This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below the description for more information.

This was my christmas present for you. It has been expanded after christmas, but the main set was a christmas gift.

This set is composed of many individual objects that are created to be used together (that's why it is a set). It developed from my 2nd generation of Half-Walls (my most popular objects so far), with which i was faster than the nightlife release. The nightlife Half-Walls had their advantages and disadvantages, and I believe each method has its own use. While the NL-Halfwalls are wallpaperable fences that are great to finissh balconies and decks, I believe mine are better for interior use. I've added many other parts, some of which were requested, some came just in my mind during creation (I had finished all but five items at least three times). It is very modular and you can make crazy creations with it, like B-shaped windows (I used a more "moderate" C-shaped window as an example of crazy ideas). The objects work well with, but don't require, Numenor's Wall-Windows (Link) . I have hacked a window and set it to use one of his meshes. You will need his hidden window from his seamless set. Thanks to numenor for the mesh, the glass colour and for allowing me to link it.
The wall-side boards may seem useless for now, the reason I made them are future creations such as pseudo-through-wall counter islands and bars, wall-doors and similar. for now, they just serve as a nice wall-finish (metal and wood/paint parts with different materials, free combination of wallpaper and paneling) or for the creation of fake-walls. Examples for both are in the screenshots.


The set includes numerous objects, most with similar meshes, most have a polycount of 24 vertices and 12 Faces, which is very low. The others, consisting of two of the first listed, therefore have a 48/24 poly count.
The wall-side board have a polycount of 8/4.

Installation: Download the main package and any number of colour options (but at least the white one). Optionally you can also download the glass piece (thanks to numenor again) to make windows with the set. You can use that if you have Numenor's seamless Wall-Window. If you have used my halfwalls before, also download the legacy files and delete the old set (except the helper window (the window, not the later helper object) if you still use it). Now all of you who downloaded, both the new guys and the veterans from my Half-Walls, extract all archives you downloaded from this post to a subfolder of your downloads folder.
Also download and extract the wall-side board "default" colozur option, optional the maxis-match one

Upgrade (note: not upgrade from my halfwalls, but from an older version of the design kit): check the version.txt in your downloads folder and choose the upgrade download link that matches your version. If you use Q-Xpress, no version.txt will be extracted, so all versions newer than 1.00 will include an in-game object that tells the version number. If you don't have that object, it's 1.00, else it's on the object. Version 1.02 doesn't have the version.txt updated, just look at the ingame-object.

None of the items (except the legacy files) have been tested without the addons, but they should not require any (theoretically) and are compatible with every. They are color enabled (but you have to clone an existing recolor as i use imaginary CRES, which means the objects all borrow their recolours from an object that doesn't exist). All the objects can be found in build mode- doors and windows-windows or in buy mode-general-misc. The non-legacy files are included in a custom collection inside the main download.

All included meshes were created by myself using milkshape, using numenor's wall-windows as a reference for positioning.

Feel free to remesh, recolor, hack, or in any other way use these objects for your creations, as long as the objects are free, you give credit and link back to this thread. If you want to distribute these objects on pay sites or distribute them unchanged (for example in a lot on the exchange), ask me and wait for permission.

Oh, yeah, no diagonals, I nearly forgot.

Troubleshooting: If you have any questions, ask in the thread after double-checking you followed the instructions properly.

Dec 25 - added notice about versions for Q-Xpress
Dec 25 - added the helpers missing due to bad packaging
Dec 26 - added a hacked glass piece using numenor's wall-window mesh. It's optional, so no new version.
Dec 31 - added diagonal (like my arrow, not for diagonal walls) beam, together with an "anything-possible-screenshot"
Jan 08 - added wall-side boards and diagonal corner helper, updated beams for creation of "fake-halfwalls", added vertical beams that fit corners.

First of all I want to thank you for this wonderful set, and apologize for being a nuisance on Christmas day, but I have a few questions (and I really think I followed the instructions!) so sorry if this post is a bit long!
:umm:

-First of all I have your older half wall set, I have a sub folder with the following files:
- fatd-halfwall-base.package
- fatd-halfwall-counter-corner.package
- fatd-halfwall-counter-helper-otherside.package
- fatd-halfwall-counter-helper.package
- fatd-halfwall-counter-main.package
- fatd-halfwall-counter-open.package
This I've used in a few houses and works fine

I downloaded the set in this thread:
- MTS2_194425_Fat D_fatd-designkit + the color options
and tested it on a version of my game without downloads (I use it for testing only, not to play) and this worked fine too (I could actually use it, it is really a great set!)
Then I tested it in my "real" game, that has many downloads in it, and it crashed!
I tried downloading the legacy files too and deleting the old folder, but it still didn't work...
Maybe it's an ID conflict with another download or something?
What files must I keep from your old set and what do I get rid of?

Another funny side-effect is that after crashing the game one of my USB ports is dissabled!

Another question: in your screenshots I can see you use "helpers" of differenty heights to finish of your windows, but I only can find the counter ones (from the old set, I guess). Do they need an EP or did you use a cheat?

they should be in the new collection. you will have to delete your previous set before installing the new one (that's why I included the legacy files) as the lower half-wall board, the inside corner and the color options are the same as on the half-walls, just slightly remade as I found som issues. There shouldn't be any conflicts if you delete the old stuff, as they all have registered GUIDs andunique CRES names. The only file you should keep if you have it is the "fatd-halfwall02.package", if you had ever had it. I suggest deleting and redownloading any files starting with "fatd-". This way, you can make sure you don't have any of my half-walls left. then, download the main part of this set, any number of recolours (but at least the white one) and the legacy files (if one or more houses in your game include my helpers or the open part). The new helpers are all in the new collection (green background with blue lines, yellow writing on it) after the main boards and their corners (I think) and look like copies of my old helper with variable thickness.

I spotted a really big problem, it will be fixed soon. I forgot to include the helpers. Thanks to alexpligrim for mac test. I also did a x86 NoEP-Test and it worked fine.

not stairs, only windows.it's no replacement for boolprop, and they are among the others in the collection. look under windows or into the collection.

Which files do I have to keep, or are they all outdated. I think the nightlife and numenor labeled ones are okay to stay, am I right? Then which should I download. I want all the recolors but I'm confused with the version info. I'm sort of lost.

the nightlife halfwalls are independant of this set, as are the ones which have numenor right after my name (Wall-Window recolors). All fatd-halfwall files are outdated, fatd-numenor-halfwall files were my first attempt at halfwalls, they have been replaced by both of my sets. you can get rid of them if you don't have them in any house. However, they won't conflict with my design kit. I will give an explanation to all of your files:

fatd-halfwall-base.package - outdated, you can still use it, it's the same as the three color options.
fatd-halfwall-counter-corner.package - outdated, new version in the main package. please delete.
fatd-halfwall-counter-helper-otherside.package - outdated, still in the legacy files, delete, download legacy files if still used in a house.
fatd-halfwall-counter-helper.package - outdated, still in the legacy files, delete, download legacy files if still used in a house.
fatd-halfwall-counter-main.package - outdated, new version in the main package. please delete.
fatd-halfwall-counter-open.package - outdated, still in the legacy files, delete, download legacy files if still used in a house.
fatd-nightlife-halfwall-fence.package - no relations to design kit
fatd-nightlife-halfwall.package - no relations to design kit
fatd_numenor_halfwall_brick.package - no relations to design kit, outdated
