Buyable Rock Spawners (Gem, Metal [Ore], and Meteor)

Now your sims can collect rocks at home!

Simply go into Build mode and find all the Gem, Metal (Ore), and Meteor spawners under the 'Rocks' category (there is no miscellaneous category, so I simply chose rocks.) And place them wherever you like.

When these are placed, they are placed underground. So if after placing a spawner, you decide you no longer want it, you can dig a deep pond underneath it, then move your pointer around until you find it. Then you can move/delete it. But they are still invisible, so you'll have to remember where you placed them.

The gem spawner titles are a little vague. They are simply labeled "low", "medium", "high" and "epic".

For a list of gem rarities, click here.

For a list of metal (ore) and meteor rarities, click here.

They are free to place.

They do NOT replace any original content, I simply created a clone of each spawner and enabled them in build mode under the rocks category.

The spawners run on a timer, so once placed it may take a few sim days for them to show up. The timer seems to reset after collecting them.

I've tested these and found no problems, but if you find something I haven't, please let me know.

Thanks to Srikandi for ideas, testing, carifications, etc.

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.

For Package files:

1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

For Sims3Pack files:

1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.

the plutonium spawners is spawning palladium and the huge meteor spawners are only spawning large meteors. or are these things really rare and not allowed to spawn until you get to a certain point in collecting?

but other than that thank you!

Awesome I just made a sim that I want to collect all the gems at least this way it won't be a hard to get a Pink Diamond. In all my expeditions I've only found one.

If you want to tune the behavior of these spawners, btw, they're controlled by XML. You can use Morgade's mod generator to make each one behave as you'd like ( http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=353622 )

I have picked up 300-400 gems spawned by these, but only found ONE pink diamond. It was spawned by the epic one. I have placed lots of each type of spawner, at least 10-20 of each.

If you mean they aren't showing at all (under build mode in the rocks category) then try deleting your cache files, that helped someone get access to my fish spawners.

If you mean you can place the spawner, but don't see any rocks/gems/metals, you need to wait a while before they start showing up.

Can these be used on community lots, and do they show up with the Collection Helper?

Okay, I've waited several sim days, and not a single rock, bug, butterfly, nor seed spawned. ......answered bit.......

Yeah, me too. I placed those, including the other ones-bugs and seeds, and they did not appear at all. I placed those on the floors, and there are no actual items appearing. They are just empty like invisible items.

chimp78 - The spawners ARE empty/invisilbe items. They're just a blank square, but they should start spawning items a sim day or so later.

Gillianivy - I'm not sure what's wrong, they're working just fine here and for others. Perhaps try deleting your cache files? Or maybe you already have too many spawned rocks/butterflies/seeds around town, I think there may be a set cap defined in the XML files.

witchzenka - yes and yes

If anyone wants to know, i have tested the epic gem spawner a bit more and found out that it seems to spawn only rubys, tanzanite, diamonds and pink diamonds.

It seems to spawn about 20% each of rubys, tanzanite, and pink diamonds, and 40% diamonds, but i have found only 40 gems from epic so it's not sure.

My game starts hanging if ive placed too many of them, and its only with gem spawners, the butterfly and bug ones work fine. I want to remove them from my lot, because i spen a lot of time building it and have no wish rebuilding it. But the dig a hole remove them does not work. They are invisible and unselectable, and i know exactly where i placed them.... any suggestions?
