Replacing a Maxis career simply requires that none of the GUIDs, GroupIDs etc are changed - but I don't know how easy it is to reverse engineer that.

What I lack in decorum, I make up for with an absence of tact.

The template I use for my careers is the science career and until I follow the steps in Superfly's tutorial about fixing careers it overwrites that career. I could try using a different career and not fixing it. I'll see what I can come up with.

This is so awesome! Thanks especially for making a version without the custom clothing, I don't have glamour stuff and it would have been really disappointing to miss out on this because of that! Thanks again!

I try to make my careers available to the most people possible, so I didn't want to require such a large number of expansion/stuff packs. But it was difficult to find wizard-like outfits in just the basegame, so I did the version without custom uniforms as a compromise. I'm glad it worked out for you.

Hey! nice job you have done. I realy like this career.

But I have some bug(or something like it). Wiz Career doesn't ovewrite science career - it's true. But it does overwrite icons, clothing, sounds and carpool for scientist >< .
So, sim actualy haves and goes to a sci-career(names of each career-step and chance cards are from there) but it looks like he is a wizard ><

I think it's a language issue. This was the second career I ever made and I made it before I knew some of the things I know now. So I used the science career as a base and changed it. But I only changed the English text. For every other language the science descriptions and chance cards remained unchanged. I wasn't thinking and now I do it differently. So I think what it is is that the magic career appears to be a science career with different clothing, carpools, etc. Sorry for the inconvenience. When I get a few minutes I'll fix it and reupload. Of course, the only language will still be English, but the English text will appear for every language.

I didn't realize what I was doing language-wise until the third career I made. I need to go back and fix my first one (the Espionage career) too.

This is one of my all time favourite careers (for my Sims, that is LOL)! I'm in the process of removing and re-uploading my game to start over fresh and I hunted this one up specifically because it was one thing that I HAD to have again. Thank you so much for the wonderful creation. I couldn't love the custom car pool more, it's just brilliant. ;-)

Thank you both very much, but I can't take credit for the carpool. All I did was take hexameter's fine work and convert it to a carpool. He did the vast majority of the work on that.

Wait...I am confused lol. Sorry but...Which one do I 'have' to download?

I have all EP's and SP's, and I want the clothing, and everything with the career, and I don't care about the language, I just want English. But...I really don't want a override of the science career. Or is that all fixed?

Otherwise I love it! and I can't wait to have it.

Okay, since you have listed your location as USA, I'm assuming that English is the language your game is in. You can use either the main Magic Career.rar or the Magic Career (Fixed Languages).rar. If you played in another language, what was happening originally (what I fixed in the "fixed languages" version) was that I used the science career as a base and the only text I changed was English. So if you played in another language it appeared that you had two science careers. One was the original science career, and one was my career with all the features of my career except that it had the science text.

I tried the No custom clothing one (as I have only university and nightlife exps) and it crashes my game right at the loading screen. Bummer. I would have liked to play this one a lot :P

If anyone is interested in finding out why and can fix it I would love to try this again...

Sorry your game is crashing. I don't know why that would happen. Could it be a conflict with something else you've downloaded. Try with the career (and its carpools, etc.) as your only custom content and see if it still crashes. If it doesn't then it seems like it's a conflict. I tested it in my game and it didn't crash it (of course, I have a different set of EPs than you).
