This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below the description for more information.
This is a display shelf in two versions ‒ open and with glass doors ‒ that matches the Maxis Carina Dining Hutch. It is a bit wider than that so the shelves sit flush next to each other; up to six small deco items can be placed inside. I strongly recommend to use this in conjunction with my Clutter Anywhere mod since otherwise the game doesn’t offer a lot of shelvable deco stuff.

Update 2015-03-06: Reuploaded with three small changes:
  • Added some slots to the top
  • Changed the catalogue flags so they will be in Displays instead of Deco > Misc like the hutch
  • Changed the LITE on the open version so that the stuff in it will be lit by lights in the room (the screenshot below shows what this looks like; all of the other ones are of the old version).

I also made a mesh override for the original dining hutch that changes its size to fit these exactly; see the “dining-hutch-override” screenshot. Available over here.

Seven colour variants each (same as the dining hutch), available in Misc Deco Displays for 400§. Technically this references the dining hutch textures; it includes some overrides for that since the shadows underneath the dishes look rather exaggerated to me (and of course they are out of place when the shelves are empty).

Please note:

When you put items in the shelf with glass doors, you won’t be able to grab them anymore since those doors are in the way ‒ to get the objects out, simply move the entire shelf to your household inventory, that will separate the shelf from its content. See the “get-objects-out” screenshots. People with more patience can also try zooming in to just the right spot where the cabinet disappears but the deco is still visible, then one can also grab the deco. Thanks Miss Puff for the tip! =)

These are lovely! I just tried them out in-game and I noticed that the two darkest colors still have shadows on them where the old deco used to be. It's on both the closed and open versions, although it's harder to see on the closed ones. All of the Centurion displays have the same issue, but they're thinner shadows so it's not as noticeable. Although I am hoping that you might eventually make an open version of that one and add slots on top like you did with this one.

Oh, and it is possible to remove items from the closed displays after you place them. It's a bit tricky, but if you're careful you can zoom in to just the right spot so that you're close enough that the cabinet disappears, but the deco on the shelves is still visible, and then you can grab what you want and move/delete it.

Regarding the textures, It would certainly be nice if someone made an override without those shadows (I actually find them more noticeable on the light colours, not the dark ones, but YMMV) -- I personally don't mind them very much in practice since I use these displays to put stuff in, which will cover up the shadows anyway, but they're not exactly pretty (not on the original either).

Thanks for the tip re. zooming in to get the doco out! =) I was probably too impatient to fiddle with that.

I was in the middle of making something similar to this. But -alas! You've beat me to it! Thanks a lot for this tho, since, I'm a newbie so I've been having a hard time understanding how some things work. So, now I just put this in the game instead. But, do I have your permission to study this? Because I want to make a slot enabled shelf which has wide shelf space and no division in between.

Thankfully no-one needs anyone's permission to study other people's mods. =) If you want to re-use it, my stuff is NC-BY-SA, see profile.

Thank you. Are there any plans for a one tile version, without the glass doors?
