I will no longer be watching the comments page after The Sims 4 launches on September 4, 2014.

Translations:

Summary:
The Sims 3 Crash Log Analyzer (CLA) parses crash logs (xcpt*.txt) in the the Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 directory. It then attempts to discover what most likely caused the crash which CLA displays under the "Likely Cause" column.

This is a tool to help diagnose crashes. It is not a miracle worker.

System Requirements:
-Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 Client Profile. Mac OS X is not supported.
-An internet connection is required to get the names of The Sims 3 executables. If you don't have an internet connection, it will ask for a "*.plf" file. Download the current version here and point to it when it requests it.

Usage:
Upon opening CLA, you will see a list of crashes and their likely causes. You can click on the corresponding buttons under solutions for assistance in solving those specific issues. If you are getting a lot of "Unknowns," you may either click on "Export to Text File" which prompts you to save it or click on "Copy BB Code" which copies the data to your clipboard to be pasted in the comments (see below) or the official Sims 3 Forums.

CLA does not delete any logs by default. If you wish to delete the logs, you can do so under the File menu.

Please note that download threads are not for game help and support.

While this program can be helpful in troubleshooting certain issues with your game, download threads are not meant to provide solutions to game problems. Please do not post your crash log stuff here to ask for further help - please use the Help section here at MTS, starting with this: Game Help:Sims 3 Game Problemwiki and following the instructions, each step, in order. This FAQ: Game Help:Sims 3 Crashingwiki can also be helpful. If you continue to have problems even after trying ALL of the steps in the above-linked two FAQs, you can post a new thread in the Help Q&A forums (there's a link at the top of every FAQ) and we will be happy to offer you help for your problems one-on-one. Make sure to include a detailed list of everything you've tried to fix the problem (not just "I've done the FAQs" but a description of the steps you took, in your own words) as well as the summary version of your system specs, using the form you can copy-paste from this page: Game Help:System Specswiki

Unknown Crashes:
If you are getting a lot of unknown crashes, you can use the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the results in the comments section.

This information may be used to expand the library of crashes the application can recognize.

Please be aware that is it very unlikely reporting unknown crashes will result in good, immediate advice to fix the crashes. I would recommend looking here for a list of things to try to fix the problem. If you happen to figure out what fixed the crashes you reported previously, please provide an update so that I can perhaps automate the detection of that specific type of crash for people that experience the same problem.

Hmm, interesting. Does that program have an installer or something so I can easily tell if it is installed on the computer? I could make CLA warn of the conflict if it is installed.

Well, it figures correct that the game is likely running out of RAM and crashing because of it. You have 8 GiB RAM, large address aware enabled, and a 64-bit OS--there's nothing else you can do to increase the amount of RAM the game has available to it.

So, your only option is to decrease RAM usage. If one of those custom content are, for example, a high res texture pack, get rid of it. Otherwise, try lowering some of the settings in The Sims 3 especially things like draw distance. Hopefully you'll be able to find enough memory to free up so it doesn't crash anymore.

I never thought of that. I thought it was world adventures at first so I uninstalled it. I don't have any high res mods but I will look through waht I do have and see if any are too large. Thank you.

I have no idea why it's been crashing. Before I got the error that it wasn't updated to the lastest version (even though it was). After I patched, the game still continues as normal but about 10 minutes in crashes to desktop. Thought it was core mods but I still have issues.

Hello and thank you for this amazing program
I'll give you a back story here as i'm a bit confused.
When I got ST i was experiencing staggering/freezes and crashes in SS, but as many people seemed to have issues i didn't pay much attention. I noticed though that I usually crashed after a successful simfest , which by the way were rare for me , as they would mostly reset for some reason. Looked it up and found out Twallan's SP was messing with simfests. I took the mod out and went ahead to update and then test my world for ST. No staggering or freezing at all here. I assumed that the world was more stable than SS and moved on.
2-3 days ago a friend of mine told me that with the new version of SP, she was no longer having issues with simfests. So i plop version 218 in my game to test it out. staggering and freezing came back, and I finally get a hard freeze and a crash during a simfest. I immidiately blame game memory leaks and SP pushing the issue more, as at the time of the crash i had 88% memory usage ( computer with Norton Internet Securty , Norton Utilities (idle),Vista side bar, several backround tasks running and opera with about 5 tabs open uses about 25-30% tops - when the game is not running)
Then I come across this program.. And all hell breaks loose in my head...
As soon as it run the log file it tells me that several of my EPs and SPs are not up to date...How is this possible? Even if i missed a patch ( i know i never did) I got the latest SUPERpatch from launcher. I know that at some point we were getting patches that patched only the latest EP/SP and base game, so maybe something there went wrong. If i Had LN for example when someone else had OLS his OLS would be patched and mine wouldn't because the patch would patch my LN only.
I then save the file in a txt and go to bed. however after checking the file again today I noticed something that didn't show up in the program yesterday. Besides listing my "missing " patches, as a crash reason it instead has [WARNING CUSTOM CONTENT].. So what the heck is wrong? is it SP? or my patches?
Base game version 1.33 (super patched through launcher)

ETA: Note that the program lists for some reason that My GC has 1GB memory. This is false. My GC has 2GB memory
I'm trying to gather as much info as possible on these issues , so i can give more info to Twallan, if this is indeed an SP issue

CLA addresses problems in a specific order telling you to eliminate the easiest first and then moving on to the more complex issues.

