Does not work. Upon starting an AnyGame from disc I get this error: There is something wrong in your save-game folders.
The folder "C:\Users\ALEXAN~1\DOCUME~1\AnyGameStarter\AnyGame3\EA Games\The Sims™ 2 Double Deluxe" does not exist,
or it's not the one set up by the installer.
The only solution is to run the AnyGame Setup again and reinstall this AnyGame.
However, I've reinstalled it multiple times... Help!

Hello? Nice to meet you. I'm a rather small Sims 2 modder that well, mods (And seems to post a lot on the forums with seemingly with a lot of posts. Or maybe just around 60 but who cares idk how to count well actually I do but that's a story for myself.)

I suspect it may be related with the "TM" character contained in the folder name "The Sims™ 2 Double Deluxe" (which is the standard name for the Double Deluxe games). Unfortunately, once I had a Double Deluxe game to test the AGS, but I don't have it any more, so I can't help much.
The only things I can suggest are:
1) when you finish playing the minigame and close it, wait 15-20 before doing anything; if you close the game and immediately start another game, or you do anything involving the Documents folder, the AnyGameStarter might be unable to restore the correct folder paths;
2) the next time you see that error message, open the mentioned folder ( C:\Users\ALEXAN~1\DOCUME~1\AnyGameStarter\AnyGame3\EA Games\The Sims™ 2 Double Deluxe ) and check if it contains a file named "AnyGame3.id"; if not, you can create it yourself: just create a new text document with notepad and rename it "AnyGame3.id" (be sure that the extension is ".id" and not ".txt").

I've finally started my Journal. Information only, no questions.

I'm getting an error that says "Windows couldn't find the file "C:\Program Files(x86)\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden StuffTSBin\Sims2EP9.exe". Make sure the name is correct and try again." (Not sure about the exact wording since my computer is not in English) The path seems to be missing an "\" and can't find the file.

Default Wrong Disc Errors
My EPs: Uni, NL, OFB, Pets, Seasons.
My SPs: None.
OS: Win7
User type: Administrative.

Comment under Properties for my "AnyGame1 (Up2OFB)" desktop shortcut says:
"Packs: UNI NL OFB
Game Type: Standard Game
Resolution: 1024x768
Language: Original (English US)
Game Sound: ON
AGS version: 2.1.2"

Hi. I downloaded this (the second file, uploaded in 2017) to make a custom CAS!, but, when I click on my "AnyGame1 (Up2OFB)" shortcut, I am told that I am running the wrong version. If I have the Seasons disc ("disc 1") in my drive, it says I need to put in the OFB disc (there is only one disc for this EP). If I have the OFB disc in, it says I need the Seasons disc. Swapping out discs and then hitting "OK" gives no result; the game process terminates.

I have the AppsFiles folder attached. The correct (full) path for my "Sims2EP3.exe" is 'C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Open For Business\TSBin\'
Documents folder is "C:\Users\Nicole\Documents\"

Thanks!

Hi so I'm playing a BG AnyGame and it seems to load unptached version (given the fact that it says "2004" on the startup screen instead of 2005) even though I have patched it before installing the few EPs I have. Because of this, my game crashes when I try to load any of the lots of my old save game (which was from a patched BG). Is there a way around this?

long story short I tried using this to follow that custom CAS tutorial but I couldn't figure it out, so I uninstalled it and now my game launcher crashes anytime I try to open it.

Can I just delete a Perma game from My Documents? Or do I need to do something else too. I want to keep the rest, but one was made by accident.

The new version from 2017 seems to completely disable H&M, K&B and IKEA packs, since they disappeared from my full game after the folders were renamed. Renaming the folders to use those special character restored all the items.

Yeah... this is my second attempt at using AGS but it completely fucked up my documents folder... I don't even know how I got that fixed, or what I did wrong to cause that in the first place, I just followed the install instructions incluind the part where it said to CAREFULLY select my documents path... after all of this, when I launched my supposedly BASE GAME anygame, it was a bg plus latest EP anygame (In my case, Seasons). I have no clue what I'm doing wrong... I really want this to work

The installer, in order to correctly manage some game configurations that include specific stuff packs (H&M, IKEA and K&B) now permanently renames the three mentioned game folders, so to remove any non-standard characters like "®" and "&". This won't affect in any way the normal "full" game.

It did rename those which made the game not recognise them at all anymore. I didn't wanna mess anything else up so I just copied said folders and kept one with the original name and one with how AGS renamed it. Now it's working fine again, just wanted to post this in case anyone else runs into the problem but didn't just want to change back to the original name.
All in all everything works fine with AGS and it is a great help in so many ways!!!

Unfortunately this is complicated and I don't recommend it, it actually messes with your system path files redirects your personal Documents elsewhere which messes up other software.

If you want to change it run any game it's easy done manually by simply changing 1 value in the registry, for a 64bit OS just go to,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\EA GAMES\The Sims 2

Then go to the string 'EPsInstalled' and change this to whatever EPs your system thinks you have installed.

