This is a featured upload! It showcases the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
Do you have what it takes to solve the mystery of Chateau du Graaz?

--- UPDATE ---
- In later versions of Sims one of the chests is not possible to open, stopping people from continuing the tomb.
- Includes slightly more clues
- Story slightly updated
- Minor puzzle-changes later in the tomb

--- General talk ---

Hi folks! Finally I have managed to complete my first tomb project. It would be, as far as I'm concerned, one of the more ambitious tombs in the community. Not because it's super big, but it contains puzzles that require actual thinking in contrast to the tombs we see in the game.

It starts off pretty easy, hopefully, and evolves into some more intriguing puzzles, which you sometimes need to engage with the environment to solve.

When it comes to designing puzzles/riddles, I have been doing that quite a lot for various occasions. However, the most challenging is to find an adequate difficulty level for the "audience", so to speak. So whether you find it too hard or too simple, I hope you will appreciate the concept. And please, leave a comment in the commentary section to let me know what you think. That will help a lot.

I will gladly help out if you get stuck (don't just give up!), and if it gets popular I can post a thread so that people can discuss solutions, so I don't get too much PM:s. This submission is really a shot in the dark, since I don't know if it will be liked or hated. But I sure hope for that all the hours spent to create this will be worth it!

--- Gameplay notes! ---
  • The progression isn't always linear, meaning that you sometimes need to return to rooms where you have already been.
  • For the story, and sometimes important notes, there are text plates distributed all over the area. Read those for hints and some intensifying atmosphere.
  • Pay attention to your visa level. This mission may require 3 days or more to finish.
  • Make sure you have no extra keystones in your inventory when you begin this adventure.

--- Story ---

This chateau belonged to Basile Graaz, an archiologist and professor in Egyptian mythology. The mansion has been deserted for about 20 years now, after all members of the family mysteriously disappeared. No one has dared to enter this cursed mansion ever since. Rumours doesn't only speak of deaths and evil curses, but of a great secret that has yet to be found.

--- Secrecy ---

Please don't have a look at the map if you don't want to get spoiled. Of course I know everyone will do that anyway. I won't blame you... You little gnomes!

--- Non-tomb version ---

You can now find a non-tomb version here.

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.
2. Select the .sims3pack file you got from extracting.
3. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
5. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Select the house icon, find the lot in the list, and tick the box next to it. Then press the Install button below the list.
6. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the lot to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
7. Run the game, and find your lot in Edit Town, in the premade lots bin.

Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.

Gomen if people have said that, but you can have tooms in the home n'hood, just not called by something other than 'landmark' or 'hidden' tooms.

Long-time - No, scrach that, more like 'Simmer From Betta' and I have been adicted from the origenal bace game. I remember when I 1st played - I was a Sim adict for life!

This looks absolutely amazing! I only wish my graphics card wouldn't seize up playing a lot of this size or I'd be downloading right now! The design is superb, I'm very impressed.

This looks awesome! I've been kind of wondering about making a tomb myself, and now that I know the possibility of something this complicated and interesting and creative, I might have to play around with that idea.... After playing around with this one, first, of course.

I've been working on my third to release tomb, I hope it will finally be crowned as featured creation, people back then didn't appriciate tombs. I'll try this one out for sure.

Before I say anything else - where is it supposed to be placed?? (lot name, France, Egypt ... )

Simmeramalie I just placed this in custom made world and chose the lot type to be no visitors allowed though this tomb's architecture is similar to other tombs in France.

My Sim and I had so much fun completing this that her horse got taken away due to negligent. :D
The ballroom was the hardest part and I was so proud when I figured it out.

I have one question though. When I got this adventure done I had one extra heart keystone left. Did I miss something, some small room?

One person reported a mystic bug including heart keystones, which shouldn't be there... I guess there is some interference with a mod.

Oh.... my.... gawsh! this is so awesome. I'm playing now, but I don't have a clue how to do any of the floor puzzles, like the chess thing (so i cheated to unlock the door to the attic), but I'm stuck in the room with the piano. everytime my sim gets off the tile with foots prints the glow goes away... im confused

i was able to reach the chess room, albeit with minor difficulty. unfortunately, i do not play chess. i researched the legal moves a knight is permitted to execute. i understand it may move in an L-pattern, either two up and one over or two over and one up/down. even with this knowledge, i am uncertain how to proceed. all attempts have failed to unlock the attic door. hints/guidance would be most welcome. thus far, i have truly enjoyed this landmark tomb and thank you for sharing it with the community.

The house is amazing! And it fits perfectly on that one 30x30 lot in Appaloosa Plains. Looks like it's always been there.
But ...
I am stuck right at the beginning. No matter what I do, the door at the other end of the path to the further room(s) (upstairs, where you have to move the statue aside with the different colored doors) won't open.
I would really appreciate help on that one.
Gah, I feel so stupid for not even making that door.

I'm stuck too, like melical. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong? I could simply cheat and get right over the statue, but I don't want to mess anything up down the road. I would love some help with that.... Because I can't get past the first area.

I'm stuck there too. Are we supposed to go through the door, or do we go through the gate. If we go through the gate, how do we get the crescent keystone?
