Updated 02-21-2019 --- Version 2e is updated for compatibility with the latest game patch 1.50.67 (February 21, 2019) to allow sinks to behave as strangely as they should with the upcoming game pack.

Updated - Dec. 16, 2017 - Version 2 now includes two packages (use only one of these in your game!) The new package adds the ability for Sims thare are feeling ill to purchase and take medicine autonomously from a cabinet.

*Note* that due to the game's XML tuning for mirrors now being combined into one generic version, all wall mirrors in the game now support the Take Medicine action - the mod is no longer limited to just the cabinet-style mirrors.

Description

This mod adds a "Take Medicine" interaction to the game's bathroom medicine and sink cabinets. The sim will purchase the medicine for the regular 50 simoleons and take it immediately. For safety reasons, children will be unable to take medicine from the cabinet unless they are actually ill, and the standard timeout for teen and older sims will also prevent any accidental overdoses.

The items in the screenshot indicate which objects have the medicine purchase available:
  • Mirrors
    • All wall mirrors which use the "object_mirror_wall" tuning are now usable.
  • Wall Cabinet
    • Countryside Caress Medicine Cabinet
  • Sink Cabinets
    • Cru Cabinet Sink
    • Poulton Footed Sink Vanity

Compatibility and Installation Instructions

Although the objects are part of the base game, the mod requires the sickness/medicine system from Get To Work. If you don't have Get To Work, the option to purchase medicine will not appear.

The mod was written and tested on the latest game patchversion 1.44.77.1020 (June 19, 2018), earlier game versions are not supported.

To install, just drop the package file into your mods folder.

This mod may cause conflicts with other mods which change these mirrors or cabinets. Due to the wide variety of mods and sources for them, it is unlikely I will be able to help you with such a conflict.

Hmm, surprising to see that error if you don't have the pets expansion - that is very similar, if not identical, to an exception that would occur when a cat or dog would want to look at an object that didn't have the proper "bone" in the object model for the pet to look at. Apparantly Sims are also wanting to look at that object now.

Hopefully, I think I know what needs to be done to fix them, but testing for that to happen may take some time - I'd like to see it happen in my own game and then try the fix and see if it stops occuring.

That error should only happen with one of the four previously unusuable cabinets (the ones with no mirror) that I converted to be useable with the mod and I think it should be a relatively harmless error (resets the Sim). I'll have to investigate and I'm not sure when I can get to it.

Sorry but slight misunderstanding; I meant the packs I mentioned were the latest I had added - I am playing with all the packs apart from My First Pet so I -do- have C&D.

If it helps, the cabinet I used was the base game Countyside Caress Medicine Cabinet, if that helps. Thanks again

Just an FYI - this mod is still working for me post patch, but once Get Famous went on sale I noticed an issue - sims can't "practice acting" on wall mirrors with this mod installed -the option is just not there. I took it out for now but I might still add it back in and give my whole two actor sims floor mirrors instead.

Thanks for noticing this -- Version 2d has been updated to include the new interactions from Get Famous.

In addition it includes a focus component change that hopefully will address the issue of pets looking at the cabinets and causing exceptions.

this mod needs a fix with the animation they hold the medicine in hand but the arm dont move but there head tilts back to take it.

Yeah, I'm aware of it - just not immediately sure how to fix it and it hasn't bothered me enough to try and figure it out

Think it has something to do with "postures" and most of animation stuff is an arcane art from my point of view.

Hi, your mod doesnt work with the newest patch. I do not longer have the option, to buy medicine. Could you please fix it?

I can confirm that this mod works with only itself and MCCC installed. If you are not seeing the "Purchase Medicine" interaction, then you have another mod installed that conflicts with this one. The BEST way to find the conflicting mod or mods is to 50/50. Once you find the conflicting mod(s), then you need to decide which one you want to keep.

I can confirm that the Non-Autonomous version of this mod works with Patch 1.62.67 (7 April 2020). I will update the Autonomous version and post the update to Scumbumbomods.com once I finish it.
