This is a Maxis Recolour which means that it is a recolour of an item that already exists in your game. Please check the Expansion pack requirements to see which game pack it recolours.

This custom content if it is not clothing, may require a seperate download to work properly. This is available at Colour Enable Package (CEP) by Numenor.

Bedding Replacements?

Inspired by a WCIF thread on S2C, I got to thinking how 95% of the Maxis beddings are, in my opinion, either unusable due to being too distinctive, or downright fugly. So, in my inspiration, I decided to replace them.

All of them.

Yes, all of them.

Okay maybe not -all- of them as I don't have Teen Style Stuff and I know there's a few in that, but all the rest anyway.

However, I know that some people may want to keep some of the Maxis beddings, so I have made my default replacements such that you can pick and choose which you may want to replace.

I have tried to keep most of the beddings fairly close in overall colour and style to the originals, so that rooms already using the Maxis beddings will suddenly not go totally mismatched. The main differences are the "stripes" bedding (which went from the zwtf pastel-and-black diagonal stripes horrorshow to a nice black pinstripe with white sheets) and the two "circles" bedding which you will recognize as the "seriously wtf is that horrible thing" beddings. Also, the "mountain" bedding from Bon Voyage - shades of blue with black quilted animals and trees - has turned into a nice forest green as, well, there was no forest green and I already had several blues, and because I wanted to.

Details/Which Files to Download:

Please see my screenshots - the images in the top rows are the Maxis beddings and they are labeled with the Maxis names for that type of bedding. The default rar files have the same names so you can pick and choose which beddings you want to replace. I also have included a rar of all the beddings if you just want to replace everything.

Bon Voyage is required only for the files that say, unsurprisingly, Bon Voyage, and Pets is required only for the files that say Pets. There's also a file with all of them including the Pets and BV beddings too if you want the whole shebang.

And because I know people would complain that they don't want to replace certain ones but they still want to use my beddings... all of my replacement beddings are available as non-default, regular, custom beddings and are clearly labeled with what they are (so you can pick and choose which of those you may or may not want) in the "Non-DefaultCustomBeddings-ALL.rar" file.

Regenerating Thumbnails:

You will notice that when you go into the game, thumbnails with beddings will still look like the old ones. If you would like the thumbnails to regenerate so you can see the new beddings in them, ctrl-right click on the thumbnail to get it to regenerate.

Thanks to:

Quaxi and everyone else who has contributed to the development of SimPE.
Everyone who gave their opinions on my thread on this on S2C.
darter1234, for the original bedding template that I modified to make my textures template.

MTS2 and the rest of the staff, especially Delphy (and especially especially D for delightful random "creative breaks" tee hee) for having such a lovely place I could learn to make pretty things for pixel dollies.

Recolouring (for Creators):

If you would like to make more beddings based on these textures, feel free to do so - I have attached a file for creators only which includes my layer-separated .psd with the textures I have used. It may be a little bit confusing but it's a heck of a lot easier than starting from scratch.

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

When I use these on a single bed, I get a white stripe down the middle of the bed. Perhaps you could fix this, so my teen sims can enjoy simple bedding, too?

Thanks for all of your great work!

SunnyMonster - Do you have your graphics settings turned up? I've tested them on single beds and they're definitely seamless. Just to be sure, I looked in-game and the only one that has any semblance of a white line is the black bedding with pinstripes - which is meant to have white lines. I'm guessing this may be a graphics issue or something, because my beddings are okay.

I do have the graphics settings turned up, but my computer glitches up the graphics something terrible anyway, so that's probably it. That makes more sense, anyway-- I'd found it hard to believe that you wouldn't have checked these on single beds, since your work is always so high-quality. It's weird, though; I've never noticed this with other custom beddings. Oh well!

I am Getting the Same 'Glitch' too, I'll fumble around for a pic, But it seems like as how the Bedding Templates and such are set up, When you zoom out, More of the texture is needed, so white is being drawn from somewhere? Total guess, (I din't have much skill in Beddings as you might never/do/-ish/not know :D)

I DON'T regually experiance these things with any other object, and my Graphics settings are on FULL.

Its not a Major Problem, Just wanted to Bring it to the 'TWO PEOPLE' mark :D

Much Grad.

EDIT: Pics always help!

PETCHY14 and SunnyMonster -

Looks like it's an issue with the smaller mipmapping - there are less pixels to work with and it's blending a couple of them together. I have only been able to reproduce it at quite far zoom levels - which is why I never saw it in the first place before uploading these - I looked zoomed in checking the textures for seamlessness and stuff but didn't zoom out that far.

I don't even know if it -can- be fixed and if it would I think the amount of effort to do so outweighs the minor annoyance of it - I can't imagine anyone taking pictures that far away, so I'm just gonna shrug and ignore it.

HomestarRunner20X6 - Actually, they -are- seamless for the single beds... it's just that because of the way importing textures works, they develop a small seam when you zoom out to far zoom levels. It's such a minor thing and only happens on far zooms (and never at any zoom level that you would be taking pictures) that I'm not going to bother trying to fix it when I'm not even sure I -can-.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU.

These are awesome. I've always wondered what the Maxis designers were smoking to make them come up with such horrible bedding, and now I don't even have to -look- at them.

Very well done!

Please feel free to upload my walls and floors in your finished lots as long as they are not offered on any paysites, TSR, or the Exchange. You may recolour them as long as you give credit and link back to the original.
