I'm back again, and this time I've got another house for you from my Normal Houses collection. This sort of house seems to turn up everywhere in the suburbs, and yet I've never seen one made for the Sims--until now.

Dutch Colonial architecture isn't necessarily the most ornate style of housing out there, but that doesn't make it any less significant as far as the history of American suburbs go. And besides--they sure look cozy! Anyway, Dutch Colonial houses are known for their distinctive barn-like roofs with overhanging eaves, dormed windows, off-centered chimneys, and (typically) wood siding exteriors.

This particular house is fairly small, and is probably best either for a couple that's just starting out or for a family that only has one child. You could easily put an expansion on the back, however, and the garage could easily be converted into a spare room. (It's too small to actually hold a car, anyway... but that's not really a problem, since no one actually uses their garages ).

There's a patio out back, a bathroom tucked behind the staircase so that it's out of the way, and a fireplace in the living room. The bedrooms upstairs are kind of small, but then again, so is the rest of the house.

Well, that's about it. Enjoy!

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

Thank you. Excellent job with the Gambrel roof, I'm surprised more people don't know how to make them. You did a wonderful job of capturing the Dutch Colonial style. I can't wait to see the next part in this series!
