The Jock vonStrapp Athletic Scholarship

At last, a new College Scholarship for teens about to go to college! In the past, the Hogan Award for Athletics demanded a Level 8 or higher Body Skill rating -- and paid out only $ 750.

However, the new Jock vonStrapp Athletic Scholarship demands only a Level 2 in Body Skill rating -- and pays out a whopping $ 4,000 simoleans. This is the highest-valued college scholarship ever!!

What this means for your college-bound Sim:
1. Dorm living may be optional even in his/her freshman year - you could probably afford your own pad, and
2. Your Sim could start their own sorority or fraternity house as early as their freshman year, or
3. The 50-80 hours normally needed to perform Cafeteria or other college jobs just to make ends meet could be optional, and finally,
4. Your Sim, not already having an 8+ in Body, could actually have an incentive to visit the Campus Gym regularly.

Make sure you place both package files for this mod in your Downloads folder, as they are both in the rar file below.......

Thanks to the folks at SimPE and a special thank you to Smonaff, who answered my inquiries regarding some of the files I'd need to ammend to make the monetary and skill requirement changes, text consistencies, and Memory file changes it took to make this Modification possible for the very first time.

Comments and thank-you's are always read with appreciation!

A highly original idea. Good job! I hope we will have a scholarship of young girls too? I doubt that the Jock vonStrapp Athletic Scholarship will benefit many girls. Perhaps a Jill vonBraStrapp Scholarship for young women excelling in sporting excellence in the future?

I've never been married, but I tell people I'm divorced so they won't think something is wrong with me.

I think that's much money for so little skill points.
But the idea is still great

The idea is that it's a bit much money for little skill download it so your freshman have options never before available to them! The scholarship frees your Sim, if they choose, to live on their own sooner, to start a sorority, etc., sooner. Enjoy! And remember, you can save this gem for only one or two of your special young adults who don't want to spend 1/8 of their college time working college jobs......

P.S. - Even though the scholarship is named after bodybuilder Jock vonStrapp, girls will benefit as easily from the scholarship as boys!!

So this replaces the Hogan award or is it an extra scholarship?

Wonda Brah Athletic Scholarship is an other option for a female name version. *lol*

This replaces the Hogan Award. In fact, I was advised not to create custom GUIDS, since all scholarships except for the Hogan remain the same....

Um...I know you said it's supposed to be a "cheat", but I too believe that it should:
a) require more skill points (maybe 4 or 5); and
b) give less money (1500 - 2000 preferable)

Good thought, more scholarships is really needed! Not cheat ones like this or replacements, but more. Maybe high $ for high skill demands, possibily in combination with high grades.

Do these people have any idea how much it costs to buy a non-dormitory residence? You are perceptive to make that a 4,000 dollar scholarship. How else can you start a greek house and rule it four years?
#18 Old 31st Dec 2006 at 4:07 PM
I see you got it done. I for one like it, it will be great for teens whose aspiration isn't knowledge, and let them spend less time skill building and more time having fun.

I love this :-) I think there should be more scholarships too though and maby it would be possible to fulfill several peoples needs like at 2 skillpoints have a smaller amount of money granted and at 5 a bigger. there anyone that knows about the hidden scholarships the game talks about? I've never been able to get one

Zinara, I believe the "hidden scholarships" are those for dancing moves skill and pool-playing skill -- they're "hidden" because you can't see a skill level accumulating toward the attainment of these scholarships. Anyone feel differently?.............

I love the idea of lesser skill points and more money, but I do think that a skill point of five or six would be better, and maybe only a few thousand simoleans.
But I do love the idea.
and Pontic1979 Yes you can get a scholarship for dancing but I didn't know about pool playing, so thanks for that information.

This is a great idea, thanks!

I'd also like to see additional scholarships, if you have the time.

For those who believe the body points should be higher .. either don't use this or only apply for it once your sim has achieved whatever body point you deem necessary. I think leaving it as is allows for lots of flexibility for the player to determine the necessary body points needed.

The money will allow our sims to have a much better time at Uni.
