Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF MAGIC: Harry Potter's Shell Cottage!

There are 2 versions of Shell Cottage available in this download! The first version was created in detail from Rowling's descriptions in the Harry Potter books. The second version is for non-Potter fans who would simply love to have the cottage in their game! Please enjoy both versions!

Harry Potter Collection: Shell Cottage

Shell Cottage is the home to Bill and Fleur Weasley. It is isolated on a cliff with vast ocean views. The home is small, but kept immaculate by Fleur. It is a beautiful place with a quaint garden with flower beds aligned with white beach stones. The exterior walls of the cottage are covered in seashells! I designed a lighthouse and a tanning pier to fill the lot a little more. This lot was fun to create and hopefully will be just as much fun for your Harry Potter Sims!

Lot Data for Harry Potter: Shell Cottage
RESIDENTIAL LOT / 5 x 6 Lot / §150,232 / Furnished / 2 Bedrooms / 2 Full Bathrooms (upstairs) / Office Desk Area / Parlour (Sitting Room) / Eat-in Kitchen (with Garden exit) / a "special" grave / Covered Front Porch / 2 Car (Invisible) Driveway / Empty & "Working" Lighthouse / Tanning & Fishing Pier

Other Information:

UPDATE:Shell Cottage Only
I have added another version of Shell Cottage below. This version is a replica in design of the original (with 2 tiles more of space than the original). It is the house only and was created by request. I spruced up the garden a little with plants by Macarossi (in addition to all other artist listed in the "Custom Content Included" area below). Be sure to browse Macarossi's items here:

Lot Data for Shell Cottage Residential Lot ONLY
RESIDENTIAL LOT / 3 x 3 Lot / §136,938 / Furnished / 2 Bedrooms / 2 Full Bathrooms (upstairs) / Office Desk Area / Parlour (Sitting Room) / Eat-in Kitchen (with Garden exit) / 1 Car Garage / Extensive Garden with Pond / Attic

I owe the deepest of gratitude to all the extraordinary artists whose objects helped to bring my vision of Harry Potter's Magical World to life! Thank you for sharing your time and talent with the Sim community. Thank you to the following artists for helping to bring a little "magic" to the Sim
World: mzcynnamon, simlifestories, cameranutz2, alex_stanton1983, WitchyWoman, khakidoo, Reyn, Numenor, bienchen83 and marvine. Be sure to browse the links at the end of the post for other fabulous downloads by each artist!

Although the following items are NOT included in the download, I thought they would add a little authenticity to this lot:

The Wooden Rowboat with Paddles by mickyss can be found here:
Note: This link will take you to the decorative boat by the lighthouse used in the images on this page.

The Red and White Mini-Boat With Blue Oars (Bed) by Solgaya can be found here:

If your Spiral Stairs do not show up, be sure to download and install the "animations" (ANIMS) file from the following link:

All stephanie b. walls, floors and ground covers included in houses downloaded from MTS2 can be used in lot creations on any free or pay site as long as I receive credit for the textures. Please do not post my textures (walls, floors or groundcovers) or lots on other sites without my permission or reupload them as your own by giving them color face-lifts without giving me credit for the original design. Thank you!

These lots are creations from my imagination based mainly on excerpts from the books and on-line information. I am basing very little on the movie versions of each place, so don't expect exact replica's of movie versions of the various places in the Magic and Muggle World.

My vision for this neighborhood is that the students do not "live" in Hogwarts. I see the school as home to only a few teachers (Dumbledore, McGonagall, Trelawney). Everyone else is spread out in either their family homes or in the Summer Houses.

This set includes both residential and commercial lots. There are a total of 25 download pages (with 34 individual files to download) in this collection. Be sure to download the entire Harry Potter Collection of lots here at Mod the Sims 2:

Enjoy the cottage!

Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

Oh my God! Stephanie, this lot goes above and beyond anything I could have dreamed of! You are so talented, and all the little details of this just make me want to squee with glee. <3
The intricate shell-lined walls, the lighthouse and the row boat, the perfectly furnished rooms, the beautiful garden with Dobby's grave that just makes me want to cry all over again...

