This is a new mesh recolour, and means that you will need to download the particular mesh itself in order for this to show up in your game. See the Meshes Needed section or read the text for more information.
I thank Velvetcube/Simmergirl for her tutorial and her efforts in making the female styles available for males. As such I've unlocked the Jeanette hairstyle to be usable by men. And unlike the other female-> male hair conversions, this style turns out to allow for a nearly smooth transition, with only slight flaws in the fitting.

(However, the long hair only shows on adults and elders. Teen males have a short, messy cut.)

Here are some screenshots, at different angles show show the relatively neat fit. I've also include the file of the hair, usable by both genders. I've made no changes to the texture or alpha maps yet. This file just adds the option for males to use the Jeanette Biedermann hair too.

*Update*: As requested, added more colors than the default dark blond. Black, a Reddish-Brown, Pale-blond, White, and Scarlet red.

Alphas still have not been changed.

That link did work about a week ago. Apparently the site has been taken down . I searched on Google and couldn't find anywhere else to download it, just info about the "Run With Me" single CD that it's on. There was a house on the Exchange a while back that had the entire package in it, Jeanette, objects, and all. I can't remember the name of it, though. It's been a couple months since I had come across it, and I deleted it by mistake.

Sweeet... Men with Pretty long flowing locks... My favie...
If we could figure out how to make all hair colours/styles male/female, I think it would be better. Someone should post a tut on how to do that.

I don't know why that would be happening. Usually if it's a case of not having the mesh needed, the game either shows a default hair or none at all (just a bald head). Try getting the mesh from the links people have kindly provided in this thread. (The Spiffy Sims one seems to be the one working at the moment.)

If that doesn't work then I don't know.

"Motofreak4u2c : ok sorry but im having huge problems with your hair... when i select it, it shows a short black haircut instead... any ideas why?"

If you are trying to use it on an adult and you're having this problem, then it's possible you don't have the original Jeanette Biedermann mesh, which apparently is needed. See previous links posted on where to get it.

Also to anyone having problems, make sure you have the original Jeanette mesh as well as the files I 've provided. And make sure they're installed in the ... My Documents\EA Games\The Sims2\Downloads folder.

As far as I'm aware, any sim related downloads (Clothing, hair, etc.) must be in the main download directory, not subfolders. (Unlike house related downloads which can go to subfolders in most cases.)

Mine too.

If you don't mind a slightly tedious but overall rather simple process, then follow Velvetcube/Simmergirl's tutorial. However that would require exporting every female style and in every color (unless you wanted to edit the colors once they're male styles, which actually would be easier.) and then converting them to either male or both in SimPe. A definite pain in the ....

Other than that, I don't know of any other way. There might be, but I'm a SimPE newbie so it's not going to be something I'd know to do if there is one.

Also the problem is that most of the female meshes don't fit the adult and elder men as well. So some of them look really bad and wouldn't be worth converting. Once a mesh editor is available, we should be able to somehow shift the meshes to fit better or make new ones altogether.

Heck, I've been wishing there was a simpler way to convert just the men's styles to other colors in a nice and easy batch process.

Maybe if there had been a slider for color, like there is for the facial features? Like one adjusts color in a paint program. In either Bodyshop or CAS, the final edited sim gets exported anyway, so the settings, would still be saved to a file. But perhaps that's more complicated than it sounds and than the system that is in place.. and I'm off-topic.

Neemeister, I could kiss you!! I went to the spiffy sims site, downloaded the long hair mesh for both genders is all colors. It looks simply unbelievable. It's amazing how much more in-depth simming will be with more realistic hair. After all, in real life, men have long hair. So, why not in the sims. Now they can! Love ya babe and thanx again.

I must commend you for this attempt, but I really don't think men's long hair should be done till it can be made to fit the head. If it was just a pic it would be fine, but it's a 3d figure that you move around. Anyway, just my opinion.

How do you unlock it? I have wanted this hair for men since I bought the game:

I also wish teen clothes could be worn by adults.

Velvetcube/Simmergirl has a tutorial on her site of how to convert hair from one gender to another. The link is posted somewhere earlier in the thread.

She also has some hair for download converted to both genders. I think the one you're looking for was one of them. However, that style doesn't fit at nicely on adult males as some styles.

I don't know if tweaking the alpha map would help either. But on teen males it fits nicely (most female -> male styles do) and looks rather cute.

I've seen a few teen to adult clothing conversions, but I do think there are usually problems with it and I don't remember where I saw them. It might be possible that some of the 'skin-tight' styles could work. I haven't looked into it or tried myself to be sure though.

One eye? That's different!

Do you have the original Jeanette Beidermann hair mesh? If not, you need it for this file to work. Several posts throughout this thread give links to where you can find it.

If you do have it, then I don't know. I haven't had that happen to me to know how to solve it. Maybe someone else reading this thread has an idea?

You could try downloading both the original mesh and my files again and reinstall them. Maybe the files got corrupted somehow?

I downloaded the mesh and the hairs Spiffy Sims uses that mesh for and I still have bunny heads, as the preview, but when I click it shows the hair. I've gotten used to it. I now say to myself: First bunny is blonde, second is black, third is red and fourth is brown. Try clicking on the bunny head and seeing if the hair shows up.
