This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below the description for more information.

Hello Everyone!!

After six months of work, I have finally finished the sword. This is my first hacked object, that I have ever made. In the .rar file, there is 3 files, 1 is the sword, 1 is the stand and the last one is a social object. You need all 3 objects in your game for everything to work properly.

17-1-2007 : After some people requesting it, I made it so the "Demonstrate Skills" interaction now adds body skillpoints. Your sim will gain them alot faster than usual, 1 and a bit skill points each time they do the interaction. See post in thread for a picture of it. POST

Mesh Details:

Sword Stand: 1856/1995 (f/v)
Sword: 1562/1302 (f/v)

Sword Stand:
  • "Draw Sword" - Your sim will walk to the stand and pick the sword up. The texture on the stand will change to make it look like the sword has been taken out. (NOTE: It will stay in your sim's hand until you use the "Put Away" interaction on the stand, or the "Drop" interaction on the sword.)
  • "Put Away" - Your Sim will walk to the stand and put the sword away. The texture on the stand will change to make it look like the sword has been put back.
  • "View" - Just the same as the normal maxis "View" interaction.

  • "Pick Up" - The sim will walk over to the sword and pick it up. If the sword isn't in the hand of the sim, this option will appear.
  • "Drop" - The sim will drop the sword on the ground. This option will only appear when the sword is in the hand.
  • "Demonstrate Skills" - Your sim will swing the sword around, aswell as do some kicks and punches. After the routine is finished, they bow.This option will only appear when the sword is in the hand. See the Update area, for an update on this interaction.
  • "Fight a Sim" - Both the Sim with the sword and the selected sim will fight. They will stab, punch, kick and slash each other. Once they have finished, your sims fun will go up by a quarter.This option will only appear when the sword is in the hand.
  • "Commit Suicide" - The Sim will perform a Custom animation (it may not actually go into the sim) where they will put the sword into them. They will throw up, then die.This option will only appear when the sword is in the hand.
  • "Kill a Sim" - The sims selected will do exactly the same as the "Fight a Sim" interaction, but the sim who was selected, will die. It has a custom animation, but is a little off from stabbing the sim.This option will only appear when the sword is in the hand.

Known Issues:
  • "Sword Placement in hand" - Sometimes, if something happens to the sim, the sword is moved out further from the hand. To fix this, you can either delete the sword from Buy mode, or put the sword back in the stand, then pull it out again.
  • "Strange Pose" - Sometimes, when your sim commit's suicide, the sim may be stuck in a pose next to the stand. To fix this, you can either let the sim die by the grim reaper, or save them from the reaper.
  • "Jump Bug" - You may experience a bug with the sword or stand, where the sim may teleport from one place to another then instantly back. Currently i dont know what is causing it, so i can't fix it.

Game Compatability:
These objects, require atleast 1 expansion pack for the sword to go in the hand. It does not matter which expansion you have.
They will also not replace any of your game files.
The stand can be found under Miscellanious/ Miscellanious.
The animations only work for adult.

Cokenasmile: Coke helped me with checking error's in the sword, she also tought me how to make custom animations that dont overwrite the maxis ones.
HystericalParoxysm: HP helped me with finding much needed and useful animations. And for offering advice on how to make a sim die.
Hunter240X He also found some great animations that i could use.
Jasana_BugBreeder: For showing me how to make it show where it is correctly linking.
Echo: The biggest thanks would have to go her, she has been helping me with alot for this sword, without her, it wouldn't even be half finished. She helped with with making the sword stay in the hand after the interaction was finished. She corrected some of the codes i did which were wrong. She helped me with the commit suicide interaction, by telling me how to set it up. She also taught me the importance of Guardian bhav's. She also helped me majorly with the Kill a Sim interaction.
Smonaff: For fixing the Kill a Sim interaction for me, I wouldn't have been able to fix it. Also thank you for telling me how to make the Fight a Sim function work with the Kill a Sim interaction.

All these people took the time to help me when i was struggling, so a big thank you to you all !! :D

Terms & Conditions:
Recolouring: You may recolour the object, but you cannot include the mesh and you must link back to the thread.
Cloning: You may clone this object, as long as you ONLY replace the mesh of it, as in dont edit the code. If you do clone, it Link back to this thread.

Um, also, which file does it go in? The uni file or the regular sims2 file in the downloads? I haven't downloaded much, and it always confuses me. That's why I've only downloaded like 3-4 things. I'm a newbie, sorry. And about the CSBin Package Installer, when I download things, should I put them through that?

Im having an issue, I can buy the thing, I see the sword, i see the menu, i can kill myself and practice skills or whatever, but i cant fight or kill anyone else. Im running The Sims 2 with Just the University expansion

Ok i turned on boolprop on and im able to put in the command but i actually get an error now when i try it.

