is possible.)

Made with:
Stubble
STBLizer

Should work with every version of the game and with every expansion.
Tested.

You must have the expansion, game version or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

I really would have liked to use this mod when I saw the title because I was hoping to see more international names, but it saddens me a bit that European seems to equal British. Frankly, I think they're very similar to the "American" ones. I would have loved to see some Eastern European, Scandinavian and other surnames...

Well, they are similar to "american" because americans (I don't mean natives) are originally mostly british?

It's just because I want to keep my neighbourhood just as my city. I don't see many scandinavians, asians, afroamericans etc. living here.

I made a scandinavian name mod for myself, including also some finnish and german names for more variety. I think I may share it one day.

Sorry, bit of constructive criticism here.

I'm English and the names given as examples aren't English-sounding names. They all sound as foreign to me as the American ones. They'd look good in an over-the-top fanfiction steampunk/Dickens/Austen novel thats aiming to be way OTT. I was excited when I saw the title of this mod but my oh my was I disappointed when reading the examples. I mean really, "Faustine Truman"? That sounds very American and un-European to my ears.

I'm supporting the Optimist Camp for the Sims 4.

Sorry, the title of the mod was different, but it needed to be changed due to the fact that other names were insulting for some over-emotional simmers.
You may not know how hard is it to choose that much of different names, especially when you are not english.
And yes, names just as Faustine or Carmilla happen here, same goes for names like Anna, Mary and Catherine. Also, I stated in the mod description that it includes names that would fit a victorian/dark/steampunk/whatever alternative theme.
Simple tip: If you don't like that mod, just don't download it.
Remember, it is not a MODERN EUROPEAN NAMES mod. :P

This mod looks really exciting!! Can't wait to try it 8) Just to clarify, if I go into CAS and make a new sim and click randomize a couple times, will a new name show up?

Or, will the names just show up on mailmen/maids/etc.?

Thank you for this mod. I'm playing the dutch version of the Sims and really hate the names. When my Sims got married to a towny I always went to the town hall to change the name. With this mod this won't be necessary anymore!
THANKS!

Hi, I just have to say that thank you so much for this mod. I have a Finnish language version, and while I love my language dearly, I tend to make my sims with English or other foreign names because the world of the game is so American-like. However, my game is fond of giving everyone Finnish names, especially really really stupid ones (most of them I've NEVER heard before, seriously). I used to have a mod to name all newborn babies, but my computer is getting older and slower and it's slowing the game down way too much.

I haven't tried it out yet, but I'm hoping it'll work (if it doesn't, I'll update you on that). It's going to be a bit sad having EVERYONE have English names, but it's so much better than the alternative. It's not like any combination of international names would suddenly start looking at what the sims look like or what their last name is before assigning some silly name to them (like a Chinese name to a Japanese sim, or a French name to a Swedish sim), so including more ethnic names wouldn't have improved anything in my opinion. Awesome work, thank you!

Btw is it possible to modify custom name lists? Or really difficult to make your own? In case I wanted to customize my game a bit more or something. Thanks

It is not difficult! You only need a simple program caled Stubble. You can change almost every text in game there

Does this also replace the Chinese, Egyptian and French names list, or just the home neighbourhood list? I'd rather have these names instead of EA's, but I also want to keep the ethnic naming of World Adventures neighbourhoods.

The ethnic names in vacation worlds won't be changing

This mod seems great and it's exactly what my game needs at this moment (I'm about to make a gothic legacy of sorts) but sadly I can't get it to work. Nor do any other name replacement mods I've tried work. I'm not sure if I'm doing everything right. I put the package file into my Mods>Packages folder and delete scriptCache but the names won't show up in my game. I'm using Awesomemod and some of Twallan's mods, like StoryProgression and MasterController, if it matters. My game version is Finnish, as was someone else's commenting on this, but they didn't inform whether they got this to work in their game so I'm assuming they did. I know it's been said this mod might not work with every game version but I'd still like to know if there's something I might be doing to prevent it from working.

EDIT: I got another name replacement mod to work partially; it doesn't replace all names, occasionally it throws in some non-replaced names and yes, it happens with normal townies who are supposed to spawn with the new names. They mostly spawn with the mod's first name and a Finnish last name or the other way around. So I'm guessing it's this mod that doesn't work for me? Or could it still be something I did wrong?

Sorry hun, but that mod is working for english version only. When I was making that, I didn't knew how to change the language...

Alright, too bad for me then, I guess. The other mod which I got to work partially was yours as well, and it works well enough since now at least most of the townies spawn with bearable names, haha. I don't mind changing a name every once in a while, at least it's definitely better than changing the name for every single newly spawned sim.

So, thank you for the mods, I would've enjoyed trying out this one but it's okay, you made my game better anyway. ^^

I like this mod, thank you very much for making it and putting it for download. I tend to make very "dramatic" names for my sims, like Logan and Bernadette, so these names fit right in to my little personal world. :-) In fact, one of my premade sims I've created and often reuse is named Bronwyn (heard it in a show) so I was very surprised to see it randomly turn up on a townie sim!

Thank you!!!
I like these names, but I love your own Common English names mod.
Would you ever consider making them into one single mod, please?
