GWRYCH MARCH SET FOUR: 6 COMMUNITY LOTS

General Gwrych March Notes:
Welcome BACK to Gwrych! There are 27 lots divided between 4 Posts. Post 1 has 6 Residential Lots. Post 2 has 6 Residential Cottages (13 downloads). Post 3 has 2 Hotel Lots. Post 4 has 6 Community Lots. The lots in this collection are mainly EDITED versions of lots from the "A Small Kingdom" collection. They have been revised with MEDIEVAL decor using ALL EPs and STUFF PACKS as well as User Created Custom Content. Also, I've included several alternative versions of stoves, trash cans, dishwashers, trash compactors and sewing machines in these lots. Each FURNISHED residential lot in this collection has an invisible smoke alarm and I've hidden the burglar alarm behind furniture or inside barrels. So, please be sure to play test your lots to discover where everything is and what everything does. Each lot should contain all your Sims need to live!

While the Gwrych Kingdom and Duchy lots were moreso designed for the upper nobility, the Gwrych March and Barony are designed for the lower nobility and the lower classes. The buildings will be a bit more worn and fitting to the lower classes. Even within the hovel community, there is a ranking system for the houses.

There is no "separate" objects download zip for the Gwrych "March" Collection (as I included in the original Gwrych post of 45 lots). All objects are included in the lots. The zip folders also contain Maxis/EA recolors that do not automatically zip with the lots. Be sure to include add these objects to your Downloads folder. I also encourage allowing the objects you download in this collection to override older versions of the objects shared in the original Gwrych post (45 lots), as some of the objects used have been updated.

The lots in the Gwrych March were designed for my "GWRYCH NEIGHBORHOOD MAP 4" found in Post 2 HERE. Of course you are free to use another Neighborhood Map, but keep in mind that the Beach Lots (in the upcoming Barony set shares this map) may not show properly in neighborhoods they were not designed for. Please keep this in mind. See the following image to set-up you Gwrych March Neighborhood.
GWRYCH MARCH SET-UP IMAGE

NOTE: The above image is also in the last zip of each set in this collection for your convenience.

Lastly...for those of you who cannot download this collection for one reason or another, please understand that these lots are also represented in the "A SMALL MODERN KINGDOM" collection found HERE. However, "A Small Kingdom" lots are decorated using Maxis/EA only furnishings and objects, therefore it is moreso a "Modern Meets Medieval" collection.

Please enjoy the downloads and happy Simming!

March Hovel Harvest Field 1 (COMMUNITY LOT)

LOT INFORMATION

Lot Size: 3 x 1
Lot Cost: 0 Simoleons (Community Lot)
Total Toilets: 2 (with 2 Showers)

Lot Description:
This lot is the 1st of 2 Planting and Harvesting Fields meant to compliment the March Hovel lots. Activities include skill building "ploughing"*, planting, painting, barbecue camping, ax throwing, pottery making, chess playing and hanging out with your Sim friends.

- IMPORTANT Note
There is an invisible video game console with interactions for ploughing that give your Sims mechanical and/or physical points thanks to Sophie-David with permission to use of the Invisible Mail Console originally created by Jason Duskey. Simply click around the left handle of the plough and allow your Simmies to have a bit of practical FUN while on the lot.

In order to actually GAIN skill points while using the console on a community lot, I highly recommend using Pescado's Community Lot Skilling and Enthusiasm hack found HERE. Using this hack will allow your Simmies to gain skill and enthusiasm points with any/all Maxis/EA related tasks from chess to reading, etc.

March Hovel Harvest Field 2 (COMMUNITY LOT)

LOT INFORMATION

Lot Size: 3 x 1
Lot Cost: 0 Simoleons (Community Lot)
Total Toilets: 2 (with 2 Showers)

Lot Description:
This lot is the 2nd of 2 Planting and Harvesting Fields meant to compliment the March Hovel lots. Activities include skill building "ploughing"*, planting, painting, barbecue camping, ax throwing, chess playing and hanging out with your Sim friends.

