[OUTDATED] Changing Lot size after building and/or playing (Archived)

EDIT (by MTS2 Staff)
Unfortunately, as some of you already know, Andi8104 has prematurely deceased, and therefore the LotExpander is no more supported by him.
Luckily, some skillful users, Sorcerer and Mootilda, decided to continue developing this project.

The last (outdated) version released by Andi it attached to this post, and works with any game up to OFB included.

The current "latest version" is the Lot Expander by Mootilda; read the additional info and game compatibility at Mootilda's thread.

In any case keep in mind that the Lot Expander (any version) can break your lots, and damage you neighborhoods; therefore, if you don't make a backup of your neighborhood and suffer damages due to a (mis)usage of the Lot Expander, don't blame anyone but yourself

(Original post by Andi8104)

First of all: sorry for my bad English. And at all the developers of you: sorry for the terrible coding.

Release 1.2.1:

A few bug fixes for the 'over the road' option.
E.g. the problem with the portals reported by Numenor is fixed.

Release 1.2:

Some bugs are fixed:

The problem with the 'flying' roofs, reported by TheCoffeeBear is solved now.

Sometimes there where some locked tiles on extended lots, so you can't build on it. This is fixed now.

Sometimes your Sims was buried or stick into walls after enlarging. This problem is not really fixed (The OBJT resources of the Sims are too complex for me, I think), but it is now easier to solve it. Just break up the actually action of such Sims and wait a few seconds. Now they were normally playable.

New Features:

You'll find a new Checkbox:

Checking it will bring you the following message, witch explains the functionality:

Now you also can choose the Next button without changing a value:

Release 1.1:
Now you can choose the direction of enlarging the lot.

Release 1.0:
I've written a little program to enlarge lots after building/playing:

LotExpander

It allows you to expand lots up to size 6 x 6 with a few mouse clicks (see pictures below). You can change both, Width and Height, in one Cycle. LotExpander offers English and German language GUI. You do no longer need SimPE or my Word macro for enlarging Lot. The problem described in post #8 is solved.

You need Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 to run LotExpander!

The program is using some DLLs from SimPE (included in Setup).
Big thanks for Quaxi for this and his whole work for the community!

LotExpander is released under GPL
You also can get the source code here.

Small Lots:
In attachment of this Post you'll find a complete set of Nx1 residential lots (N = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).
These Lots are created with base game, so they will work with or without any EP.
If you are interested on Nx1 community lots, have a look at this post from MaryLou: #100
Moreover, there are some 1xN residential lots by Nightguy82 at Post #339
Now everyone can create lots of his/her wish size with LotExpander.
Operating System: Windows
Utility Type: Save Editors
Plugin Type: Not Applicable

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

LotExpander enlarge the lot, ignoring the other lot.
You have to replace the expanded lot to somewhere there is enough space.

Not sure exactly what you are looking to do...

but hmmm, would that not leave the option of having part of your land in the sea...

could you not take the water tool over that lifted land, and create part of your land actually in the sea, then you could level out some of the land and add sand ?

in therory it makes sense.

also you could use that to make a port or anything.

good for lighthous maybe.

It time for me to upload something...
I might play with this idea some with this tool.

well anyway...
good luck

You want a tool to lower a lot and /or a trick to place the lot in the sea ? I want it so !
I am not good enougth but the water heigth seems to be a program value, sure it can be changed but in a patch because it is not included in a package or a txt file ( it remain the same in the lot and in the nbhood part of the game. I search in the nbh.txt or pack... i just learn how crash the game !

You know a site allowing re-upload of free build/buy stuff in lots ? Help us to update the list !

there are fake ways I know to accomplish this.
here is a good tutorial for illusion
http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=131752

I know this is not what any of us want but it's a start.

through some mistakes and this program I may be able to make a "real swimmable beach" with real water.

Later when I load sims I will try to find neighborhood that connects close enough to sea, then I will play with some idea's.

Attention Inge...
What Neighborhood file are you using that allowed you to exend the land into the sea?

I know this tuto, sims can swim in the sea part of a lot, you just need a 4 click depth water and 1 click up to the level to place the pol tools. It works bus it is imposible to upload this is a 1 click difference ! More : between 2 identic nbhoods there is a possible diference of about 2 click in the same lot !

you can also alter the terain & the nbhood txt, but after the lot placemnt. The dowload exist here (MTS2_336633_d_unit_Lots_With_Water_Hack.zip) in the mod section.

You have read these threads ? http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=184564
and http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=107988

I want to kwon if it is a way to build directly on the sea side

I made a terraine at http://www.sims2workshop.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=439 which is specially suitable for making dipped beach lots.

Default Interesting results with program
I mangaed to use the program.

Lets see, My sims were Burried under ground, My roof is floating in air.

I abandoned lot, although everything is fixable easily, The lot itself has some type of bug... grrr, that what you get for downloading others work.

the default mailbox and trashcan were moved, I think this is what messed everything up, possible even the *burried sims"

I have encloded screenshots for the humour of the situation .

first two are of burried sim, and third one is of the property , you cant miss which one this is, its the only one, with a roof in the middle of the air.

Program is GREAT, and thanks

Are you interested of Lots with size 1x1 or 2x1?

Would it be possible for you to make a 4x1,5x1,6x1 lots please? I can only use small size lots and would love them for community lots.

Thanks

Can I add this download to my download page at my site?
sircoffeebear.com
http://sircoffeebear.com/index.php?name=Downloads

Also there is a link to a word file with a macro, I no longer have word installed, I perfer 602. Is there any other way to use the "old" Macro file without word ? I am curious again at a few of the glitches that cause with SimPE.

Are you going to make any more programs?
Would love to see more of SimPE seperated.
I LOVE SimPE, just so heavy on my system.

I just installed post nuke... I like it, my project will be updated there as well, will keep inital link above , maybe useful for you folks.

Thank you Niol will check it out. You seem to be the turorial "king" if I need help finding somthing may I im you?

patul: would you want to help me with the project, since you been playing with part of my project for some time?

I have some great concepts, I am working on my own sc4 file now. I think with my concept, this tool and the 1x1 lot, with the tutorials and "glitches" I might have the ability to do what I want. Igne, you could help to if you want.
or anyone else.

kiwianagirl - the link to them is in this thread, I plan to use them and this tool to create the project I am working on. I am determined.

Coffee : no problem, ask tell me how I can help you in this prooject.
Pealse starts a new thread for it.
I think that theese posts are not really in the right place here, keep it clean for Andi's purpose. And if other simmers are interessed, they cant imagine find it in "enlarge lots" !

The Code you enter is the image. there will be a picture of letters and or numbers, that is the code you enter into the box.

Max3D that's why I think I'd like a version that didn't touch the road at all. Actually I have had windows placed ok over a road? I made a motorway service station out of two lots on opposite sides of the road, and put the tables in the "bridge" that goes over the road.

In attachment of this Post you'll find a complete set of X x 1 lots (X = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).
These Lots are created with base game, so they will work with or without any EP.

I am only using this so far to adjust lots when they are in their final place. I am using it as a trick to get joined up housing. I could use it nicely as a way to get houses over the road, or to do what Max did without the associated problems, if the road was not recreated.

By the way, many thanks for one of the most groundbreaking tools to come out in recent times
