great car! not really a person who knows lots about cars (truthfully Ive never head of a mini cooper) but still, awesome car. I am insulted the way you said "or a hood for you Americans out there" that's like saying to us 'Americans' (which you seem to say like there's only five Americans out there.) that were stupid. sure some of us didn't know what a bonnet was (i thought it was a type of hat...) but still theres a better way to think of it. Im not mad, but im sure if you post things like that where millions of americans will see, i dont think youll get many positive comments. thanks 4 the car anyways lol!

Well, it was certainly not my intention to offend - it was meant to be tongue in cheek - I am not American, and so I use the old fashioned English word. Regarding your hurt feelings on what you interpreted as my derogatory meaning in the phrase "Americans out there" - well, I think the whole point of this comments exchange is that we both speak a language we call English and yet quite often English /American speakers can still have a misunderstanding.

My apologies to any Americans who may have stumbled across my upload and been offended by it, and yes, I do you take you seriously Renemsee, but I will not be changing the text of the post unless I see a flood of complaints, or the site owner asks me to.

Re a type of hat, indeed, a bonnet is also a kind of hat, rather like a hood can also be seen as a kind of hat. These two variants of the English language (American English and British English) are perhaps not so far apart after all.

lol about the bonnet... I am American, I own a Mini (Brittish racing green) and am aware that the "hood" is often referred to as a bonnet. I found nothing offensive in your explanation.
