Kitchen Basic Cabinetry Recolors

This is a new mesh recolour, and means that you will need to download the particular mesh itself in order for this to show up in your game. See the Meshes Needed section or read the text for more information.
So I guess you could consider this the companion upload to this one over here: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=443346

And it only took me, what? Two years to make?

In any case, I love Buggybooz's Kitchen Basic Set. It's generally the only one I use, in fact. And since I'm about to embark on a building binge, I needed colors. In fact, I needed them so very desperately that I resorted to making these files on my netbook, even though it runs SimPE at the speed of a sloth on Quaaludes. So it took me like 8 hours to make 24 files, most of it spent waiting for the poor little computer to just do something already!

...And then after I went through all that, I unexpectedly acquired a desktop this past weekend which runs SimPE a whole lot better, like at the speed of a hummingbird on meth. It figures. But hey! It means better pictures for y'all, since I figured I might as well share these. So here's one of the colors, which happens to be Burnished Amber, on a couple of pieces of the Kitchen Basic set:

But you know, as I was making these, I decided that chrome hardware wasn't exactly the optimal color on some of these wood colors. So, I made a version with brassy hardware, too. Unfortunately, the hardware is not separately recolorable, so this means 24 files instead of 12, but for my purposes it was worth it. IMO, one hardware color or the other looks better on each of the wood colors, generally depending on whether the wood color is warm or cool, but I went ahead and made each color in both a chrome hardware and a brass hardware version, anyway. If you keep them all, you can decide which you like best. Here they all are:

These require you to have at the very least the master counter of the Kitchen Basic set. (But really? You want it all.) The mesh is not included, per Buggy's policy. Since other stuff (Like Buggy's Shakerlicious kitchen) is also slaved to that set, these files will recolor that stuff, too. I uploaded two zips, one with the chrome hardware version and one with the brass, so if you you don't want both you don't have to have 'em. The files are all Compressorized down to make cramming them into your Downloads folder a little easier/less painful. All of the files are clearly named so that you can more easily get rid of the colors you don't like/want/need, and for your reference I even tossed the three collage images above into each of the zips, too, thus bloating the file size even moar, mwahahaha!

Oh! One note. These don't have dirty states. Neither do the countertops in the older upload, for that matter. This is deliberate on my part, for a simple reason: If I see dirty counters, it's very hard for me not to send a Sim to clean it, and I really don't want to do that because I'd rather that be something they choose to do (or not do) for themselves. So, I don't like dirty states, and since I still create stuff mostly for me and my own strange purposes...there you are. If anyone wants to add dirty states to these, feel free to do so. But that's not on my own agenda, I'm afraid.

And there you have it, my dears!

P.S All the pictures on your other uploads taken on the netbook looked good to me.

Thanks for this and also your granite tops. I am going to get rid of a lot of kitchens I downloaded but don't really like. With all these lovely recolors I'll be using buggy's kitchen all the time.

Thanks for these, much needed for the shakerlicious set I use in my game. And another thanks for reminding me to get rid of a bunch of counters. I will happily be deleting more than 150 files from my game. Only gaining 12. Win for me.

Thanks for the comments, guys. Comments are what motivate me to share, so I really appreciate them. I'm glad to hear that these will be useful for others as well! And I didn't realize that my metaphors would be so amusing, but I'm glad to provide some giggles along with recolors. God knows the world could use more giggles.

@CatherineTCJD: Yep, Freddie Mercury cures all ills. Been a fan of his since Queen's first album in the early 70s, and I'm still in mourning for him, TBH. Probably will be for the rest of my life. Some of the songs still make me bawl like a baby, knowing the context of them, but I can't stop listening, anyway.

@Jo:: Well, I'm glad the pics on the other uploads look good to you! All I see is jagged edges and more jagged edges and they bug the heck outta me. The video card that came in this machine can smooth edges at least. Still contemplating what I want to get for an upgrade...

@cheshirekat: Yep, I used to have a ton of downloaded kitchens, and some of them were really nice, but having them all in the game was just overwhelming. Then I found this set, and I really haven't needed anything else except sometimes the Shakerlicious one and, very occasionally, a Maxis counter here and there....which I also need to recolor. I kept some of the downloaded ones because they'll be nice if I decide to do a "theme" lot, like a 50s diner or something, but they're all in an archive, not in my game.

I think a good half dozen sets of counters is a good number.

I already started deleting some maxis counter re-colors to make room for whatever you have coming soon. I especially look forward to your colors of the cheap counters. My poor peasants never have enough varieties in counters. Nobles are lucky, as I'm always finding loads of goodies for them.

The recolours and countertops looks lovely!! Would have loved to add them to my game, but Buggybooz seems to have taken the mesh down? Is it possible to beg for them through you...?

Hi there! Buggy has left the community, alas, but the meshes for the Kitchen Basic set (and everything else she's made) are still available at her blog, which is here: http://buggybooz.blogspot.com/
