I have my game updated to version 1.55.105.1020, with every pack except University and beyond.
I don't think it's a cc problem, because it's the same situation when I empty the mods folder.
What could the problem be?
I'm sorry if this turns out to be a dumb question!

No, it's not a dumb question, and that message tells me what the error is but not what's causing it. Please upload the save file you're trying to rip sims from.

Alright, here is the cleanest save in which the problem still persists:

Thanks! I had no problem loading EA sims from your save so possibly the tool is not finding the paths correctly. Please try starting SimRipper again, and click the 'Show Errors' button before you try to load a sim. If there are errors please post the text.

Hm, it's empty both before and after selecting a sim!

Hmm. What's the exact sequence of events? I assume you start the program. select a save, and click on a sim as shown in the screenshot. At what point do you get the error? Is the program crashing or just failing to load the sim?

When I select a sim, the .NET Framework unhandled exception message appears, and it gives me the choice to either ignore/continue or quit. When I ignore, the "working" text stays on forever.

I don't see the error in your screenshot after you've selected the sim. Did you click continue or had it not appeared yet?

Yes, I did click continue on that screenshot. Do you want to see the unhandled exception window?

It couldn't hurt, since at this point I'm faced with a lot of code that could possibly have caused this and need to try to narrow it down. Are you getting any other errors when the program starts?

Good grief that sounds exhausting. I'm sorry to see that things ended up like this :/
No, I don't get any errors at the launch.

Thanks! Please try the attached test version of SimRipper. When it throws that error and you continue, please click the Show Errors button and post the text here. It should show a log of how far it got in the code that's failing, so I can identify the problem section.

Edit: test version removed.

Uhm, I'm sorry but when I try to launch Simripper itself, nothing happens. I tried "run as administrator" but it's the same result. I also checked the Task Manager to see if the app is running in the background, but it's not there.

That makes no sense. I'll have to see if I think of anything that could cause that behavior, and I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem since there's a remote possibility it's caused by some glitch in your system. (Unlikely but anything possible.)

If you want, you could check the system application log for messages from SimRipper. If it's failing silently like that there should be errors in the log and they could be informative.

I'm sorry there's no solution at this point!

Omg nevermind it actually worked!!! I just had to reboot my pc! Sorry for the awkward moment. :D

Anyways here's the error log. Sorry for the french. I guess it would stand for "the format of the entry chain is incorrect", though there must be another specific term because technical jargon really isn't my thing.

That almost certainly means a string argument is formatted incorrectly, and after some banging my head against the wall I think I found the problem. You'd think I'd learn to always allow for other countries using commas for decimals instead of American periods, but noooooo.

Please download and test the attached version 2.0.2, if I'm right it should work.

Version 2.0.2 has been uploaded. It fixes failure of the CASModifier tuning to load, and I'm pretty sure will fix failure to load sims in countries that use a comma as a decimal delimiter.

I recall the possibility an alternative for The Sims 3 would be possible, if I'm correct? I love the idea, any plans on it?

I spent a couple of hours already looking at the save game and save sim files and it looks like all the essential information is there. The morphing part is no problem but duplicating the textures will be a challenge.

Hi!
I just dowloaded the TS4 SimRipper 2_0_2_2 and when i try to launch itself, nothing happens. I tried "run as administrator" but it's the same result. I also checked the Task Manager to see if the app is running in the background, but it's not there.
so checked the system application log.

What that error tells me is that SimRipper is trying to open a package that's improperly constructed. You can try moving all your mods and CC to a temporary location so your Mods folder is empty, and run it again. If it starts, the problem is a package in your mods that's corrupted or maybe a Sims 3 package that got in there by mistake.

Thanks for tracking down the error message!