It sounds to me like you already got it narrowed down to "Twalan's SP." If you want to update everything, you can, but it likely won't change anything.

Slowness could be related to using virtual memory instead of memory. Cutting back on custom content, especially the ones that require a lot of memory, is what I would recommend.

it seems that i get Slowness only When Twallan's SP is installed (excluding some really buggy EA worlds like Bridgeport) I did update everything earlier,( thanks to your patch downloader ) but i'm now shorting my CC and deleting the ones i do not need. But i really need to make sure that it is SP before having Twallan trying to short out an issue that could possibly not exist. Thanx for the help

By the way what is considered a cc that requires a lot of memory? I assume that probably mods would make the cut for it, but I have only 5 (all by Twallan) i cannot live without

You could run the game windowed, have the task manager open, and glance at it once in a while with and without mods. It should give you an idea of how much more memory the mods are requiring. It's an imperfect science as far as custom content is concerned--mostly trial and error.

thank you . I might try that. For now after some clean up I managed to cut out 500MB of my DDCashe File. (most of the remaining stuff are store content though) I'll see how that goes.

OK so I fixed my insuficient memory problem but now its custom content. I have tried removing all my mods but it stills crashes. Could there be a hidden one, or is there a way to decifer the info to find out exactly which cc is doing it?
Here is the info. Thanks.

If it crashed without any custom content, I think your integrated graphics might be to blame. Weak graphics devices are known not to work well with Pets.

You're running a pirated version of the game.

I'm getting unknown crashes in game. They only tend to happen after my PC has been on for a little while. DEP is set, I patched the individual EPs to their latest version which did not help (as well as the latest 1.33 mega-patch), and I've changed graphics settings all the way down for testing. I've reinstalled DirectX and the entire game from the ground up and I'm still getting these crashes. I tried starting from a base game (deleting the My Documents/TS3 directory). I've tried deleting my cache folders. Also the game crashes more frequently the more times I rerun it after the initial failure. This can lead to a corrupted Windows file on reboot. (I have to run a file repair before Windows will start again.)

My crashes vary from a memory BSOD to just crash to desktop. In rare instances the system crashes to a reboot. If this happens the Windows corruption always occurs.
This may be nothing, but my boot drive is an SSD.

Here is the CLA log.

nvd3dum.dll...that's a first, and the NVIDIA 3D driver. BSOD means there's a hardware or driver issue.

I would focus on your graphics card. It might be overheating, might have buggy drivers, maybe doesn't have stable enough power sent to it from the power supply, or the card could just be plain faulty.

First thing I would do is try different drivers (older, newer, beta). Second thing I would do is make sure 3D options are disabled in NVIDIA's control panel. Third thing I would do is run FurMark to test for heat and instability. Fourth thing I would do is move the video card to a different PCI Express x16 slot if your mainboard has more than one then run FurMark again. If there is instability, I would send the card back to the retailer/manufacturer. If it were overheating (anything exceeding 100C is bad), make sure there is no dust built up in and make sure the fan(s) are spinning.

Do you have specifc data from the BSODs like the stop code and faulting module? If they also say nvd3dum.dll then there's a very good chance the graphics card is the heart of the problem. If it says something else, the problem might be deeper than the graphics card and the display driver is just the victim.

I have yet to try different drivers, mine are the newest.
My power supply had better be fine, it's a 1200Watt with an exclusive rail for the graphics card. I've also not seen any artifacting that would indicate a bad GPU.
When you say 3D options I assume you mean 3D display options as opposed to normal filtering. Yes that is disabled.
As far as three and four go, my GTX580 is the factory water cooled version. It's FurMark score is troubling though.

My temps never climbed above 43C during the 1920x1080 burn-in. My framerate however was only 20fps (min 19fps, max 21fps) The benchmarks they provide say I should hit around 40 which makes me wonder what's going on.

As for the BSOD error, it's a memory dump and I'd have to get the exact stop code. Normally I'd suggest that the memory dump was caused by insufficent virtual memory but that's fine as well. (Even the CLA indicates as much.)

Hope that helps a little.

I would try beta drivers and run FurMark again to see if there is any change in the FPS. If there is no change, I'd try drivers from a month or two ago and check FurMark again.

I've tried several different drivers including the beta driver and have not seen a change. FurMark will not improve and for most of the drivers, worsens to 10fps. TS3 is still crashing with the following report from the CLA.

The card might be defective. I would open an RMA with the retailer/manufacturer.
