Anyone had any trouble with the files crashing your game?
I have had no problems, but everyone's machine is different. That's why this is a beta test forum.

Ya, I have had crash problems since installing the cars. I was ok on the residential lot and was able to place a car and save with no problem. Then I tried to enter a community lot both with a sim and just in build mode, all 4 times it crashed. I removed the files and I can enter my community lot again.

Hmmm.....It's funny how just loading the model of a car makes the carpool not show up and causes crashes. I had the same problem testing with a carpool car on the lot. It crashed the game. I didn't use any of the code for the car, just the file with the model. Oh well, thanks for trying them everyone. I guess back to useing the cars from wintermuteai1. I guess we will have to use the moveobjects cheat after all.

It *is* funny but every step that we take along the path is a discovery and useful, so it was good to try. I was able to do a lot of whacky things in Sims1 but everything really good was just me trying stuff and being lucky. I think it's great you even try - I haven't even tried yet although several mornings I have woke up knowing I was dreaming all night about the code again, heh Keep on thinking and dreaming too, never know when you'll get lucky and benefit everyone.

Petreak, I think your contribution is very valuable and I will still use the cars for those sims that do not need a carpool, and since I never bother with comm lots I will still use them...I love Winter's cars (all his/her work in fact), but do not want my sims to autonomously kill themselves...call me picky...*grin*

Well, the thing is, if you have any Sims that have to go to work, the car will not come for them or the lot will crash the game. I had a lot I had saved as my sim was arriving home from work, so the carpool car was there. The lot would not load with my cars installed. I had never even bought a car for that lot. It seems any lot, wether you bought a car on it or not will be effected. I'm not sure why making the object based off of a painting (like wintermuteai1 did) makes a difference. I used a vase for my base object, I just changed the model it loads. Must be some code we can't see that makes a difference. I'll keep playing around with the files and see what I can get it to do. Just be carefull and if you want a Sim to go to work, uninstall my cars.

WinterMuteai posted that s/he tried to use something besides a painting as the base and the game always crashed, so someone else had this problem too. I am sure someone will soon figure out why paintings are the only thing you can clone from.

I had no problems with making new objects useing the vase as a base while I was making the no-buyable objects in the game into buyable objects. It's just the cars for some reason that only work with the painting base.

I got the same problem as JohnR2000. Removed the cars, and my carpool showed up again. Darn!

I have to agree.... ALOT. I really would love just to have decorative cars. It would be so cool. I do not like sims killing themselves. x)

What is history but a fable agreed upon?

In the collections file, there's only a read me. Nothing else. Also in the all vehicles.rar only the helicopter shows and that's all that shows in my game. With winter's it was the same problem, however I don't want my simmies to die.

Is it just me that this is happening to?

Not sure why you are having a problem, I just clicked the files I posted and told it to open the files instead of downloading them, and everything was in the .rar files for me.

Not sure why winter decided to make the cars do that stuff. I wish I could get mine to work right. I can't figure out why useing a painting as a base makes it where the carpool comes and mine useing a vase does not. Really makes no since to me. I have tried. Maybe if you ask winter nicely, he will make new versions of his cars.

I can't figure out how to get anything to work like Winter does, Guess it's just over my head. If I had a good tutorial, I could probably do it.

Could you just redo your cars using paintings as bases and then we would at least not have the sims killing themselves off. Would that be too much work for you Petreak? I for one don't mind using the moveobjects cheat, but really like my sims alive better than dead.

these r cool. hey petreak, do u think u could use the animation for the maxis play system (when the sim holds the controller and playing) to make a feature called "play in car" or "pretend to drive"? that would be cool.

Default Important Update
I have fully tested these vehicles on four different systems (computers) and have found the following:

The Limo, Helicopter and UFO are the reason for the carpool failure, when these three are removed from the downloads folder (or sub-folder in my case) the rest of the vehicles work absolutely fine.

I am not sure why these three cause problems and because I didn't feel the need for them in the game I have not bothered trying to fix them, not that I really have the time anyway.

All four systems were running The Sims 2 fully patched (1 & 2), I have also tested with the University Expansion Pack with no problems.

If you still have these installed or downloaded then all you need to do is remove the three vehicles mentioned above from your downloads folder. Alternatively you can download the attached zip file.

The zip file attached contains the original vehicles by Petreak minus the three offending vehicles (the Limo, Helicopter and UFO). I have also taken the liberty of altering their prices, they are not all 10,000 simoleans but vary from 6,000 for the Pizza Car to 32,500 for the Fire Engine.

The price is the only change you will notice from the orginals, therefore full credit for these vehicles and any questions should go to Petreak.

Please note that because I tinkered with the original files and didn't want to overwrite them, they were saved with different file names and therefore you will need to remove the originals (if you have them) before placing these in your downloads folder.

**UPDATE 13/03/05** zip File removed to avoid confusion.

Petreak replaced his original zip at the start of this thread with the one that was here, so please download that one.

Thanks calakarad for doing all the testing on the cars.
I updated the first message in this thread with your .zip file attached to it and added the updated info.