Okayyyy Umm I have sims 2 (no expansions) and i know how to add a mod and all, but when i "draw sword" it doesnt pop up in my hand and the sheath just looks empty and thats all that happens.

These objects, require atleast 1 expansion pack for the sword to go in the hand. It does not matter which expansion you have.

Does this mean i need a expansion?

Yeah it does. The reason I think it needs an expansion is because the slot in the wrist wasnt introduced until later expansions (Which is what the "draw sword" interaction uses to put the sword in the hand, mainly because the hand slot clears whatever is in it after the interaction is over).

Domebuddy, try the object ingame by itself (as in take out your other content and put it somewhere else, then test it), if it works, then there must be a global hack which changes interactions between sims (so you'd either have to find that and remove it, or the sword wont work properly). If it doesnt, then go to My Documents/ EA Games/ The Sims 2/ Logs. Look for ObjectError_[neighbourhood]_[random numbers]. If there is only one, it will be for the sword. Put it into a .rar and upload it here and I'll have a look at it.

I need some help.

I've downloaded this several times and it hasn't appeared in my game. I save it and place it in my Sims 2 Downloads yet it never appears.

Well it should be placed in (directory) My Documents/ EA Games/ The Sims 2/ Downloads. It also shows up in Miscellaneous/ Miscellaneous in the game, did you check there?

JBrehaut -

As a 100% certified sword freak (though rapier is more my style) a functional blade is just the very thing to warm the cockles of my heart. So I downloaded this item and needless to say, I want so badly for this to work.

However I'm having problems - strange ones at that. I can put the stand on the lot but I can't click on it and indeed when I put the arrow over the stand the plumbob on my character disappears. When I use the boolprop TestingCheatsEnabled true command it returns an error, something about Attributes. If you'd like I'll try to get the full error message when I play it again.

I have all the expansion packs up to Seasons, and admittedly my Sims 2 is hacked and modded to hell so it may be what I'd call an "allergic reaction" to some mod or another. But I was just wondering if you or anyone else had this problem (I've read most of the 255 comments and hadn't stumbled upon it so far - if I'd skipped something let me know.)

Again, I really really really want for this to work. Make a sword freak happy!

I keep downloading the file but it only contains one package file. I though it said it should contain 3? I am running University and Nightlife if that clarifies.

lord_corleon, I would say you are probably right about it being an "allergic reaction" to the hacks and stuff in your game. By that I'm guessing you downloaded lots of global hacks(?). Try run your game only with the 3 sword files in it, if it does work, then you'll know its one of your hacks. But if you meant you hacked the game files, you probably have no hope of it working.

Mad_Max0290, Try downloading it with Q-Xpress, it will usually give you a whole file, but if it doesn't it will notify you.

It still fails to show up in the game. I've checked to make sure it is in the folder and that the file sizes are the same. Also when opening the file there is only one file in the .rar file. And it only gets one file with Q-Xpress, also.

Well it should have 3, ingame only 1 will be in the catalogue (the sword stand). Did you look in Miscellaneous/ Miscellaneous?

PS: I just downloaded it and everything is inside the .rar.

A qquestion about the "jump"ing thing. Is there a way to fix it in game, or shall my sim forever be jumping to random places and back? I had him put the sword back and I deleted the object off the lot. What should I try next oh great one? I'm serious, this object is a life-saver (no pun intended) for my neighborhood stories. I hated having to kill off Sims who should have been killed according to my story in ways like fires, and electrocution. Awesome. I love-eth thee

Sorry, but I dont think there is a way to fix them. Unless there is a way to reset the sim data.

Default Finally got it to work... Yes!
As the header says, it took me some time, but at long last I isolated the problem, took care of it and now there is much sword-swinging and rejoicing in my burg.

(Ironically, the problem didn't seem to be a hack like I had thought - it was a decorative object I d/led a while ago that conflicted with your mod...)

Anyway nice job. I also am looking forward to checking out one of your others mods on as well (the handgun one). Looks sweet.

Hey im back and my nazi family realllllly needs to execute people in different ways then locking them up in concentration camps. are there any patches that will fix my sims 2 so i can hold objects, im cheap, and i dont wanna buy any expansions. OH and if there isnt any patches for it, could you suggest what expansion is the best to buy?

There isnt any patches that will 'fix' your game (because the slot wasnt added to the original). Well since a few people have had problems with just uni, I would recommend anything from Nightlife and above (NL, OFB, Pets or Seasons).

Hey this looks awesome but when i tried to download it it said that the sword file and the sword stand file were corrupt and i cant download it so i was wondering if there was anything you could do about it