March Church and Gift Shop (COMMUNITY LOT)

LOT INFORMATION
Lot Size: 3 x 3
Lot Cost: 0 Simoleons (Community Lot)
Total Toilets: 4 (with 1 shower)

Lot Description:
This lot is meant to compliment the March Parson's Cottage. It includes a Church with a small lounge and Parson's private office and a small Charity Shop. Activities include reading, crystal ball computers, buffet, barbecue, a shower and shopping.

____________________________

March Bathhouse (COMMUNITY LOT)

LOT INFORMATION:

Lot Size: 3 x 1
Lot Cost: 0 Simoleons (Community Lot)
Total Toilets: 3

Lot Description:
This lot should be placed near the Parson's and the March Church lots. Apparently, the local Parson decided it would be wasteful not to use the remaining Church bricks in a constructive manner. So, he had a local Bathhouse built. While one might question his reason for building the Bathhouse, no one can question the "spiritual" idea that "Cleanliness is next to Godliness". This lot has a small kitchen (restaurant) with outdoor seating, a barbecue campfire and a bathing house with 3 private tubs. Other activities include shopping (books/magazines), chess playing, painting, television, massages and reading.

____________________________

March Shops - Restaurant, Tavern, Book Store, Tailor's Shop (COMMUNITY LOT)

LOT INFORMATION
Lot Size: 3 x 2
Lot Cost: 0 Simoleons (Community Lot)
Total Toilets: 5

Lot Description:
This lot includes a Tavern (with a Restaurant), a Book Store and a Fabric Store. There is a gallows in the center of the shopping village to deter petty theft. Activities include reading, grocery shopping, clothing shopping, book shopping, reading, eating at a restaurant, drinking at the pub, Fortune Telling (computers), Crystal Ball television (in the Used Books section/Upper Floor of Book Store), planting, card playing, darts, painting, sewing and pottery.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
* - NECESSARY DOWNLOADS
To keep this lot within size constraints I removed the 2 largest objects from the Downloads folder before zipping. Therefore you MUST download Targa's Ascension Version 2 - One tile teleporting stairs found HERE and Pherver's Keg found HERE if you wish for these objects to show properly in your lot.

* There is an invisible sewing table on the second floor of the Clothing Shop in the Lady's Department. Simply click on the table with the sewing paraphenalia to activate the sewing machine.

SUGGESTED Complimentary Downloads: (Things I thought of adding after the above lot was completed!)
The following items (which I have used in The Gwrych Prison lot) are highly recommended to add a bit of medieval flair to the marketplace atmosphere.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
* - 4 NECESSARY DOWNLOADS
http://www.personal-computer-tutor.com/sims2/sets.htm
The Blacksmith/Forge items were removed from the Downloads folder prior to zipping because the creators do not allow their objects to be packaged in lots. I also removed the two largest objects by other creators so the lot would not exceed upload limits. You will also need to grab The Makin' Magic Wine Bar by Fresh-Prince and the Haystack Bed (Haystack.zip) by -Maylin- as well. Otherwise, these 4 items will be replaced with regular Maxis/EA objects when if you enter the lot. Links below.
* CLICK HERE to download Phaenoh's Blacksmith Crafting Station .
* CLICK HERE to download Buntah's Blacksmith Set found HERE.
* CLICK HERE to download Fresh-Prince's Makin' Magic Wine Bar.
* CLICK HERE to download -Maylin-'s Haystack Bed (Haystack.zip) .

KITCHEN SINK CLUTTER DRAMA
Please read this if you are having problems AFTER entering a lot or are receiving an error message about "counters without doors". Otherwise, view this as general information about Gwrych lots.

