UPDATE 3-5-18: Autonomy lag should (hopefully) be fixed.

This is an update to SimmyTheSim's Simulation Lag Fix to the latest patch.

As per SimmyTheSim's description:

"This mod alters the game's simulation so that sim autonomy does not cause massive simulation lag in instances where there are many autonomy requests.

This should eliminate, or at the very least, alleviate, the following problems:
sims head bobbing, sims doing nothing for a few hours, time slowing down on Speed 3, and time going back to the past."

Differences from the old mod:
  • The MAX_TIME_SLICE_MILLISECONDS variable is now a tunable XML in the latest version
  • Only two Python functions are overridden.

  • Some head-bobbing activity might still be present, but it should be way less than before
  • Times sometimes still rolls back from "ultra speed mode" (when all sims are either out or sleeping). Still trying to figure out how to fix this.

This mod overrides the following python functions:

It also overrides the following XML values:

Unzip the mod files into your mods folder. Make sure script mods and custom content is enabled in your game!

Any news about the mod, duderocks? Is there any way we can help other than wait?

Not sure why the game devs aren't even trying to fix the issue themselves as it is apparently a huge issue even in vanilla games; but i'm glad someone out there is attempting to address it, so thanks! :)

This mod is great and absolutely essential, the game is unplayable a lot of the time without it. Any update would be greatly appreciated even if it is not the most efficient implementation.

Please keep up the great work.

I downloaded your mod in my game to see if it would help my game in the slightest because my game lately has been really laggy and unresponsive with and without mods. When I downloaded it, it was working for a whole sim day and then sims started going idle for several hours and it got very annoying. My game acted the same way without the mod. I've used your mod before and actually made my game more responsive then ever and I play on a laptop. I really hope you can fix this sudden issue with the mod sooner because I really want to play the game without any stutters or lag

Recently I said it was working. It did, but for some time only. Stopped working now, and game is laggy again with this mod installed.

honestly, it's such a life-saver for me. I wish I knew how to code so I could help x.x

I feel like the devs should have included something similar by now...they're really not doing much for the lag.

Hi! I downloaded this mod not knowing if it would work or not since it's outdated and I was surprised that it still kind of work! There is still some lag but waaay less than before so it's playable at least. It just doesn't seem to work on (some) community lots and (all) festivals as sims would take 6 in-game hours to do something as simple as talk to someone or order food... I'm happy to hear this mod isn't abandonned! You and your mod are life saviors, thank you so much! I'll wait patiently for an update :')

tested both of the simulation fixes on modthesims and both are broken it seems, easiest way to test it is to have a sim go to work, or sleep where time can be sped up and watch the shadows around your home if it is day time, can see the shadows just stop moving meaning the game is lagging, hopefully someone will pick up one of these mods and update it, really need it for sims 4...

Wow, I had no idea the lag was an issue even in vanilla games. The whole point of the sims is to be able to play smoothly, so maybe EA needs to go back to the drawing board with this game...
