Never noticed the scalpel before, mostly because my sims aren't the diary writer types, but thanks for the fix.

Thank you!! Thank you so much! I was wondering if there was a way to fix that - I take pics of them writing for stories sometimes, so this REALLY got on my nerves, cheers! :D

never noticed the scalpel thing, thanks for pointing it out. Perhaps they were writing in blood? If so why didn't my sims pass out? Oh well, doesn't matter now...any way thanks again.

This not only bugged me, but it bugged me that it bugged me! I felt like I was getting a little too detail-orientated, and too in-control of my Sims world. Now, I don't have to feel like that (well, with this little problem, anyway) again!

Wow! Never noticed that before. Also: The diary-writing Sim in your pictures is left-handed. Are they all left-handed? I never noticed that before either! Now I'm curious.

All sims write in the diary left handed, but do their homework right handed.

I guess all sims are lefties by nature, but "forced" to switch in school.

Yay! You are my new hero. That's driven me mad the whole time I've had the sims...

Never noticed that they were left handed, though. Awww. Cute ikkle leftie sims...

Oddly enough, I also wondered if they were writing in blood... Nice to know I'm not the only morbid one...

Error aside, maybe they wanted it to be a nice shiny fountain pen, but then got bored and just bunged the knife in instead, and hoped no one would notice? :P

DUpheal, from the looks of the code that I had to alter it seems the pen may have been cloned from the scalpel which may be why this error happened in the first place: MAXIS got lazy and didn't bother to check if they entered the right number.

I think Sims must all be ambidextrose (spelling?) cos I know they do other stuff right-handed.

*wonders if there's any deeper significance in them going for the knife before the pen*

Darnit, now I KNOW next time I play I'm going to be keeping a close eye on what hand my sims use for different things...

Yeah, the scalpel thing has always bugged me too. I mean, if sims can use a pen doing their homework, why is it any different when they write in their diary? Thanks for fixing this!

Thanks, but why were there two pens? I mean, at school, I use the same pen for EVEYTHING. Well, until it dies, anyway.

There aren't two pens. This is the same pen as the one Sims use for homework or the newspaper crossword. The thing it replaces is a surgical knife that Sims should only use for the medical career reward. Due to bad coding though they used it for the diary as well.

What makes me laugh is how they use a pen for homework, yet rub out mistakes with an invisible eraser that normally sits on the tip of a pencil! Oh well. Yeah, I've noticed the lefty thing too - when I first saw it I thought my sim was left-handed (like me! :D), until I saw him doing his homework. Weird... okay, I'm ambi too, but I still write with my left, no matter what it is

Thank you for this fix - I never noticed it either - but, if I had noticed, it would have bothered me as well.
