This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below the description for more information.
Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
Hi People!

I loved winged Sims as much as the next guy, but something always bothered me about them. Most of the ones available are either flat as paper or move to artificially. So for a while now I've longed for some wings that would make me happy. Then one day a few weeks ago I had a brain storm! (Dangerous, I know!) I decided to go into the game files, steal the Parrot that came with the Pets EP, hack it's wings off and somehow attach them to a sim.

You can imagine my shock when it actually worked!?!?!

So without further ado, I bring you, SynapticSim's Wings Accessory!

WINGS FOR CHILDREN AVAILABLE HERE.

As you can see they come in 5 wonderful colors, including the base Parrot color that can open the door for many types of recolors. And you guessed it, they are fully recolorable.

Something else always bothered me about the wings. Based on the ones available, you could either have some that were outstretched at all times, OR, you could have some that were folded down at all times. However, neither of these looked the same, so if you changed from one to the other, it looked like you Sim had suddenly mutated their own wings. So I decided once I could get the Outstretched Wings working, I'd also create some that were folded down. Let's face it, if you had wings, wouldn't you get tired holding them out straight at all times? Therefore, I bring you, SynapticSim's Folded Wings Accessory!

Now, you might still be asking yourself what's so special about these wings? Well, that's my favorite part! Some of the wings out there are attached to the sim via a central point on the back, or even assigned to the sims body via the head. My wings however are assigned seperately to the shoulderblade on each respective side. What does this mean for you? When your Sim moves their left arm, the left wing will go in a similar direction, and visa versa. When in action, it almost looks as if the wings act independently of themselves. This also means no more wings suddenly shooting through the abdomen of the sim wearing them. It really must be seen to understand, lol.

These are wearable with all categories of clothing and can also be worn with other accessories!

Obviously, there isn't a way around the fact that the wings will move through walls, furniture, and even sims. Sorry, but there's just no way to prevent that.

Unfortunately, attaching these wings to your sims will not enable them to fly. However, combine my wings with MajorJeff's SimMacFly Potion HERE and you should have an awesome time watching your winged sims fly!

Policy:

You may include this mesh with your uploads, but please give credit to me, SynapticSim and provide a link either to this thread, or to my site, SynapticSim's Lair: http://s11.zetaboards.com/SynapticSims_Lair/index/ I would also love to see what you've done, so send me a PM or something

You may NOT include this mesh on any Paysite or The Exchange.

Please Enjoy!

~ Syn

Nothing against the other creators, but these are the best wings no doubt! Great work!

Do you think you could also make a version for children? Angel wings would be just the right thing for the little cuties, don't you agree?

I agree children wings would be great. This is only my third successful accessory mesh, so I'm still quite fresh in that area. Toddler and Children are a bit different than Teens through Adults. I hope to make these for all ages at some point, but that might be a little ways away.

No, sorry hewidanda, the sims can not fly when wearing these wings. That would be awesome though.

Could you make a mesh for bat wings or dragon wings? The only dragon-type wings I've seen are for adult males only.

Heya daydream_queen! No need for a new mesh, a creator at my site made some awesome dragon type wings. They are available for males and females, Teen thru Elder.

You can get them Here at my site SynapticSim's Lair or he alternatively uploaded them to the new InSim Here.

Beautiful work.

Just throwing this out there, I know nothing about animations or hardcore hacking, but could the animations from the witch's broom from AL be somehow applied to these to make it appear as though sims could fly? Or from the basegame, the animations for Captain Hero going to work (top of the Law Enforcement career track)? Or, perhaps most obviously, the flying animations from the parrots themselves?

Yeah, wandersfar, that's WAY beyond my abilities with this game, lol. There is the SimMacFly Potion by Major Jeff that does allow your sims to fly that I had totally forgotten about until I read your post. If you attach my wings to the sim and then have them use this potion then you should have a great time!

Get the Potion here: http://www.modthesims2.com/download.php?t=169139

Thanks for the all category wearable wings. I started to wonder why haven't you made the two meshes so they read the same recolors. So if somebody recolors this, or the other both versions benefit from it, not just one of them. (?)
I think it was a good brainstorming :-)

I just downloaded all four archives. Is there any reason I should not install all four?

Antira, I think what you are talking about is making the recolors a slave to both meshes so one recolor goes to both meshes. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea how to do this, or even if it's possible since there are two meshes. I'm very new to accessory meshing, so I fear that this is beyond my capabilities. It took me about three weeks just to get these working.

GeneralOperationsDirector, you can install all four with no problems. The Mesh file and the original colors (which are not wearable in the underwear, PJ's, and swimming categories of clothing) are in the first two archives. The ALL CATEGORY Archives (which will stay on your sim no matter what clothing they have on, or even if nude) contains recolors that will replace the recolors in the first two files.

But somewhere I've seen a mod to make sims fly, sth. like a potion to drink. I just can't remember where and what it was called...

EDIT: Haha, ok, SynapticSim already linked it. Here's the link one more time: http://www.modthesims2.com/download.php?t=169139