Example: If you only want to run the Base Game, University, and NL, just change it to

Code:
Sims2EP1.exe,Sims2EP2.exe

Then run the latest EP at the time which would of only been EP2, so you would run, Sims2EP2.exe.

Leave string blank for the Base Game only, and simply just run, Sims2.exe

You get the picture, this is how simple this really is.

You can use this method if you, like me, should not have installed this program but you must paste exactly:

Sims2EP1.exe,Sims2EP2.exe,Sims2EP3.exe,Sims2SP1.exe,Sims2SP2.exe,Sims2EP4.exe,Sims2EP5.exe,
Sims2SP4.exe,Sims2SP5.exe,Sims2EP6.exe,Sims2SP6.exe,Sims2SC.exe,Sims2EP7.exe,Sims2SP7.exe,Sims2SP8.exe,Sims2EP8.exe,Sims2EP9.exe

(do not put a line break between Sims2EP5.exe, and Sims2SP4.exe, I needed to do that so the message wouldn't run off the page)

Remove which ones you don't actually own, this is if you own everything. Putting it in another order will not let the game recognize the EPs.

This hasn't solved all of my problems, Sims 2 does not recognize some files as the locations for my game data; the game loads and evidently recognizes my CC (I get a notification about it) but no neighborhoods appear.

I am at least able to uninstall the game now, and re-installing might fix whatever issue this is, but does anyone have suggestions on correcting this?

Thank you @Lucydique ! I should have tried this before the solution you gave seems to be the fastest and also replacing the renamed folders files for the backed up files specially IKEA (order load because of the name is loaded before the renamed one and so it cannot load the files from the Ikea original) , and also it works if you do the following:

REMEMBER SIMS 2 USERS ,TO ALWAYS BACK-UP EVERYTHING EVERYTHING!

1 you install AGS games.
2 copy the anygame carpet AGS and your EAgames folder from your Documents and zip it just in case.
3 (Do the same with changed files from your game directory: graphic rules, lights, camera anything you have changed) Uninstall the Sims 2 and all eps/sps
4 Re-install and customizing it to leave as it was ( graphic rules, lights, camera and all stuff that you backed up)
5 inspect your EAgames folder to make sure everything is as you like and test your real game.
6 go to documents and open Anygame folder, now you should be able to play both versions without losing anything.

REMEMBER SIMS 2 USERS ,TO ALWAYS BACK-UP EVERYTHING EVERYTHING!

Hi, I have a problem - if I make any custom game, than I always have Holidays packs, which I don't want them to have (For example I want to have basegame only or pets only). Is there any way to get rid of holidays packs in these custom games? I have russian version of the game.

Not sure if this thread is still being reviewed/monitored, but I've found an issue where my in-game Snapshots aren't appearing anywhere. Typically, they appeared in AnyGame(PermaGame)Start/AnyGame1/EA Games/The Sims 2/Neighborhoods/N001/Storytelling and as of several years ago, this is where I found those Snapshots. Recently, however, I've gone into my AnyGame and the in-game Snapshots aren't appearing anywhere. I've checked every possible folder including my main game and can't find anything. The in-game Movies show up just fine in The Sims 2/Movies within the AnyGame folder, but the Snapshots are missing.

I've tried this in two different AnyGames and one PermaGame, both in and out of a lot and still cannot find where those images are kept. Further, the game doesn't seem to register the pictures either. The in-game Storytelling option simply does not show those in-game snapshots no matter where they are taken. If I open up the Storytelling option, the resulting .xml file will show an updated Date Modified, but there's no way to find any of the images taken in-game.

I got a new laptop last year and had to reinstall everything, including AGS. I'm now using the most recent version of AGS updated in 2017, but the previous version did not have this issue. I've been playing the game since 2004 and using AGS since it first came out, so I'm pretty versed on the game's files and how things should work with it. I'm going to downgrade to a previous version of AGS to see if that corrects the issue, but wanted to add this in case there is anyone able to see if this is a legitimate bug.

Edit: Welp, I've fixed it. Keeping this comment just in case it is worthwhile to anyone else.

To get my Snapshots working again, I did the following:
  1. I backed up the current AnyGames and deleted the AnyGames where I saw the issue
  2. Reinstalled AnyGame1 fresh and ran it to ensure that the issue was corrected
  3. Copied and pasted just the following folders into AnyGame1:
    • Cameras
    • Collections
    • Config
    • Downloads
    • LotCatalog
    • Music
    • Neighborhoods
    • PackagedLots
    • Paintings
    • Teleport
    • Thumbnails
    • zCEP-EXTRA
  4. I loaded up the same AnyGame again with the newly pasted files to ensure Snapshots captured like normal

I suspect the issue I've experienced came from the fact that I had a version of AGS from 2008 and it was not until I upgraded my computer that I went to search for a new update. When it came to adding the Sims 2, I just copied and pasted backed up files after re-installing everything. If I had to guess, the copy/paste of the entire AGS folder from an older version might have caused some issues as this issue did not occur in my main game and this has been my first time really firing up AGS since getting the new computer.

I'm sorry for the problems, but remember that the AnyGameStarter is officially
a "beta" version tool, i.e. it's still in testing.
