Yes. It will prevent the problem from happening. If you already have the problem, then it is a bit late, but still install it.

I'm downloading this, with thanks, Crammyboy.
I haven't experienced the problem, but from what I've read it is becoming more common, maybe because of all the downloads we're using (A wild guess, so don't you all shoot me!!).

This first started happening to me when I installed the "pay biils at box" hack. I removed it, but my mailbox still doesn't work... so I'm going to try this.

Thanks again Crammyboy!

My mailbox disappeared one time, couldnt figure out why. And my game slows down bigtime everytime another sim (walkby or npc) comes on the lot. Will this help that?

It may prevent the mailbox dissapearing. There may be other code out there deleting things.

Slowdowns are only really the game getting data for the sim to come on the lot. It is when you have no maid or such that yoy should check out the thread refered to in the first post

Who knew book reading could be so dangerous? :P

Maxis really ought to be more careful about how they Remove Objects.

Glad to see someone tracked down the cause of the problem which I was forced to solve
Thanks much.

This bug has nothing to do with downloaded stuff, but seems to happen more often on lots that have been played a long time -- it popped up a LOT with Legacy challenges since lots would be played over many generations.

Glad there's a fix for this, or at least the start of one!

Thank you thank you for looking into t his and creating this! I had given up on ever having nannies..gardeners..anything again b/c without fail I always ended up with them stuck on my lot. I've downloaded the other fix as well and hopefully this stupid problem will become a thing of the past.

Last night a fire began while one of my sims was cooking. The fire alarm went off but no fireman appeared. The game nearly froze it slowed so much. Plus the nanny just wouldn't leave. Is this a similar problem to the one this hack is supposed to fix? :dolt:

This is the one.
But if that has happened already. you have to install this and follow the link in the first post.

I didn't know the disappearing mailbox was related to the npc/slowdown bug. Thanks for this fix, the slowdown bug has been plaguing me for months!

Thank you SO much. I've had several lots bug up irreparably in the past. I really appreciate having a preventative fix now.

This is better than winning the lottery! LOL

Simple thanks is totally inadequate for your achievement. I think I will have to build a monument to you in each of my sim neighborhoods. Do you have any preferences as to what form it should take? Crammyboy Memorial Park? Crammyboy Library and Music Hall? Crammyboy Pleasure Palace? etc

I haven't had my mailbox disappear, but I had my garbage can disapper once. Is this related?