Apparently, you CANNOT use "move objects on" to place objects on the back of a counter where there is a kitchen sink. In some of my Gwrych lots, I found an error with placing sponges in the back corner of counters that have kitchen sinks. Initially, I thought it was that sponges could not be placed on counters where there is a kitchen sink, but have since discovered that no objects should share the counter tile when there is a sink in the counter. If you have found you were receiving a counter error when entering a Gwrych lot with a Sim...there may be objects sharing kitchen sink counter space (like the hour glass, sponge, plant or jars) that I overlooked in the process of fixing this problem. Please understand that this may NOT be the issue if your game is constantly crashing. It is just one possible solution I offer. Testing the Gwrych lots on different computers has resulted in ALL Gwrych lots being playable from this end. As errors are encountered during game play, solutions are also sought. If you are only having problems with a few lots, this may (or may not) be part of the problem. To fix this problem, all you need to do is to load a new version of the lot, enter it WITHOUT A SIM and delete any objects that are sharing a counter with a kitchen sink. Also, if you notice there seems to be no sink in an area where there should be one (especially bathrooms and kitchens)...try adding a sink to the empty counters. If you cannot place a sink on a counter, that counter should be deleted and put back in the game before adding a sink. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Remember, enter the lot WITHOUT a Sim to make changes.

Adding clutter to the back slots of counters that do not have a kitchen sink appear to work just fine. So clutter away on counters without sinks!

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

Oh Steph! I'm so excited by all your wonderful pictures. The lots look great and so incredibly detailed. You have truly embraced the medieval era with your works and brought together all the amazing custom content perfectly. I dare the new medieval game to come close, but after what I've been reading it won't be nearly as fun as what this community has created with Sims2 since there won't be 'free play'. Thanks so much for contributing to a unique world. I definitely will be using and appreciating these lots!

I appreciate your kind words. Yeah...Look out Maxis/EA "Sims Medieval" Stand Alone! Although, I would like to have the Medieval Game for "role playing and going on quests" for my Laptop! As I only use Sims 2 on my PC, when I'm lounging about or having lazy days in bed...Sims Medieval may prove to be fun. We shall see next birthday!

Have fun with the lots!

"Talented"...Who me? I'll own that! Thanks again.

Sorry about that. But this set was created for those who are playing the TOTAL MAXIS/EA and user objects experience. This has been a vision of mine for a long while and now I'm getting it done. Nonetheless, thanks for the compliment!

Glad to be of service! Yeah. I find it far more difficult to redecorate a previously decorated lot than to simply build a new one! Then prepping from uploading is enough to make one's head spin...but there is great satisfaction once the uploading is done. People who knock CC really don't get that it must be a labour of love to actually build, design and upload using CC. It's a ton of work...but for this project...it's a necessity! Do enjoy the "decorated" lots!

Right i'm leaving a comment on this one because i have just been through all the 4 sets of lots you just uploaded, and i have spent sufficient time gorking at your absoloutely stunning work and i need to tell you how awesome you are !

Every time you create something it always amazes me how much effort and time you spend on every single lot, you are just so dedicated to building to perfect, and it's truly inspiring! I have really looked closely at all of these 4 sets and they're just perfect, you are so gifted at building, and i think you've really found your style with this project, because this is some of my favourite work of yours. You are so very clever with all the tools in game, and it's clear you have a great imagination to bring these lots to life!

I hope you never stop creating because it would be such a loss for the community! Have you used Sims 3 yet, and building with it, because i would be really interested (as i am sure many others would be) in what you manage to come up with, if it's even a fraction as amazing as your sims 2 work, it will be fantastic!

I hope all is well, and thank you for all your hard work and passion,
DD

Thanks DD. I appreciate your kind words.

About Los Sims 3...I have too much invested in Sims 2 right now. I want my $ worth! Basically, I want to create ideal communities and play in them for a while. Maybe by then, Sims 3 will be at it's end and I will get everything at once! In the now, I just don't have any interest in The Sims 3. There is still much playing to be done in the Sims 2 for me!

I LOVE this! I haven't played the Sims in awhile, but when I saw this I had to have it and now I can't wait to start playing again. EA should be paying you, I mean I just know their version of Sims Medieval is going to be TOTALLY lame. Keep up the good work. XD

Thanks MyOtherHorseIsAUnicorn!

Yeah, this project is breathing new life into The Sims 2 for many. I think if we had several "complete" Sim worlds to exist in, the game will continuously have new life! Not to say that people haven't been creating for themes...but it's been moreso done with a lot here, clothing there, etc. (Outside of The Dark Project and a MidSimmer Night's Dream.

