This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below the description for more information.

DESCRIPTION AND INFO
---------------------------------------------------------

The "CounterCulture" furniture is kinda boring... right? WRONG!
If you think so, it's because you've never tried our "CounterCulture" Modular Kitchen Set! :D

Your kitchen will never be the same, with this marvellous set of counters, islands, appliances and floors!

Here is what you'll never find in other kitchen sets:

  • [Pic1] [Pic2] [Pic3] You can now connect flawlessly counters, island and bar counters, without ugly "back trims" on the counters, and perfectly pairing the surfaces of the islands and the counters!
  • [Pic4] You can create fancy-shaped islands, mixing and matching the modules (Slim Counter and Islands, Island Top, and even the original Maxis counters) at your heart's content!
  • [Pic5] The appliances are coordinated with the counters, and they are really encased in the counter: no metal panels will be visible!
  • [Pic6] You can finally put small appliances on the corner counter, and make your sims use them!
  • [Pic7] Coordinated flooring is provided along with the set, in both Wood and Marble!

GAME COMPATIBILITY
The entire "CounterCulture" Modular set is compatible with any game, from the base game to Seasons.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
The "Collection" files are NOT to be put in the Downloads! They go in (Documents)\EA Games\Collections.
All the other files go into your Downloads folder. If you have problems, you'll find all the information you may need in this thread: please read it carefully before asking "Can you post it in ZIP, please?" And when you have read that thread, DON'T ask for zips! :D

THE "COLLECTION" FILES
The Collections do not contain any object: they are just a list of all the CounterCulture items.
Once installed, you can open the collections from the Buy Mode catalog (click on the icon that looks like a folder) and you will find all the existing collections. Among them, there is the "CounterCulture Set", that groups together all the CCulture items, including the coordinated floors and the Maxis counters.

RECOLOURS
All the counters and the islands borrow the textures from the original Maxis "CounterCulture" counter: therefore, if you want to recolour our set, just create a recolour for the Maxis counter. On the other hand, every recolour for the Maxis counter that you may already have in your Downloads will be automatically available for the whole "CounterCulture" set.
Only exceptions are the Appliances (Trash compactor and Dishwasher): they have their own texture, that must be recoloured separately.

POLY COUNT
Our counters and appliances are derived from the Maxis original: in some cases, the poly count of our meshes is slightly lower than the Maxis originals; and in most cases it is greatly lower than Maxis'
In detail, here is the poly count (for each category, we provide a range, min->max):
  • Counters: Faces 239->1411 / Vert 334->1510
  • Slim Islands: Faces 471->1502 / Vert 788->2577
  • Island Tops: Faces 108->456 / Vert 124->1093
  • Appliances: Faces 1165->1570 / Vert 1551->1964

CREDITS
MaryLou for all the meshes and custom textures;
Numenor for animations, usable corners and various "hidden" tweakings...
Maxis for the original CounterCulture counters.

LICENCE AGREEMENT
DO NOT CLONE - DO NOT REPOST ANYWHERE
You can freely create recolours, and post them on any site, but DON'T INCLUDE THE MESHES IN YOUR RECOLOURS; post a link to this thread, instead.
You can include this set in lots uploaded to completely free sites (NO EXCHANGE!), as long as you grant credits to MaryLou and Numenor and you provide a link to this thread (not just to MTS2!).

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

They are all custom objects and show up in sycamorepearl color (pink) with the little star.

Hi first off I think the counters are awesome!!
I did a recolor and found when I put the counters in the corner (3 of the same counter) it shows a back trim on one side of the corner counter?

this is made on purpose as that object is mainly a connecting element.

Yes, Fat_D is right.

To be precise, the "NoBackTrim" corner is supposed to have always one side against a wall: infact, if there is no wall on either sides of the corner, you'd better use an Island, to create the corner; and if both sides of the corner are placed against a wall, then you'd better use a Maxis counter.

Look at the attached screenshots to see the proper usage of the various elements:
- the items in green are the Maxis counters (always against a wall)
- the items in red are the "NoBackTrim" counters (always far from the wall, except the corner, that has only one side against the wall)
- the items in white are the Slim Islands (always far from wall, including the corner)
Screenshots

I've finally started my Journal. Information only, no questions.

ahhhh cool so what your saying is when using your tops one side has to be next to a wall when its used as a corner but if your putting in a duel sided wall corner your better off using the basic top.

and if your placing it in a corner that has no walls that you should use an island (provided your game can use them to corner)?

thats cool ... guess i need to buy NL haha

I love the counters. Simply Awesome. But I have many "L" type corners that would need the Maxis counters to not look odd. I'm still going to use these counters against two walls whenever possible just for the use of the corners but I noticed (I think it was Fat D) had something for corner use. I was wondering if there might be something in the works so that you could use a corner for the Maxis counters that would not interfere with these counters. So when you do have to use the Maxis ones, you could still use the corners. I know it's pushing it but I was just wondering. Either way, I still think the counters are great and plan on using them all over the place.

A little something amusing btw. Right above the original message above from Numenor, you'll see a message from Fat D. If you are reading these messages straight down all you see is ... (from the bottom little script from Fat D's message) I do not have an underscore in my name! Then exactly underneath it, all you see is ... Yes, Fat_D is right.

Lol. Just thought I'd share.

Oh, you don't have an underscore in your name! Lol! Sorry :p

Bunny, this project is still in progress: many other additions will be made; amongst them, we'll add counter corners with no back trim at all, hanging cabinets and lots of other stuff.

And regarding the usable corners for the Maxis corners, I've asked to Fat D (without underscore :D) to remove the mod he made, because I'm going to release a bigger mod that will implement usable corners for *all* the MAxis counters, including the CounteCulture ones.

Don't worry about the underscore, now you know and it's fine.

I write Unibrowed_Penguin's (TS1 moderator at simlogical) name without underscore whenever I spell it out (except this time)

I wouldn't have brought it up but I just noticed it and thought it was funny. It even looked like a response to your subscript when I scrolled fast:
"I do not have an underscore in my name!"
"Yes, Fat_D is right ... he does not have an underscore in his name..."

Lol.

Numenor: Thank you so much. That's really awesome to know. And it's great that all of you plan on doing all of that. I really appreciate all the effort everyone is putting into this work and I'm looking forward to it immensely.

And thanks Fat D for being so gracious to hold up on your work so that there could be additional work done and there wouldn't be any conflicts.

I hate to be annoying, and if this isn't possible that is fine, but I don't understand rar files at all. Therefore, I can only download zipped.
Is there any way you could make this a zip file? I would be forever grateful.

If not, thats okay too...fantastic idea too.
