Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
Cost etc, see below.
Nightlife and OfB required for all lots.
No custom content.

All lots are tested and unplayed (I test copies, not the actual uploads).

Three more community lots to accompany the Backdoor Lane houses -- they'll fit in nicely since they have the same pavement, street lights etc. Useful to fill gaps or to create some open spaces without leaving the terrain entirely blank. Hope you like =).

1. Kiosk
(i.e., a newspaper stand -- is "Kiosk" an international word? Not sure)
8.345§, lot size 1x1: a small booth that sells magazines and games (not ultra realistic, but I wanted to have something on sale on the counter). Works as an owned business too, if your sim isn't too demanding -- there's a toilet squeezed in the back + a nice armchair to sit on.

2. Dump
104.300§, lot size 2x2: No idea if/how you're going to use this in-game ... it's a rubbish dump, with two nice elaborate piles of (mainly electronic) garbage and an open shed in the corner. You could probably set up a store in the shed and pretend it's recycled/second-hand items -- in any case I wouldn't set anything *on* the garbage piles on sale, since those objects are all moveobjectsed/off-grid, you're likely to end up with dozens of misplaced restock signs in all corners of the lot.

3. Cemetary
54.596§, lot size 2x3: A park-like little graveyard, with a small shed with toilets inside (no floorplan included, but it's basically like the one in this thread except that it also has a changing table). You can sit and relax, admire the beautiful fountain, and/or play a round of chess in memoriam of some dead Knowledge sim. (There are no dead sims lurking on this lot -- the gravestones are all from frillen's collection linked below and purely decorative.)

- Kiosk, Front / Back / Floorplan
- Dump, View from Pile 1 to Pile 2 / Overview
- Cemetery, Overview / View towards front / View towards back (looks pretty at night, as well)

Thank you:
This collection (frillen) as well as this one (loba) and that one (windkeeper), the mini lots by Andi8104 and the ones based thereupon (MaryLou) have been very useful in making the Backdoor Lane neighbourhood. Thanks for making them available.

Please don't PM me with neighbourhood terrain requests (look in the Neighbourhoods section instead), downloading issues (I can't help you -- look in Site Issues, Q-XPress forums etc), or Build Mode questions (general questions go here, lot specific questions in the d/l thread). Thanks.

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

Your stuff is fantastic. You're one of the only designers who thinks about what really belongs in a community. This whole series is thoughtful and fun!

The garbage dump is really cool. I'm thinking it could be used as a teen hangout where they could throw some drunken parties and burn some bon-fires.

deanna12 -- yes, the bonfire would fit in perfectly! I don't have Uni or I'd have put it in myself =). Another use would be that of a real simulated rubbish dump -- whatever objects a sim doesn't want anymore, he drops them off here (and maybe a neighbour picks them up later).

One thing is a little strange with the dump: there's two lamps on it, so by default the pile will be illuminated at night. I left them there, since this is probably the only time I'm going to use them ... just pretend it's radioactive. (Or turn them off manually, of course)

okydoky -- please post in the QXPress forums with QXpress problems. Link is in the original post.

Real cute! And no kiosk is not an international word - in South Africa we'd call it a stand or a stall! Thanks for sharing.

The garbage was great fun! Very much recommended waste of time =). (Tip, if anyone wants to fiddle with this kind of thing: Start at the top of the pile, not at the bottom. Objects tend to come up with slots in the weirdest places ...)

I have downloaded all your Backdoor Lane lots, and hit the thanks button along the way. I finally spent time in game yesterday installing and exploring them all, and they're WAY better than they seem in the posts. How you make use of every little nook and cranny is amazing! Thank you so much for this series!

Really neat idea, as are all these lots. The only thing that concerns me is that every one of them has given me a QXpress error, though they install fine if unzipped. I've yet to see this error with any other lots or files, so I'm not sure the problem is with QXpress.

This is not a Sims2Pack file! Possible corrupted?

I can't look into those QXpress issues. I'm sorry. I upload/download on a Mac, you see -- I can't even possibly install it to look what the matter may be. Please take it to the QXpress forums ...

(People have been looking at the lots in-game, and they download fine for me as well, so I take it the problem is *not* with the files.)

I wonder if the Mac-thing may be related, and to me, it's not something that stops me from using the files, just a glitch I can't figure out. Good to have the further information, so I appreciate that, and yes, I definitely love these lots.
