The Weather Realism Overhaul changes the way the game handles weather events and forecasts to make weather more realistic. For a more complete experience, I strongly recommend Better Seasonal Changes. Features include:

Forecasts Aren’t Always Accurate:
In the unmodded game, a cloudy day will always be cloudy. With this mod, however, forecasts can be unpredictable, a day forecast to be sunny can instead have rain showers or a day forecast to be rainy can remain cloudy. As a result, all weather events can happen with every forecast.

Tweaked Weather Forecasts:
Along with the tweaked weather events, all forecasts' names have been changed, and new varieties added, to complement the new events, such as Warm Fog (June Gloom), Showers, more intensities of rain, etc.
All forecasts now display daytime temperature as well as weather event, so you can get an idea of what the temperature will be like in the forecast.

Visual Changes:
Cloud covers, weather transitions and how water puddles form have been changed.

Other Minor Changes:
Changes like lightning settings and forecast thresholds that are too minor and too many to write here, you can see the changelog for that.

Worlds' Weather Changed:
Weather for all worlds have been remade to match real-world locations, using this temperature scale.
Freezing - <0 C / <32 F
Cold - 0 - 10 C / 32 - 50 F
Cool - 10 - 20 C / 50 - 68 F
Warm - 20 - 30 C / 68 - 86 F
Hot - 30 - 35 C / 86 - 95 F
Heatwave - >35 C / >95 F

Conflicts:
The mod will conflict with any mod that changes weather events, forecasts, forecast lists for worlds, general weather tuning or lightning.

I no longer use any of its files, however, it's still here as it was my first inspiration for the mod.

You must have the expansion, game version or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

This is a multi-part download:


IMPORTANT:
Only download ONE file, and make sure to read the descriptions of each before downloading.


After you download (or update) my mod and enable it in game, make sure that you reset the forecasts once.
You can reset the forecasts this way:
  1. Go to the Seasons section your game's options.
  2. Change the season length (for example, if you're playing with 14 day seasons, change it to 7 or 28).
  3. Apply settings without leaving the game settings page.
  4. Change the season length to your preferred length.
    If you don't do this, the mod may not work properly! The glitch where there is snow in Sulani is a result of this.

Basic Download and Install Instructions:
1. Download: Click the File tab to see the download link. Click the link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.
Read the upload description for installation instructions. If nothing else is specified, do the following:
2. Extract: Use WinRAR (Windows) to extract the .package file(s) (if included, ts4script as well) from the .rar or .zip file(s).
3. Cut and paste the .package file(s) (if included, ts4script as well) into your Mods folder

  • Anyone can use both .rar and .zip files easily! On Windows, use WinRAR.

Still a great mod I can't play without!

Any plans to update the mod for the new Expansion Pack? Or do you prefer to release that with version 2.0 of the mod (if that is still in the pipeline)

I am planning to release 2.0 tomorrow, with compatibility for the new Expansion Pack. It's a lot of work, and I do expect some bugs, but I think this will be the most realistic Seasons experience yet!

Hi! I'm having an issue with the display of temperature, it is not showing up. I don't have any other mods that could conflict with this, and the last part of the forecast is blank, no text. It's the part where it says Heathwave and such. Any ideas as to what it could be causing this? I changed the season days, applied and changed it back as stated. Thanks in advance, I really love this mod!

Alright, I'm assuming that your Sims game is in English, if it is not, see the tweaked forecasts part.
If your game is in English and you're having this problem, you might want to check if you've downloaded two files at once, that could cause this to happen. Otherwise I'm not sure what it could be, although maybe a screenshot of your Sims 4 calendar could help.

First of all thank you, and you can actually share the entire mod in Traditional Chinese as long as you give me credit, as that's how I'll be handling translations (as a different version of the full mod). It would also be nice if you could hand me the Traditional Chinese file so that I can put it on here and give you credit for the translation.
Edit: Okay so, as Osqar provided me with string tables, sort of changed my mind about this, you can still publish the mod as a seperate thing and give credit to me, but just the string files also work.

My game is not in english but I thought I'd get the names anyway since that's not an issue for me, But from what I can understand, if it's not english or the current available translations it won't show up. That's okay, thanks for the help, I'll still use it! :D

I've used this mod for a couple of days now and I must say, it has become a must-have for me already, really loving it!
However, I realized it's not translated to Spanish, and since I'm a native speaker I thought I may translate the mod for you?
I have a bit of experience translating mods, most of the time I just translate small mods for personal use but I thought perhaps this mod could use some Spanish translation.

Let me know if I have your consent! If so, I'd be more than happy to contribute the translation for this awesome mod

Thanks for all the effort in making this. It's entirely way too much rain for me, but overall I see that you put a lot of effort into this. (I went ahead and changed it personally for my own use) =)

During my edits... I noticed 2 issues in the actual coding of the XML files that may need to be addressed.

In forecast_chance_of_thunderstorms_Hot L n="weather+event_timeblocks" is located on line 8.. where on the comparable tuning files, it should be on line 14 AFTER the prescribed weather type segment

This same issue is located on forecast_chance_of_snow_Freezing. Same issue, same fix.

I don't know what impact these minor issues will have, but they will probably throw up exception flags for twisted mexicans better exceptions scripts as needing to be updated.

When an engineer says that something can't be done, it's a code phrase that means it's not fun to do.

Found a bug that still hasn't been fixed since the update with fear. The update changed several emotions from Tense to Frightened.
Lightning strikes somewhere gives nearby Sims a Moodlet, but that Moodlet is empty and the Emotion is wrong.
And this is the cause of a broken script from this mod, 100%

Thank you so much for this, I thought I fixed these mistakes, but will look and fix if needed.
As for the rain, it's kind of how real life works unfortunately, most humid climates get at least 150 days of rain, which means almost half the days have to be rainy for places like Britechester.
