Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
For those who don't have Mansion & Garden Stuff, I rebuilt both houses without it - they are in the comments.
Although the Paris and New York looks are based on pictures of real apartments (see below), I didn’t have any actual floor plans. Hope I didn’t make too many obvious mistakes trying to replicate the real ones without complete floor plans.
There are four livable floors (and also some free space on roof floor for the New York version); on the first floor is a restaurant for Paris version and a shop for New York version. Three other floors are occupied by apartments. Apartments are pretty small; they are made for 4 sims to live in the first one, 3 sims in the second and 2 sims in the third. Each apartment has an open kitchen/ dining/ living area, a toilet, a bathroom, a master bedroom and one more room, which can be another bedroom or study. I couldn’t manage to find a good place for a desk in each apartment, but instead of it sims can use the dining table (for example to do homework or to place a computer – wonderful laptop for this purpose here).

Lot Title: City Apartments – Paris / New York
Lot Size: 1x2
Lot Type: Apartments
Rent Price: 1,566 – 1,766 (Paris); 1,406 (New York)
Lot Played/ Tested: Yes*
Furnished: Yes, how to rent furnished –
*CTRL-SHIFT-C to bring up the cheat box.
*Enter the following cheat: boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true
*Walk your sim to the front door of the apartment that you want to rent. They need to be standing right in front of the door.
*Clear any actions from your sim's queue - including other sims trying to talk to them.
*SHIFT-click on the door of the apartment you wish to rent and choose "Rent Furnished."
*If the action falls out of your queue, your sim probably needs to be closer to the door.
*Once the apartment is rented, bring up the cheat box again.
*Enter: boolProp testingCheatsEnabled false to turn the cheat off again.
Compatibility: Requires ALL EPs (up to and including Apartment Life) and Garden & Mansion Stuff. No other stuff packs were installed while building this lot so they are not required. (Actually at the beginning I wanted to make this lot also with minimal EPs but, well, I didn’t succeed. At least I didn’t have to use a lot of custom content.)

Master files, diagonals for curtains, windows and doors – for all are the same credits as below - and 3 Maxis recolours by me for the Paris version are included in the rar archives. Place them in your Downloads folder before installing a lot.

P.S. Shop in the first floor of New York version requires mod for the shop assistants to be spawn but sims can make coffee and try on clothes in the shop and objects in the room in front of the shop are usable also without the mod. Restaurant in the Paris version works fine (except there is no bartender at the bar) without the mod. Apartments and Shopping Mod by MogHughson

*Report if something is wrong because I did tested carefully but I think I’m still not completely advanced with apartments and mods.

If you like my lot, please hit the thanks button.

Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

These are beautiful! I've been trying to give my sims a more urban place to live, and these are the best big city apartment buildings I've ever seen.

These are gorgeous too bad I don't have M&G.

Oh and did the chain-link fence come with that stuff pack or is it CC? Just curious.

Firstly, thank you for your comments!
Secondly, maybe I could make these two without M&G and add the files here? I just love the plants from that pack but I could remake these just removing M&G objects.
And xemptybrkneyesx - the fence is in custom content list, it's here.

Thanks so much

I wouldn't want you to go through any trouble, but your apartments are wonderfully made. I'm seriously lacking as far as apartment building goes, and have been looking for a nice building or two to add to my neighborhoods, and yours are just gorgeous.

WOW I really love your wonderful apartments, especially the Paris one. I have a question: How do you build your lot over the land boundary of 2 caskets? With some cheat or is there any trick?

Thanks for your help

I used LotAdjuster by Mootilda (it's written in Additional Credits) - here is a good tutorial how to do that.

Oh, and about The Sims 3 - I played them at my friends house and I think playing with sims is very improved but building is horrible, with little possibilities for me. So I think I'm not going to get The Sims 3 at all because usually I only build. Thank you for your comment!

I completely rebuilt both houses without Mansion & Garden Stuff today - I put them here in the comments. There aren't too many differences, I think.
Download - please read all instructions before downloading any files!

Thanks so much

I love these, and can't wait to play them.
Glad to see other people don't have M&G and love them enough to download, so I hope I didn't make you go out of your way for nothing.

wow, your new york lot looks so similar to a lot found on my site. it's probably because of the exact same laundry "hanging" from the exact same fire escape. i guess i should be flattered.

Yes, I really found the laundry and the fire escape stairs through your site (I googled images and found those great urban house pictures and link to your site here at MTS) Thank you about that very very much, they were perfect. I also was completely stunned by all of your houses on your site. Thank you again, I would never find these two wonderful custom content by myself Also you are from NY and I wanted to make this lot as authentic as I could, hope it's OK Maybe I could add you to the 'additional credits'?

some acknowledgement that your house was based on one of my lots, (as well as the RL pic) would have been nice. our site is small and not as well known as MTS. i wouldn't want someone to come across my houses and think i was copying from you.

#24 Old 8th Aug 2009 at 4:37 AM
Personally, I don't see them as close copies..
I just think you did such a great job creating one based on a real life apartment building that hers looks similar because she based hers on a similar, real life, building style.
Just my two cents.

she copied elements of my house, admitted it, and has added the acknowledgment in the main post (thanks may). so i'm not sure why your "two cents" was even necessary. my point to may is that i put a lot of work into my lots and take pride in being original. i don't want anyone to come to my site and think that i'm uploading copies of other people's work. simple as that.
