I'm new to the Sims2. Was a Sim1 fanatic for years... all the expansion packs, yada yada yada... now I've become a download-a-holic. I almost had a case of delerium and trremors when after downloading Clean Installer I discovered that nearly a third or more of thefiles were duplicates! Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for the program(s) you've created. I'm gonna try to go on the wagon and cut back on the d/lg (yeah; right! no, really... yeah; right) ... um did I mention I have an on-going argument with my SimSelf... uh, I guess I'd better not go into any further detail... (yeah; right... be quiet! you're drawing attention to us, er, I mean me... or is it we?...

Shortly after installing NL, I built a wonderful house using the Maxis versions of these windows, but wondered why it was always dreary and dark inside. I was aware that light was no longer behaving as it had done before, but I just put it down to another Maxis glitch and assumed that all windows were like this now. Before I could take note of what was happening with other windows in other lots, some of the other glitches pissed me off so much that I stopped playing for a while, but now that hacks for these problems are gradually trickling out, I'm getting ready to play again. These windows will help, but in a way, I'm dreading using them. That house I used them in took an age to build and required me to use the moveobjects cheat to place them correctly (Tiered roofs - don't ask). I'm now going to have to go through that all over again to replace the darkened windows with these new windows. It'll be just my luck that as soon as I do it, one of the family will get vampified and then I'll have to change them back.

Only joking! The windows do look great and as much of a pain as it will be to alter everything, it will be worth it - especially with the tall windows which will be great for some of the downstairs rooms.

So thanks very much for these.

Hi

Many thanks for the fixed windows, I love the leaded windows in the game, though I haven't tried them yet, the long windows look awesome

I have downloaded quite a few of your other windows sets, and they look brilliant in the games

Since I downloaded these windows, I've been using then pretty extensively. The variety of sizes means that they are excellent for both old and modern buildings. So, thank you for making these variations on the Maxis windows.

Recently, I have been working on a dorm for Uni. It has a very Gothic style - kind of like an Oxford University building. Some of the ideas come from studying the local castle that's about a mile down the road from where I live (actually, it's a stately home rather than a castle, but it's officially called a castle). To a degree, your windows (along with others I got from this site) are ideally suited for this building. Take a look at the pictures and you'll see what I mean. But you'll also see there's a problem too. This is a stone building and the window frames really should be stone to match the stained-glass windows and the door frames. Your windows are perfect in shape and size, but they would look so much better in this building if the frames matched the doorframe.

I'm not any good at this customising lark, so I wondered if you'd be willing to make a new version of these windows using the texture and colour of the double doors that I'm using? It would be very helpful to me in this case and I'm sure that other people would like them too. I'm also using the matching door for these windows, so if that could be given a new frame too, I would be very grateful.

Once complete, I would be willing to post this dorm to MTS2 for others to use.

Thanks.

That is a nice looking house, Shupinola! I've attempted to make a window recolor to match that stone door frame and it turned out OK. So I'm adding it to this thread for all to download . The door recolor would not work as nicely, but maybe others will make a better one for you.

Just for the info, my home site is TSR, most of my objects posted there. I cannot repost everything here, but if anyone interested, I also made matching sidelight window, solid door, and privacy window for this set. They will be posted at TSR next week.

Thanks so much ... and thanks for making the recolour so quickly too! I have already downloaded them.

Of course, you know what I'm going to ask for now don't you? I really like that window with the side panes, but ... er ... any chance you can do those in the stone texture too? Just the frames - the door sould be better staying in dark wood. I can already imagine a building it would go well with.

The dorm is just about ready and so far is unoccupied, so I might just upload it to this site - best place seeing as it contains walls, floors, objects and windows all from this site. In fact, it's a bit of a Mod The Sims 2 showcase of this site's talent. My worry is that I would forget to link to someone's work.

It won't be until next week at earliest though as I'm off to do some real-life building for my mum and will also be going to see HP and the Goblet of Fire with my friend and her kids. Will I be able to cope being away from my beloved Sims for five days?

The stone recolor will work for any window I made for this set. But the sidelight windows will not be available at this site, like I said above they will be published at TSR. Those can only be used in houses submitted to TSR.

Whoa! Don't know what happened to make my above post turn up three times. I only clicked on it the once, but then left the page up as I was replying to a message over at the Browncoats (Firefly/Serenity) site.

Maybe a moderator could delete the excess posts (and then this one too)?
