This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below the description for more information.
Why didn't EA think of this??

This is decor only. It has no functions.

This is an EA base game mesh. I simply resized it and altered it for wall placement. It can be moved up & down the wall. You will need to use "moveObjects on" for placement.

Just like the original microwave, it has one color channel and can be found under Small Appliances.

Price §245

Polygon Counts:
1266 vertices 422 faces

Additional Credits:
EA for the mesh.

Altered with TSRW & Wings3D.

Style: Modern
Room: Kitchen
Maxis Flags: Not Applicable

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.

For Package files:

1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

For Sims3Pack files:

1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.

There have been requests on the official Sims forums for something like this. I imagine one of the reasons they didn't implement it was because it would require adjusting the animation so that Sims would reach higher. It would not be able to be reached by children (although I don't play with children in my game so I don't know whether or not they use the microwave normally).

I'm still hoping that someone can figure out how to make this functional though. I really like it.

For the person who said that the stove would burn the microwave-- for years there have been "above range" microwaves. They have to be a minimum of 30 inches above the stove and they often function as range hoods. They have extra venting and such to divert the heat. Just google "over range microwave" and you'll see lots of images.

Thank you for making this! Even if it doesn't function as a microwave, its still nice to have for people who just want to simulate specific looks.

It could be reached by children! All they would have to do is take out there handy dandy stool, the same one they use to brush their teeth! I wish someone on mts or anywhere online could make an animation for an above range microwave. I don't know how hard that would be to do though.

one time I used the osmp mod to place a microwave above the stove, hoping the sims would still use it with the same weird glitch that they sometimes use where their arm weirdly stretches out to perform an action even when the object they are trying to reach is not properly in front of them. I can't remember if this was while I was playing the sims 2 or the sims 3... but an example is when they were playing chess or when they were reaching out to pet a pet and its like they gave up trying to position themselves in front of the pet so the interaction could proceed they just did this weird stretchy arm thing and petted the air, though the pet still received the pet, it just wasn't in the right place. I was hoping that the same thing would apply with the microwave, since I moved it with a hack, but no such luck. My sim simply through the infamous "I can't get to the object/ blocked path" fit.
