Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
Nightlife required.
Custom content included: Invisible Driveway by roddyaleixo, Open Underneath Deck Stairs by crocobaura

If you want to install the stairs properly, please follow the directions given in the thread linked above. This lot will work just fine if you don't, but you won't be able to select or change the stairs or use them in other lots (they won't show up in the catalogue, which is what the installation procedure is for).

Description:
For sims that are sick of living in the suburbs, Backdoor Lane provides an alternative: a couple of small town lots with a more urban look and feel. They fit together like a jigsaw puzzle, creating a maze of backyard gardens and interconnected alleyways when placed in a tightly spaced neigbourhood. Most of them work as corner lots as well as facing the street, creating a very different impression depending on how you place them and what's on the lot next door.

Backdoor Lane 38
Four small row houses for 2-3 sims each, kind of an all-in-one version of Backdoor Lane 29a/b/c/d but with a slighty different floorplan. Not suitable for large households or shopping addict sims .. this is what goes as "townie dump" in my game.

Each house has:
1 x double bedroom (walkthrough)
1 x single bedroom/study
2 x bathroom
1 x kitchen/dining/living

All houses are fully furnished. Three of them have a basement as well, with access from the front porch (the one not on the screenshot is just like the other two). One basement I've furnished for a single sim who for some reason or other needs to live in a hideout. Parking for three cars (included) in front of the houses.

If you've questions on how to play multi-household lots, please check out Backdoor Lane 10 for discussion and pointers.

Thank you:
This collection (frillen) as well as this one (loba) and that one (windkeeper), the mini lots by Andi8104 and the ones based thereupon (MaryLou) have been very useful in making the Backdoor Lane neighbourhood. Thanks for making them available, as well as for the driveway and stairs I've used in this lot. Extra thanks to Numenor for the BaseGameStarter, without which Seasons/OfB-less people wouldn't be able to use this lot.

Please don't PM me with neighbourhood terrain requests (look in the Neighbourhoods section instead), downloading issues (I can't help you -- look in Site Issues, Q-XPress forums etc), or Build Mode questions (general questions go here, lot specific questions in the d/l thread). Thanks.

Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

I too created my new neighborhood, called (not original...?) SimCity and I think it's my best city ever.
And... I realy love british "terraced" houses. Here in Poland we have just bad, old habitable blocks

Great work plasticbox! I think terraced houses were the one thing Maxis shouldn't have left out in the base game.

If I change the type of this house to apartmentbase, can I rent a room and use the driveway in front of my door properly?

I have managed to convert several of these houses to be as per apartments (in the Apartment Life EP) but this lot WILL NOT convert. I have tried removing the doors at the back and the like but there is an error here I cannot find. It's a shame as this would have been a great lot If anyone manages to crack how to convert this one, can they please let me know?

I have solved the problem!!! Apartment Life is not always too clever when it comes to cellars in apartments. The fix was to delete the stairs to all the cellars and fill in the floor, also deleting any objects which were in the first cellar. Once access was cut off, no problems converting and I now have four nice houses which multiple sims can rent. :-)
