This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below the description for more information.
Testers Needed

*UNTESTED SET*

Ever fancied building your Sims their very own log cabin or mountain retreat?

With this kit, you can!

Like the one above?

This kit contains 'real' log cladding, as well as a few other supporting items.

Items: (Refer to image above)

Rear Centre:

Custom Roof Tiles

Left to right-middle row:

Solo wood column
Log Cladding with column
Log Cladding main wall section
Log Cladding with door, (left and right version)
Log Cladding window section & window
Log Cladding corner section Left & Right
Log Cladding inverted corner section
Remainder of row; roof version of these. (Allows you to have a roof on without the cladding sections poking through the front of the roof)

Left to right-front row:

Log Fence
Matching Modular Stair Fence
Modular Stair
Log Bench

The tree stump you can see in the front of the image above is actually a hacked opbject, made with the assistance and based upon 'Inge Jones' column concealer.

All the cladding items are made using a single column, however, this will make gameplay difficult as columns do not lower with walls. With this item, all you need to do is click on it in Live mode and hide all columns, to make them re-appear, simply click it again and select the relevent option.

Installation:

1: Download and extract ALL files to a folder on your pc, don't put them into your downloads folder just yet.

2: (If you are not planning on using the modualr stairs with this set you can skip to step) You NEED to download numenor's scriptorium from HERE and follow the instructions in that thread to install it.

3: Now, locate the .txt file that came with the download, now, go to your doanloads folder, and click on the 'Modular Stairs' shortcut, and place that .txt file in there.

4: Now, place the remainder of the files, all .package, into your downloads folder itself.

5: Launch the game, and go into the collections folders, and it should be the last one in the list, everything should be in there.

Building Notes:

When building on a second floor, or on a decking, you have a choice:

You can either your the 'moveobjects' cheat, by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+C and typing moveobjects true Type moveobjects false to turn it off again.

OR

You can place a floor tile around the outside edge of your walls. This is needed to allow you to place the cladding. Remember, they think they are columns!

The Column Concealer wont funtion if you are in just build mode, it needs an active sim to work.

I think thats all you need to know for now, please ONLY download this if you are willing to provide contructive feedback.

Other:

You may notice that most of the items have four colours available, although they are all the same. This is for once I have verified there are no major problems with the set, and will be updated in a future release.

Polygon Counts:
All cladding items are around 450 Polys each.
The doors, windows, stairs etc, are all slightly higher than their maxis originals
but remain around 260 Polys.

Please Note: These are columns. It will be like placing a column next to EVERY wall section in your lot. Bear this in mind when building/playing.

Additional Credits:
Huge thanks go to Inge Jones for her assistance with the column concealer hacked object.

*Edit*

The second .rar file is the collection file, I just gave it a bad name

*Updates*

Increased the width of the corner logs, so that they protrude further.
Download ALL files, and allow the 'Update #1' packages to over-write the ones already present in your downloads folder.

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

Wow, great idea! Looks good! I hate the one dimensional look of log wallpaper!

I've never been married, but I tell people I'm divorced so they won't think something is wrong with me.

As promised,I tested a little bit your new cabin set.
First let me congratulate to your set,it is excellent.Everything seems to work fine.As you can see on the first 2 pics, your fence can even be used for the woodconstruction of medieval towers.

There is a little problem with the cornercolumns.I think they should be a little bit "longer" on the cornerend.

More like this,Ithink.

If you can fix this, your whole set will be absolutely perfect.
I will make the four pics disappear in about a week,as it was only to help.
Again, thank you for this marvelous set.

This is awsome ..I actually had an idea to do something like this but turned it down because of the many different windows and doors in game ...There is a way in the Bhavs to make an object go down with the walls or at least disappear when in close ..I did it on my gutters i made ..Check out the tutorials section and you should be able to find the info there ..I just forgot where and who helped me with it ...

PS - you can also make the columns placeable no matter what , with the allow object intersection flag in the bhavs , and as a matter of fact you will need to do this or else your sims will not be able to leave the house if all you items were cloned from a column and function like a column , once again i did this with my gutters and utility poles and had to redo all the files cuz peoples sims were getting stuck in the houses when they had these items on their houses ...

The issue with sims not getting in or out was one I had considored, as a work around, I looked for a Maxis door suitable, and 'added' the log parts to the mesh for the door, so that particular section will think it is a door, because it actually is a door

I agree, and did think about that when making it. It's something I will look into for a future version of this set. At the time of building, I was more interested in getting a working prototype for the set as a whole.

My ultimate aim for this set, is to add it to the maxis walls, so that you can select it when laying down a wall, instead of having to build the walls then add the log cladding.

There are loads more items I am planning on adding to this set, fireplaces, a matching kitchen set, interior stairs etc...

Thanks for DL/Testing this

This is extremely interresting ! I wonder if pets & Bv are really needed or if any extension will make it ?

I put that seasons and BV are needed as it was columns/objects from both that I used in making the set, as to if they will work without them, possibly, I couldnt say either way without trying, and I can't do that as I am running Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and the 'anygame launcher' doesnt work.

I'll test it this week-end and let you know then...

*Later*
Some items DO work with only Uni & Nl, some doesn't. I need a little more time to test everything one by one thoroughly . So far, the main wall are working, so are door and window.

I'll Pm you the results of my testing when done.

This set was built after TSS was released, and I had, (and still do) every EP/SP released to date, so it should work fine with pets.

I'll just wait till it's been tested, all I want to do is build the cabin house and move-in a Sim or Sim family and have at it as if it were part of the Bon Voyage Log Cabin theme!
I just want to place the Log Cabin Custom-Content stuff in my Sims 2 Downloads folder, launch the game and start building without anything new to learn, please!