I guess that is why I am excited about this theme, because there are others like me who are "obsessively" working (like Almighty Hat and sunni9676, etc.) to make it a complete "Medieval" experience. I want to build several worlds in this way (Victorian, Sci-Fi, Star Trek, Fantasy, Kid Fantasy, Modern, Italian Renaissance, etc.). That way, when I get totally spent playing in the medieval neighborhood, I can just switch to Sci-fi or Fantasy or Modern. So many ideas...but I shall complete Medieval Gwrych first and then move to modern Simtopia!

Thanks again and enjoy the downloads.

<< Omg if you do Sci-fi and Star Trek you just might have a stalker in me XD. Anyway, I love what you have done. I get you completely I really do. I have much more fun when I can create a full submersive experience into a sim world created with every cc, hack and mod all working together in it. I really look forward to your downloads in the future.

I also agree with many of you about Sims 3. I can't get into it yet because I am still having so much fun with Sims 2. Oh and I will definately check out your Simtopia neighborhood. << I can't resist a place named after my name sake n_n. Thanks again StepSim for continuing your creative inspiration in the sims community.

Thanks simtopia!

Yeah...I have many Sci-fi and Star Trek visions in my head!

My obsession with complete hoods began with the whole Harry Potter experience and now I find myself in that mindset all the time. You see when The Sims 1 began to die, things were left undone and people moved on. I'm all for moving on to the Sims 3 but The Sims 2 still has so much to offer. With Maxis not cranking out more Sims 2 stuff, it makes it easier to take what is and make it better without having to upgrade it. To me this is the times for Sims 2 creators to make all those things they wanted to create and a few things that no one has thought of yet. I know the world is so disposable now, but it is also a world where you can actually play Sims 1, Sims 2 and Sims 3 without having to sacrifice one for the other.

About Simtopia...I gigged when I saw your name because it reminded me what is waiting for me when Gwrych is complete! I stopped working on Simtopia to complete Gwrych because I realized that I wanted closure with Gwrych and after deciding to turn 3 lots into a massive Kingdom, I knew that Gwrych would be a much more involved task as it would require much Custom Content and a lot of alternative uses for objects. So...returning to Simtopia will be a great change of pace starting next year!

I'm rambling. Do enjoy your perusal of the few Simtopia lots I've completed already. I started with the community lots because they are most lacking, but I will end with residential lots eventually. Again thanks for your kind words.

These are so amazing, I'm just blown away! Just what I need, because I have a medieval hood but I'm just not good at designing community lots - I just chuck in the necessary stuff but it never looks very good. These are so beautiful and they are realistic, too. I'm so looking forward to having them in the game! thanks so much!

Thank you.

You are most welcomed! Unfortunately, I really wish that all current lot builders would stop building houses for a while and start building community lots so there will be a larger variety for all Sim themes (base game, modern, medieval, victorian, sci-fi, etc.). Nonetheless... Have fun exploring the lots.

After seeing Harry Potter 7 I was once again inspired to have a Potter neighborhood and these lots (the entire set) are just fantastic for it! Thank you so much. I have used several of your lots and they all work so problem free. I am very grateful that you still create for sims 2 for I will always be a fan!

Thanks Augiedoggy!

I really appreciate your feedback (not to mention the compliments)!

I'm glad to see people continuing on with Sims 2!

As for Harry Potter...planning to see DH1 this week...Last week the snow prevented it. And let's not get into it about my HP lots. Most of them I like, but my design style has changed a bit over the years and I'm much more knowledgable about building now. I really want to revamp the set (especially Hogwarts). When I created the lots, certain EPs were not out yet and it can really change the landscape of the HP collection. But...for now, I'm glad things are still enjoyable for other Simmers. Do enjoy the Gwrych / Harry Potter combo! I wonder if the "A Small MODERN Kingdom" lots would be helpful as well. With a bit of medieval decor intermixed with the modern, I think it would also be great for a Harry Potter neighborhood as well.
