Harry Potter Collection: St. Mungos Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries

LOT INFORMATION
Initially, I was NOT inspired by this lot UNTIL I realized I needed to disguise a building inside a building! This was great fun to create. The exterior says: Purge & Dowse, Ltd. It is a clothing store! Or is it! The interior reveals St. Mungo's Hospital. I decided to make my lot version of this hospital residential because I prefer to be in total cotrol of who comes and goes to the hospital! The exterior doors are actually BLOCKED! To gain entry into the hospital, witches and wizards must provide a password to an "ugly" mannequin and walk through the window...SO...I have provided a fake mannequin wallpaper and used an invisible door so your Sims can do the same!

Other Information:

THANK YOU!
I owe the deepest of gratitude to all the extraordinary artists whose objects helped to bring my vision of Harry Potter's Magical World to life! Thank you for sharing your time and talent with the Sim community. Thank you to the following artists for helping to bring a little "magic" to the Sim World: pfish, rebecah, Ailias , John Brehaut1 and Lethe_s . Be sure to browse the links at the end of the post for other fabulous downloads by each artist!

My London Style Phone Booth!
The London Style Red Phone Booth you see is actually created from wallpaper (got the idea from Cyclonesue of TSR). My walls are a little darker because I needed something to match the Maxis red windows and it makes a perfect little phone booth for residential neighborhoods to keep phones outside for calling cabs.

ADDITIONAL DOWNLOADS!
Although the following items are NOT included in the download, I thought it would add a little authenticity to this lot:
- Mannequins and Recolors by Menaceman44
- Mannequins in Dress & Recolors by Menaceman44

MY TEXTURES:
All stephanie b. walls, floors and ground covers included in houses downloaded from MTS2 can be used in lot creations on any free or pay site as long as I receive credit for the textures. Please do not post my textures (walls, floors or groundcovers) or lots on other sites without my permission or reupload them as your own by giving them color face-lifts without giving me credit for the original design. Thank you!

NOT A CARBON COPY:
These lots are creations from my imagination based mainly on excerpts from the books and on-line information. I am basing very little on the movie versions of each place, so don't expect exact replica's of movie versions of the various places in the Magic and Muggle World.

MY VISION FOR HARRY POTTER NEIGHBORHOOD:
My vision for this neighborhood is that the students do not "live" in Hogwarts. I see the school as home to only a few teachers (Dumbledore, McGonagall, Trelawney). Everyone else is spread out in either their family homes or in the Summer Houses.

MY SOURCE:
I used the floorplans found on the Harry Potter Lexicon site as inspiration. For extensive Potter INFORMATION, checkout the HP Lexicon here: www.hp-lexicon.org

Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

Ooh, I really like your design of Purge and Dowse/St. Mungo's! I think this is one of my favorite exteriors yet. Although I am particularly excited for Shell Cottage and the Lovegood's house next week, since those are two of my favorite households. <3 And I'm sure you'll do an admirable job like you always do! Thanks again for sharing all your wonderful Harry Potter lots with us.

Thanks rebecah for your download, compliment and providing the "invisible" windows I used to keep this lot a "secret" from the Muggles.

Starfish,
I'm learning to use bolder colors and textures in odd mixtures. Hey...Shell Cottage is complete. It took two days. One day to muck it up and the second day to start over again. The house wasn't the issue, but the landscaping! I finally have a look I'm pleased with though. I used the book (Deathly Hallows) to get the look just right. The Lovegood house is an issue for me though. I want to do so much with it, but the central missing element is round furnishings (counters, fridges, etc.). I will be creative in some way. I will figure it out in the next 3 days!

Ooh, I tried to create my own Shell Cottage a few months ago...The landscaping was a big issue for me too. Can't wait to see it!

Well, I don't know if it's any help, but I did some digging around and found these curved sets. The Study one in particular might be good for counters/tables too. If you're interested, you can find them here. Looking forward to seeing the finished product on Monday! :]

Wow, you made this hospital. Thank for using my invisible door for your lot.

Update: July 2009-I am back now to make invisible and tranparent recolors again in sims 2. You can pm me if you want your objects to be invisible and transparent from now.

Okay...Somehow, I overlooked this!

Thanks Starfish! I did look at them. Problem is that everything needed to be COLORFUL BIGTIME! Thanks for doing the research for me! I did actually download a couple of things from the links! :D

pfish, You are welcomed! :D

This portion has been updated...
kycowgirl...
OH! kycowgirl. I hope the version you built went well! If not, GOOD NEWS! I have fixed the problem. Since I am updating my Harry Potter Collection, I am finding and fixing all the problems INCLUDING the lot NOT SHOWING UP in the download. This is the lot that started all the no lot in the lots bin nonsense. It has nothing to do with custom content. It is because I named several walls in this lot "Purge&Dowse". Because I used the "&" symbol, it created empty packages in the Teleport folder where the lots are stored until they are loaded and placed in the game. I renamed the walls PurgeandDowse or PurgeDowse. Doing this allows the lots to load correctly AND SHOW IN THE LOTS BIN! Simple fix, but at the time that I posted this, I had no clue as to how to fix it. I did a little research and found this solution. I will update the zip file and override the defective version with the fixed version!
