Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
Requires NL, OfB, and Seasons.
Custom content: frillen's Invisible Driveway is included as a separate file -- put in your Downloads folder before playing this lot. Also, stairs by crocobaura included; see the stairs thread for instructions on how to install them. This lot will work fine if you don't, you only won't be able to use them in other lots since they won't show up in the catalogue (which is what the installation procedure is for).

For sims that are sick of living in the suburbs, Backdoor Lane provides an alternative: a couple of small town lots with a more urban look and feel. They fit together like a jigsaw puzzle, creating a maze of backyard gardens and interconnected alleyways when placed in a tightly spaced neigbourhood. Most of them work as corner lots as well as facing the street, creating a very different impression depending on how you place them and what's on the lot next door.

Backdoor Lane 53:
City house with small garden and balcony on a 1x3 lot, furnished for 1-2 sims with three spare (bed)rooms. Kitchen/dining, bathroom and a study corner on the ground floor, two unfurnished rooms and living area upstairs, two bedrooms and another bathroom on the top floor. Two driveways in the backyard, cars included.

1 x double bedroom
3 x single bedroom (empty)
3 x bathroom
1 x kitchen/dining/living
1 x living room

All basics included, with a stove, dresser, and espresso machine on top. The space to the left and right of the house is blocked on purpose, to avoid sims getting stuck in there (it's only one tile wide, not two, since the lot is shrunk) -- but this is just a precaution, I haven't had any sims actually getting stuck in my own game.

This lot has been shrunk with LotAdjuster See here for more information:

Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

First, thank you for continuing with the Backdoor Lane series. In the interests of maintaining a complete collection, did I miss Backdoor Lane 52? Is 51A = 52? Should I just stop obsessing over the number 52?

52 isn't up yet -- no worries, I'll upload it eventually!

I like this series as well. The compactness and playability of these lots is very cool.

All right, another!

Hands down, your houses (Backdoor Lane, Bay Tree, Newbie Road series) are the best lots I've ever played. First of all, they look great. Realistic, sensible, well-designed and with a lot of character. Beautiful individually, but the effect of seeing them crowded together on the neighborhood screen shouldn't be missed.

The layout is perfect. Compact, but every inch used to the fullest. The starter homes especially give you a lot of bang for your buck.

I love how minimal you are with extra CC. I can download your lots knowing that I won't be cluttering my downloads folder with stuff I'll forget about immediately, and anything they do come with is premium quality.

They are very playable. I can even play your basements without problems, and I never like playing basements because they are such pains to see into.

For the first time, it feels like my sims have yards, too. I think it's a combination of the value of the extra space in a small lot, the sectioning off with fencing or architecture, and the minimal but lovely and realistic decorations. In any case, when playing lots other than yours, things tend to break down into the two categories of either inside or outside, but with your lots, there is a definite front yard and back yard.

I could never make houses like these, so I am only too happy to have so many to download. I mean, even the stairs, I don't know how you make them so unobtrusive and out of the way! I could go on, so I'll stop there. Awesome work.

You are truly an amazing lot builder! I've noticed more lots are appearing up with the help of your tutorials, or with credits to your lots/inspiration in the posts. Amazing job on all your homes, thanks for such marvelous places for our simmies to live!

I recently played again your flower home business (don't know which name it has) and I thought, that playing without your fantastic lots has not that fun factor playing sims that it has with your lots.
They look so realistic and everything is on it's right place. They are simply perfect.

First of all thank you for another great lot. I have been a fan of yours since you started the series, and only see improvements as it evolves.
Thinking about the new expansion, Apartment Life, I hope it will be possible to play those lots with multiple apartments [like no.30 or no.37] as they were originally intended. I guess we will have to wait and see how it works.
