Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
The sun, the moon, stars or meteors can't be seen properly on the sky while playing on a lot if Seasons, any newer expansion pack, or Mansion and Garden Stuff is installed. This mod fixes it. Additionally, it provides better support for displaying neighborhood skyboxes and horizons on lots.

This mod does not restore base game clouds but there is another mod which achieves that: the clouds controller made by Lowedeus. There's also a global version of it made by Lazy Duchess – it makes clouds show automatically, without having to put a controller on a lot.

Updates
15 Apr 2017: Added a fixed version for Mac. The snow texture outside the lot borders doesn't flash purple anymore.
7 Apr 2017: The previous version made terrain paints and floors on other lots invisible. It's fixed in the SkyFix 2.1.
12 Mar 2017: Released the SkyFix 2 that makes it possible to create skyboxes that blend properly with edges of the visible terrain.

Choosing the right version
  1. If you have an old version of this mod (simNopke-skyFix-### or simNopke-skyFix2-###), delete it first. Go to 2.
  2. If you're playing on Mac and have Super Collection or Bon Voyage installed, choose simNopke-skyFix2_1-EP6-Mac. If not, go to 3.
  3. If you're playing on PC and have Ultimate Collection, or at least one of the following packs installed: Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life, Mansion and Garden Stuff – choose simNopke-skyFix2_1-EP6. If not, go to 4.
  4. If you have Seasons installed, choose simNopke-skyFix2_1-EP5. If not, go to 5.
  5. If you have at least one of the following packs installed: Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, any stuff pack (except of M&G Stuff) – choose simNopke-skyFix2_1-EP2. If not, choose simNopke-skyFix2_1-base.
EP5, EP2 and base versions work fine on both PC and Mac.

Known bugs
None caused by this mod, but there is a bug you can't see without the SkyFix in Seasons, a newer expansion pack, or M&G Stuff: double sun and double moon.

ConflictsIf you want to use one of those mods, use it instead of this mod – they have the SkyFix incorporated.

For creators of skyboxes
To create a properly layered neighborhood skybox compatible with the SkyFix, you have to use the following values for the stdMatLayer parameter in the material file of your skybox:
  • -6 – skies (solid)
  • -5 – something between the sky and the horizon, for example clouds
  • -4 – horizons
Unfortunately, Maxis sun, moon, stars and meteors won't be covered by clouds or horizons.

I'm not sure I understand what this is, are you saying EA broke the sky from BV on and this fixes their bug?

From what I've read around this (mostly from the tumblr post) - Seasons instituted a box wall around the lot to define boundaries. Unfortunately what that does is block sky deco including the eaxis sky deco.

What this mod does is remove the box wall so that the sky deco can be seen. So yeah, EA broke the sky from Seasons onward. The first fix is if you only have seasons, the second fix is if you have BV or onwards.

The walls appeared in Nightlife, on boundaries of lots and covered something (all higher layers). Since Seasons, they cover sun, stars and moon although walls' definition haven't changed – sun, stars and moon have been moved to higher layers than walls' layer. In fact, I didn't remove the walls at all – they're on much higher layer now. I haven't seen any negative effects, but remember: it's an experimental mod.

If you don't have camera mod, you can't see it without using TAB. Check it out and let me know – maybe it isn't working; I couldn't test it in Seasons only.

This mod? Yes, it is, but there is the same problem as neighborhood skyboxes have.

And a little achtung! SkyFix does not show in Custom Content Dialog.

Oh, I love this fix! I have as well, Jonimobile's 'see stars at night' fix, but that only did half the sky..this one does the entire sky, and it even includes shooting stars and meteors!

The Sim Solar System, though, is a bit strange...it has 2 moons. Oh, well, I can just imagine that it's the Moon and Jupiter together..(although they're far, far away from one another in reality.)

Thanks for fixing this problem-long overdue!

I have a similar sky mod. Not only do I have two moons, I also have two suns. Just like the planet Tatooine.

So you can actually see the (huge) neighborhood skies without any cut offs? This is amazing! :o

Edit: Yeah it actually works! Now I can throw away my cheap, small box sky

@ Nopke I don't have a camera mod, I follow your instruction and use the TAB, yes then I could see the Stars and moon and meteor ( really beautiful to look at ) but the Tab take you way to far out of boundary,
with the Sims lot way below which is not good for normal game play using tab. So from my understanding in order to have a normal game play to see the sky and all that in it I would need to have a camera mod, to work with your SkyFix ?
Because if so then that a whole new ball game Camera mods have been known to cause game crashes at time. Unless you know of one that don't.

In base game you need to use the Tab to see what is on the sky too… So, if you want to always see it, you have to have a camera mod anyway.

How many camera mods have you tested? I think that not all of them. In my game, Gunmod's camera mod and Enhanced gameplay cameras caused crashes. Now, I have my own camera mod and everything is okay. Maybe I will upload it later.
