For sims that are sick of living in the suburbs, Backdoor Lane provides an alternative: a couple of small town lots with a more urban look and feel. They fit together like a jigsaw puzzle, creating a maze of backyard gardens and interconnected alleyways when placed in a tightly spaced neigbourhood. Most of them work as corner lots as well as facing the street, creating a very different impression depending on how you place them and what's on the lot next door.

Backdoor Lane 21
is a somewhat run-down building with six apartments, two of them for a single sim only (those aren't bigger than a small trailer), three others that will work for a couple, and one for up to 3 sims (double bedroom plus a tiny extra room). The house has a basement with 6 small compartments, one for each tenant, where people have stored all sorts of crap. Not very useful if you plan on raising a large family, but excellent to stuff some neglected townies/singles/NPCs into.

For discussion and pointers on playing multi-household lots, please see Backdoor Lane 10.

All apartments have a bathroom, four of them only a tiny one (shower + toilet). Four are fully furnished, the other two empty except for kitchen and bathroom + basic fixtures (phone, alarms, some lights). Parking for 3 cars in the yard, cars included.

This house sits at a 90°-angle from the street, making it a good corner lot in both directions, but it works well inside a block too (see overview screenshot).

Neighbouring houses on the overview pic (clockwise from bottom left):

- Backdoor Lane 20 (bottom left corner, only the parking lot is visible)
- Backdoor Lane 10, three row houses (beige with black roof, that's the last house in the row)
- Backdoor Lane 08, the one next to/behind this one, facing the parallel street
- Backdoor Lane 16, opposite to 08, at the very top left of the pic
- Backdoor Lane 09, with the big willow tree in the yard
- Backdoor Lane 19, in the top right corner
- Backdoor Lane 02, to the right of this house

(Streetlights are missing on that picture, but I've added them afterwards)

- Outside view, front and back
- Floor plans, ground floor / top floor / basement
- Overview, ground floor
- Lot overview
- 4 x interior: tiny one-sim apartment with view over the roofs / single bedroom with picturesque view of the neighbouring parking lot / living room/kitchen looking out on a bare wall / bedroom with beautiful view of the neighbour's trash cans. Not that there's so much to see *in* those rooms, but I always find it so fascinating to look out of the windows and actually seeing the neighbouring lots =)

Thank you:
This collection (frillen) as well as this one (loba) and that one (windkeeper), the mini lots by Andi8104 and the ones based thereupon (MaryLou) have been very useful in making the Backdoor Lane neighbourhood. Thanks for making them available, as well as for the driveway of course.

Please don't PM me with neighbourhood terrain requests (look in the Neighbourhoods section instead), downloading issues (I can't help you -- look in Site Issues, Q-XPress forums etc), or Build Mode questions (general questions go here, lot specific questions in the d/l thread). Thanks.

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

This is absolutely perfect for offloading some townies I want to take out of the pool and make playable but don't want to spend too much time working on their houses/families. I love this whole series btw.
