Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
I am a shameless wood flooring junkie. I love my real life wood floors, and I love to give my Sims wood floors. And I really like the grain patterns and such that some of the Maxis wood floors have, but I find myself often disliking the colors that Maxis created. Or, in some cases, I like the color just fine but simply want more of them.

Hence, recolors. I developed a palette of 20 colors that I personally like, given my preference for muted earthy tones, and then I went ahead and applied those colors to each of 5 Maxis wood floors that I like, thus eliminating the Icky Color Problem and/or the Lack of Color Options Problem. And now I offer all 100 floors to y'all. Because I can.

I have recolored the following floors, all Maxis:
Limber Timber Deck Flooring
Oaken Floor
Slimming Oak Parquet
Smitty's Distressed Floorboards
Walk the Plank Flooring

I did make some minor edits to some of the original Maxis textures, emphasizing the grain in some, de-emphasizing it in others, removing the dumb-looking (IMO) nail hole patches in the distressed floor, etc. It's nothing too drastic, though, and in one case I didn't change a blessed thing.

Here are all of the colors in the 20-color palette, with four of the palette's colors applied to each of the five different floors so that you can see the underlying textures. Of course, each of the five floors comes in all 20 colors shown, not just the 4 used as examples of that particular floor:

Here are some in-game shots that include a square of Maxis's original texture in the center, just for comparison's sake:

(Sample pics of the other two floors are attached below.)

Note that I have created desaturated "weathered" versions of the colors that I personally use most often, so that when I use these floors outdoors, I can create the illusion of "aging" the wood over time by changing out the saturated color for the desaturated one. I am slightly strange/obsessive that way. Of course, you don't have to do that; the "weathered" colors can stand on their own just fine if you like them by themselves. But just in case you're as strange as me...Well, there you are.

Each download includes a collection file, for your convenience.(The collection files go in your "Collections" folder, NOT your "Downloads" folder.) The individual package files within the rar files are clearly named so that you can get rid of the colors that you don't like/need. The packages are also compressed so that they are as small in file size as they can be.

PS: If you find yourself liking and using these floors, you might want to be on the lookout for a forthcoming download of matching fences, columns, and modular stairs, intended for porch/deck-making purposes and probably some matching windows/doors because, as I said, I am strange/obsessive. I hope to have the deck stuff ready soon. It's just that the fences are giving me livid fits...

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

Love them, they're great and the variety of colours is very nice. I sometimes stop and think, this isn't the right shade or the floor looks a bit off. That solved my issue! Thanks for sharing.

Sweet Jebus, that's a lot of floors! Very happy to have found them. I'm a wood floor junkie and generally like the Maxis textures, too, but the colours... *sigh*

Spoiled for choice now - thanks! ^_^

Wow... this is exactly what I wanted to do ages ago! Except, I wouldn't be able to make the enhancements. Great job, and thank you so much for sharing!!!

I usually don't buy stuff for building (especially not floors), I'm more of a CAS person...but I LOOOVE these floors. They're so beautiful! Thank you so much for creating!
(I'm going to be starting a country-themed legacy soon, so I thought wood floors would be a nice touch c: )

just wanted to say i also like to make my lots look lived-in, though i do it from the moment i move them in, so i'm using your weathered versions outside all over the place. i also put little dirt/sand terrain paint underneath the swing sets and such to make it look like children really play there...

thanks for helping me in my quirks.
