I needed an attention-getter to prevent redundant comments later.

I'm a big fan of houses and furnishings with "character". Plain-vanilla stuff just doesn't tickle my fancy, so I converted the boring swingset into this old tree swing. However, currently there is no way of creating a copy of the original swingset and making it into a functional new object. Due to either the Object Workshop, SimPE, or the original Maxis coding of the swingset, cloning a swingset results in game lockups, so I had to make this replace the default swingset.

Note also that the tree itself does not take up part of the object's footprint, and consequently is "invisible" to Sims. This means that they will walk through the tree as if it didn't exist (if they're going around it in that direction). If you have swingsets already in your neighborhood, they will probably not change unless you go into buy mode and buy this swingset. Once it's on the same lot as an original swingset the game will change the model for the old one to the tree.

All that being said, this is a fully-functional swingset, and the tree even shakes and bends when the Sims use it!

Enjoy!

-Targa

Regarding the file size: A little on the large side because I had to replace the textures with newer larger ones.

Mesh info: 832 Polygons

**EDIT** I have had a report that this does not work if you only have The Sims 2 and no expansions. I have changed the compatibility until either someone tells me different, or I can change the object. It's possible that the swing was "patched" by the Uni expansion and is no longer compatible with the base game.

This is lovely Targa, thanks :salute:
Someone suggested using moveObjects to put an object inside the tree? While this didn't work - the objects poke out and show, I did try putting 4 flower beds around the trunk with moveObjects and this seems to work quite well. I imagine the gardener is going to look a bit wierd, but it means the Sims choose to walk around the flowers

Thanks again Targa I never really used the maxis swing but this is great!

If you want the tree to make it look like it has leaves, just put the original willow tree into the swing by using the moveobjects on and the boolprop snapobjectstogrid false cheats. If you align the tree and swing just right, it looks like one object. (I don't know if anyone figured this out yet, but I just figured that I'd share this.)

Thanks again for this object, my sims and I love it!

I have no idea as to file naming complication. But if it is possible to look at [Testers Wanted: Porch Swing w/ Awning ( 1 2 ) by momma"b" 7th Sep 2005]using the appropriate protocol. I would like to use both though maxis will be taking a back seat in this one in favor of yours. Thank you.

:jaw: I love this. After watching my Sims walk through the tree a few times, I put a tree in the same space. Now there are leaves and the Sims don't walk through the tree anymore. Now if I could just get the parents off the swing so the kid can play on it.

Hey if you put two tree swings beside each other it will turn into the normal double swing(with rope instead of chain).....so you can have both in your game. I love this thing I never liked the original swing anyway.

After trying this in my game I'd have to say that my fun loving sims (Adult) just can't get enough of using it. So funny! Thank you for this swing tree.

Oh, simbad44 that's a great tip!

This is gorgeous, and I've bookmarked it while I decide whether I'm willing to replace the existing swings or wait for a cloned version to appear.

*reads posts above mine* Oooh. Okay, I'm sold. Gotta have it -- I would most likely have been using groups of two or three swings on any lot that had swings anyway.

I tried to upload the swing to my downloads folder, but I got a message from the WinRAR that said the file was corrupt. I just wanted to know if you had heard anything else about this, or if it was just my computer.
Thanks!

Terrific! There's invisible tables somewhere on the site, I use them for baby grands and the limo front. One will do very nicely keeping simmies from going through the tree. I just love this!!
