This is a new mesh recolour, and means that you will need to download the particular mesh itself in order for this to show up in your game. See the Meshes Needed section or read the text for more information.
Taking a break from my current Trashed Project of a community rundown store. (damn those food shrine freezers...)

I decided to play around with the material definitions a bit (thanks rgiles, for posting how to add shine to skins) and ended up making metallic reflective roof pieces. For these recolors to work you must have Brasstex's base meshes. For his domes you can get them at Arabian Fortress
For the castle pieces you can get them at Castle Roof Pieces and More.

The Monstery Roofs and other wonderful pieces not pictured can be had from Mountain Monstery
Please make sure you get the color enabled packages.

Both Arabian and Castle sets come with recolors that are dull (well, not shiny). Here I offer the first of a series of metallic recolors for these meshes in a golden tone. There is also my attempt at a mosaic covered big dome. I'm not overly happy with it, and am thinking about attempting to do one that looks like stained glass...Perhaps by placing a series of lights inside it with a cheat it could look really cool....

Please give feedback. I am pondering if the shine on these is correct (And Um, no...the shine on the first set was not what I was going for, but I'll leave them up for those who like them anyhow). I will add additional colors shortly.

Adding some of those additional colors. I bring you a corrected Gold, Copper, and Reflective White. More to follow...I am taking suggestions if anyone has them.

I really need more info. how are they not working? Are they not showing up in your game? Did you download the original meshes? The roof pieces all show up under columns in build mode. However you need the original meshes for these to show. Are you having trouble placing them? Please provide more information.

Dewshine, is this an okay place to request a couple of other colors -- dark bronze, and rust? If not, send me to the right spot to request dark bronze and rust. I shall gratefully redirect my request for dark bronze and rust. Thank you.

Oh....I'd love to do a dark bronze and a rust. Did you want a rust that is dull? or one that has a little sheen to it?

I will have to get around to recoloring some of these myself, I read it was a nightmare though...I am just looking for some plain roof colors that will go with victorian houses. Not shiny though, no shiny stuff...Is there a template somewhere Dewshine?

No, not for all the pieces. I made one for the square roof...you want one for the others?...The original ones have no shine. what colors were you after?

I am looking for brown, tan, (darker than the beige one) dark green, or like just regular roof colors. Actually colors that match the regular roofs in TS2 would be best since I use the turrets and roofs at the same time for my houses. I know I am pretty boring, but those pointy turret things are perfect for victorian houses, I like square ones too, for ...uhm crap I forget the style of house...

anyway just the plain roof colors that match the regular roofs in TS2. (since I have no idea where to get other colors, I thought someone said they were going to do a tutorial here but I havent seen it yet....off to check )

But hey, if you provide all the templates, I can do them myself, unless of course you want to do them, which would be totally cool with me

Either way. I'll get some templates made. I have not tried the pointed roof pieces with a pattern so I have no idea how they will use the pattern.

nah no pattern, think plain, very plain, just so they match in color the regular roofs. Of course it would be cool to put a shingle pattern on them. hmmm...I cant wait to play around with them, I havent recolored anything in so long! You rock Dewshine, your like, like a recolor goddess! Thanks.

Yeah. maxis-matching would be nice. I hope someone can figure out how to make new roof designs soon, though.

You know I saw that before and I didnt know it was a template, I though it was circus colors, you know, for a circus. Now I feel kinda dumb lol. Ok now all we need is the others...(insert toothey smiley here)

oh and that will work, just need an idea where to put the shading/colors. I am going to try shingles though for giggles. It would be great if I can get it to work. I cant remember is that one you just posted is avail for download or was it just a pic? I guess I should go look...

Okay...here's what I nailed down. The square roof pieces use the entire graphic. The pointed pieces do not. Let me show you what I mean. Using the same teststripes as I did on the square roof both pointed ones draw from the red-green-yellow section.

The boxes on here show where the sides and edge are pilling the texture from. The blue box is the bottom edge.
Taking those colors and making squares reveals that the pointed roof pieces pull from the bottom corner. If you are planning on using any type of texture on them be aware that the texture is stretched lengthwise down the point.
These pieces were not mapped because I think Brassex was only planning on them being in solid black. I find that the domes pull their texture from a small section too.

The recolors will not show up in my game though the original set does and looks great, one would think the recolors should piggyback on the original and be displayed when clicked on, any ideas thank you. I was wondering that if only a few of us that seemto be having trouble, it it's not the color it might be file clash. If I may suggest to place all on a lot and save it as a lot then the installer can update any file that clash with others, the object installer with the game must have this capability as I can install the same objects with it as often as I want, e.g. made professors laboritory.

try to use the decorate tool. They all show for me. also make sure you have your reflection settings on.

This morning I took out all my downloads and loaded my original file of these roof’s asnd have a play as to why they’re not showing up, noting only then they are named ; MTS2_Brasstex_BTXArabianDome, MTS2_Brasstex_BTXCastleParts.
Realized this is the reason enough why your recolor aren’t showing in my game.
If I can take it for granted that just the objects look the same in every way to believe them to be the same. Looked into your links and found that though they are the same object but not in file names, eg; MTS2_Brasstex_MTS2_dewshine_Brassex'sMonsteryPiecescolorenabled, MTS2_Brasstex_MTS2_dewshine_BrasstexCastlepiecesenabled and MTS2_Brasstex_MTS2_dewshine_BTXDomesRecolorableFixed.
Loaded these and we have colored roof tops.

Oh, are there any new colors yet - the sets work so wonderfully for me that I use a least one component in every new building. A shingle like texture would be heavenly ... ah, nice and earthly ,,?? Anyway, if you have some new colors please pm me, so I don't have to check this thread twice a day. Thanks so much for these - it makes the game a much nicer experience.
