While studying DBPF packages I developed this application under C# using Visual Studio.

I made it a time ago and it was available on my blog, and I was going to upload it to MTS but did not had much time to post it all again. Anyway, here it is.

It's a drag&drop Sims3Pack extractor.

Similar with Delphy's Multi Installer;
They share the same purpose, the difference is that mine can be ran through batch scripts or by simply dragging the Sim3Packs you want to the program file.

I created a GUI where you can change the default settings, such as:
  • Set a custom Extraction Directory;
  • Add a handler when you right-click with any Sims3Pack to extract them;
  • Integrate the program to Pescado's s3rc;
    • Attempt to fix or/and decrapify the generated package;

Requirements
- .NET Framework v2.0.50727 | Or grab the latest (v4.0.30319) here (Recommended)

Usage

Extract the executable with WinRar or 7Zip
Run the executable to change the default settings.
Simply drag&drop Sims3Packs into the program file.

Or, if you added a handler to the Sims3Pack extension, right-click the Sims3Packs and click "Extract with S3CE".

CommandLine Usage
> s3ce "file1.Sims3Pack" "file2.Sims3Pack" ... "fileN.Sims3Pack"
> s3ce * folder1\* folder2\* ... folderN\*
Quotes in the filename are only necessary if it contains space characters.

Change Log
  • v1.1.0.388
    • Custom Icon
  • v1.1.0.387
    • If S3RC Integration is enabled, wait until it finishes.
    • Added Custom Icon to the Windows Shell
    • Basic Tab-change Windows Form fix
  • v1.1.0.0
    • Implemented integrated-wildcard arguments
    • Improved memory flow
  • v1.0.13.9080
    • Added exceptions to registry operations
    • Defined defaults for settings
    • Fixed small typos on tooltips
  • v1.0.12.9021
    • First Build
  • v0.9.5.3012
    • First Beta Build

Any doubts just leave a comment and I will reply as soon as possible.

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.

For Package files:

1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

For Sims3Pack files:

1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.

I can't even begin to thank you enough for the fact that it maintains the file name! I have so many extracted sims3pack files that are just a mess of random characters that I have no clue what they are... This will certainly be the new way I handle pack files. Thank you!

Hi, I downloaded your program, but I don't understand how to use it. Give some examples about the names of directories, which I should configure after extracting the zipped files. Give some more detailed instructions for newbies like me.
And I have some questions:
1. Does this tool clash with Custom Launcher, which I use for the package files?
2.Does this tool clash with some mods (Twallan's or awesome)?
3.Can this tool install multiple files?

Could you make a version that doesn't need admin rights every run?

Thanks so much for this awesome extractor. I downloaded it a while ago and I use it all the time! I love how you can extract packages from (multiple) Sim3packs just using the context menu. And the integration with S3RC really saves me a lot of time!

I love this tool! Thank you!

I created a batch file that calls RigFix instead of s3rc and now I am using this to both extract the package and fix it right away. Saves huge amount of time!

Thanks alot for this!

Since a week i was having weird problems with the launcher (i know using the game launcher..tss tss) that would "install" my downloads, but in game there was nothing, and each time i restarted the game, the downloads were always uninstalled.

So, thanks alot for your tool, its a great work around with something i know that will work well. (Yay for packages!) The tool works like a charm, really easy to use.

Simple question: does it works with patterns too and store items? Just want to know before i bork my game once again.

Attempting to run this from the command line under Windows 7 results in a "Permission denied" error. I assume this is because it needs administrator rights, as zaide_chris mentioned. (Why? It is only modifying a file in my document folder.)

Is there a way to solve this? If not, this program is useless to me.

I have a program to help organize my CC, and I want it to unpack sims3pack files 1 at a time (so that it can keep track of which package came from which sims3pack). Delphy's multi installer works great, but having to click the button for each of hundreds of files is a pain and takes forever. I really want a command line extractor. This appears to be exactly what I am looking for, if only I can make it work under Windows 7.

@danceguy
If you call "set __COMPAT_LAYER=RUNASINVOKER" on your command line before calling this it should be forced to run with out admin rights. Should work in bat files too.

Thank you so much for this! I totally love it - and the fact it puts sims3pack extracted files into already named folders when it has more than one package inside.. it is saving me loads of time and do not have to do it one by one and manually make folders - like with delphy's (but I do love his stuff so not complaining or anything)
my question is - how many sims3pack files is safe to drop onto the program at once? I have dropped 30 so far :-) but I wonder if it can handle many many more? thanks and wow! I do love this program - saving me soooo much time!
