*REDOWNLOAD* Sitting Talk/Conversation Hack for Movie Makers (and Storytellers)

Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
*REDOWNLOAD - 1/8/07. Problem with menu items showing for all decorative items should be fixed (I hope). Please let me know if it isn't. Let this file overwrite the old one. Thanks for all the reports that led to the discovery of this issue.*

This hack is for the movie maker or storyteller and is a companion hack to my Talk Standing hack. This hack is a bit different than the standing hack because the talk actions vary (e.g. there are fewer of them) so it's organized a bit differently and includes more actions. The hack is under Hobbies.../Miscellaneous.

The hack menu is divided up into the following ('includes' notes are not exhaustive):

Talk-regular talking actions sitting anywhere (includes talk string loops facing sides and front)
Listen-positive and neutral listening actions sitting anywhere (includes sit still side and front loops)
Listen neg-negative listening actions sitting anywhere (includes roll eyes, bored yawn, embarrassed)
Listen neg (mild)-mild negative listening actions sitting anywhere (includes bite thumb, finger fidget, shy body hold)
Argue-angry talking actions facing front (sorry, no sides were available)
Action-miscellaneous sitting actions (includes sloppy actions, cough, clear throat)
Action neg-negative actions (includes evil and worry actions, electrocuted- note: the sims end up standing somewhere else after the electrocuted stop cue)
Action pos-postive sitting actions (includes head bop, snap fingers, whistle)
Action emotional-sad and crying actions
Reaction pos-positive reactions (includes laugh, giggle, happy dance, clap loop)
Reaction neg-negative reactions (includes embarrased, boo loop, grossed out)
Talk chair-talk animations that only work on chairs (i.e. all but bar stools)
Talk bar-talk animations that only work on barstools
Argue chair-argue animations that only work on chairs (i.e. all but barstools)
Argue bar-argue animations that only work on barstools
Action chair-animations that only work on chairs (i.e. all but barstools) (includes snooze and idle animations and loops)
Action liv chair-animations that only look right on living chairs like sofas and armchairs (includes idle animations and loops)
Action bar-idle sitting animations that only work on barstools (includes male sitting animations and loops, hang out animations and loops, sleep)

*Important Notes*
-The sim face either front, side or next to when animating and the actions are labeled appropriately. If there is no direction indicated, it means the sims face front.
-In the actions under the Talk menu, the sims will switch off facing one side and then another on the 'side' animations. If your sim is autonomously engaged in conversation when you cue the action, they will do it facing that sim.
-In the actions under the Talk chair menu, the sims will only face a certain direction on the 'side' animations depending on where the other sim is sitting. In some cases, you may have to place the sim next to someone off camera so they will face the right direction when they talk and use the 'move_objects on' cheat to move them into position (or alternatively place a sim next to your acting sim and then move them off camera).
-I included a lot of loop animations so that when you have extras in your shots, you can control what they're doing to some extent (e.g. clap loop for an audience scene).

If you're interested in seeing this hack in action (aside from the pics-female is on a chair and male is on a barstool), you can check out the latest episode of my series (AinD Ep. 6). I developed a test version to use and the majority of the scenes were filmed using this hack (some people asked about the animations when I released the episode so it's not just a shamelss plug ).

Enough blabbing. Please try this hack out and let me know how it works for you. Specifically, I would like to know if the hack is functional and organizationally makes sense, including the menu descriptions.

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

Thank you so much, Decorgal! I've been using your other talking hack very extensively of late and now I'm thrilled that you've released the complementary sitting talk hack. I'm positive that this is going to be indispensable to me.

I noticed that a lot of options, espcially the ones that have the Sim facing forward in a chair or bar stool, don't have any Sim voices. While the Sim moves their mouth there are no voices to go with it. Is there perhaps any way to correct this?

Has anyone else had this problem? Carmilla, you might try emptying your download folder and seeing if maybe it's a hack conflict. I've been told this hack conflicts with Targa's photography backdrops.

Hmm...I didn't even notice that because I mute the simlish in the game. Unfortunately, my hacking knowledge is quite limited so I'm sorry that I have no idea how to fix it. Do you really need the voices? Since this hack is for making movies, we usually don't want the voices and do English (or whatever language) voiceovers for it.

Can you try moving your downloads folder content of everything but this hack and see if it still does that? Did you also see a few posts above about the conflict with the photography backdrop? I'd like to find out what's causing this. Thanks.

Hi, I don't know whether or not this is a problem, but I thought I'd report that even when I don't have the painting anywhere on the lot, all my decorative objects no longer have the option to be viewed. What happens instead is that clicking on a decorative object like a sculpture or painting now pulls up the hack's menu. I don't have Targa's photography backdrop installed.

I also have all the expansion packs and stuff packs, if it helps. Other than this, the hack is working and is something I would definitely need in my game.

I would like to report the same as above, all decorative objects of any kind now have these menus - which dont do anything incidently. I can not find any conflicts and I dont have any photography backdrops (not even sure what that is really). Thanks.

Likewise for me, too (menus appear on decorative items). . . and it seems to be making my game a bit laggy at times since I installed it (like when pets come on the property, pets change activities, etc.) but it might be something else that's doing that particular problem, so . . .

I can't get it to work either for me.
I have a lot of other hacks and I have a few global hacks installed. I don't have Targa's photography background. I have all the EP's except for Pets. Also every time I click onto a decorative item, it shows the menu for this hack. And whenever I select something from that menu, my sim doesn't do the animating. I'm not sure what's causing this problem...

EDIT: Okay, it seems to work fine if I just close the game, delete the hack, and place it back again in the Downloads folder, restart the game... but once you save the lot, and close the game, and if you restart it, the hack disappears from the Buy catalogue. I noticed that this also happens with the Talk hack (the one with Emma's picture). Just thought I'd report this... By the way, I love your AinD series. Thanks for this hack!

Quite often when I make movies within the game I make them into "foreign films". For one, because I don't know many people to do voiceovers; and two because it actually works pretty well, and makes things quite humerous, as a "foreign film".
So that's why I asked about it, because usually I do use the Sim's voices.

Hi,

I have been using the original and didn't know there was a problem until I read this and checked. So far I only found one other item that have the options as this. It is a chain that I thought would be used in bondage type scenes. I don't know if this item was supposed to to have it's own options or was just decoration, but nothing esle seems to be affected. Do you think the update is needed in this case?

I have all of the movie making tools and think they are all great! Please give me a headz up if you come up with some new stuff. Maybe something with fight, action, & stunt sequences! Thanks and keep up the good work!

Master Mike- that is odd! This hack's options shows up on the chains? I don't know what could be causing that at the moment. I haven't had any more reports on this issue so I'm hoping it's just a hiccup or something.

Nope Starwyn. I've got Squinge's Hula hack (plus a ton of other hacks) and it doesn't conflict.