See that little star that says "Picked Upload?" Yeah, you completely and utterly deserve that. This lot is just too perfect. Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

P.S. You mentioned earlier that it was a pain trying to get the landscaping right the first time around. Well, you nailed it to a tee this time! :]

Wow, StephSim! This is beautiful. You surely deserve the Picked Upload honor for this one.

And thanks again for including my contributions to the community in your work!

I LOVE this lot! Is there any way you can make the house like a regular house without the lighthouse and on a smaller lot?

Thanks for noticing my lot in such a way. I appreciate the recognition.
Thanks for your sincere comments. I KNOW you mean it! I mentioned the landscape to you before because I couldn't find white stones to line the garden and when I did the owner did not respond to my, I created floor tiles. The grave actually came out a lot better than I thought it would. You should see all the discarded samples I created! Then, there were the flowers. I used Macarossi's flowers but did not get a response about including them in uploads until AFTER I posted the house! (There will be other houses to use her flowers in.) I did find other flowers to use by bienchen83 and trees by Numenor to use as well. Thanks to all the object makers who allow their objects to be included in lots! :D
Coastal Cutie: I will do that. I will post it by next Tuesday! The garden will look a little different (as I love creating romantic looking gardens), I will remove the burial mound, I will remove the lighthouse(??REALLY??) and I will place it on a smaller lot.
Lara - Thanks for your positive comments! I'm glad you enjoy the lot!

Beautiful, be justly proud of this wonderful creation!

You're lying to Sam like he's your wife. Which kinda makes me your mistress.

Thanks! I appreciate that becuase I know that if I tried to remake it myself it wouldnt be as good. lol. What I'm really wondering is how you got the white parts on the front of the house and by the back door... the white thing with holes (its name escapes me). I've seen houses with those and ones with the color like the porch thats brown but I cant figure out how they made them.

Coastal Cutie:
Click on the name Reyn above (under Custom Items Included). There is a complete set of "lattice" downloads that come in wood (2 shades of brown, white and black wood). It's called the Silversong Porch Build Set.

This is an absolutely lovely house -once I have some free time to actually play with my Hogwarts families, I'll definitely need to start picking up more than the school itself.

Congrats on your picked upload!
I love this one, you made an excellent job, taking your time to do all the shell walls and everything! It's just as I imagined it from the DH!

Keep on doing such wonderful things!

Thanks for the compliment. Using your lattice set helped to give this cottage that "certain something" that it needed to be beautiful! Thank YOU for sharing your items!
You are quite welcomed! The shell walls would have been torture IF I didn't find a sample already in a white background. I traced out a few of the shells so the wallpaper would not repeat itself and spread them out over the design to help make the wallpaper seamless. You would laugh because I WAITED to paint the house until last. Then, I was EXCITED to see it all "shelled" up. (Yes, I am somewhat psychotic at times - Definitely flawed!) Take care!

You really deserved the feature on this, it makes a great cottage whether you like Harry Potter or not.

Thanks Claire. I REALLY appreciate the compliment! :D

You have hit on something interesting.

You said..."whether you like Harry Potter or not"

You know, people so easily compartmentalize things by putting them into categories (to make sense of the world I guess). Interestingly, you miss out on many great things when you do that. For instance, I don't design 1 style of lots, I LOVE creating variety as it expands my learning about architecture and design concepts. I love playing around in all kinds of lots. I guess most people stick to what they know and download only certain styles or kinds of lots. Me personally, I look at each lot for what it is and not the theme or style it represents! I think people miss out on great lots when they ignore the lot because of it's title or theme!

Hi! Actually, I don't make Sims...but, there are a few really great Harry Potter characters for the Sims 2 (some on this site). Sorry I don't have links, but perhaps you could ask in the groups here on MTS where to find the best HP Sims. Also do a search here on MTS for Harry Potter and it will bring up everything form more buildings, to clothing to Sims. Hope this helps!

Aw darn, this is cool and all, but I was hoping it would be a beach lot, since Shell Cottage is on the ocean and all...

Glad you like and sorry it isn't quite what you wanted.

When I created Shell Beach, beach lots did not have the best reputation and I wasn't an experienced "beach" lot creator back then. I guess this would indeed be a great candidate for being placed on a beach. But, sadly not something I will take on as my RL plate is full at the moment.

Regardless, maybe you can still enjoy the lot. It's coolness is not limited by what it "isn't", but exist in finding value in what it "is"!
