I did find a tutorial for hair binning here - it doesn't look like something the average user would want to tackle. I use SimPE regularly but have never been able to get on with DatGen.

In any event, as maybesomethingdunno suggests, it doesn't hurt to have options. Having one person do this and uploading it as an alternative surely makes more sense than having several people stumble through it on their own. That one person would not have to be DJ_Mur3.

So... don't worry too much about the nitpicking. Keep up the good work.
Well of course I wouldn't agree that this is nitpicking. The issues of genetic hair inheritance and broadening random hair generation for townies both affect the game's realism. This thread is an interesting jumping off point in the colour bins discussion. Sorry for the digression... and again thank you DJ for the great results!

Well, for me, the point is that I don't even play the game. If I did, believe me, I would color bin them. :P

Sorry y'all. :D

Oh that's really neat DJ - doing the art for its own sake! I'm impressed!

Great idea, thanks. It'll be nice to have a universal-type hairstyle that has realistic looking bangs.

Thank you so much for this cute short style. I told PaigeTurnerSims that you two are the greatest for offering these conversions that don't hang down over the face. It seems the Long hair and Anime hair influence is consuming the styles being offered now. I like them, especially Seomi's, but I still like the 'Simple' ones best. If I go to the trouble of finding the perfect eyes and make-up for my Sims - I want to see the results. I know how painstaking your effort is to convert all the colors and all the ages within each color - I thank you for your contributions.

Adorable! Now I just have to wait for all the "unnatural"-hued repaints. . . *hopes*

For me, this hair shows up identically on both males and females of all ages - looking very natural about midway down the forehead. Perhaps there is GUID or other conflict with one of the other hair meshes on your system. Are all ages affected with this problem?

Default DJ_Mur3 "Simple" Hair, Colour Binned
With DJ_Mur3's kind permission, I am posting a colour binned version of this popular design. I used Theo's Color Binning Tool, a SimPE plugin, downloaded from More Awesome Than You. I had compression turned on, and produced one texture file for males and one for females. I have included the mesh files in the archive since they are quite small, so this is the only download you need if you prefer a colour binned version.

If you previously downloaded this design and now decide to install this colour binned version, you will need to move DJ_Mur3's original files to a backup folder where the Sims 2 will not be able to find it. The original files that need to be moved are:

57d1307a_simplem.package
73428d77_simplef.package
a1961070_simplef.package
d3ed076_simplem.package
d45d641a_simplef.package
d84d9f9e_simplem.package
dac714cd_simplem.package
dcbc1d6f_simplef.package

I tested the colour binned versions both in game and in Body Shop, for both genders, all colours and all ages. If you find any problems with the files in this format, please contact me rather than DJ_Mur3.

Cheers - David

I love this hair, thank you so much! You are really good, I think I have downloaded all your hair meshes that I have come across so far.

edit - thank you for the binned hair, and instructions on which to remove. Very helpful. :lovestruc

Excellent work! I grabbed AlexPilgrim's recolours, but I kept yours too :D. Actually, your lighter brown colour is just perfect for the sim I made of my friend Ryan, who has this hairstyle in real life .

Thank you for doing this. I am one of those Non tech scared of Sim pe types so this is greatly appriciated.

Thank you DJ Mur for the work you have done I thanked but well hated to have folks thinking I was not thankful or worse yet rude.
This is a darling style.

Lovely, lovely hairstyle. I also especially like that Sophie-David did a binned version. xD Thanks for that.
Thanks for putting this up and converting the meshes, also. This is a wonderful style. ^^;''

Thank you DJ for converting this hairstyle for adults. I love it paired up with the sideburns for males.

And thank you, Sophie, for color-binning it! I prefer color-binned hair, but I do not know how and really do not have the time to teach myself. Thanks again.

eeyore - If you use the color binned ones in this post:

It creates eight files. I think you would delete these three to remove the female files: a1961070simplefB (f=female), mesh_djafsimple040706 (adult female), and mesh_djtfsimple040706 (teen female). The children files appear to be unisex (...djcu...) as are the toddlers (...djpu...).

Although doing this messed up the CAS hair options for those deleted ones giving a picture of the face and missing hair on the bald head, so I don't recommend that. Either put it all in or leave it all out is my advice.

Thanks a lot for sharing, this is such a great idea, it looks phantastic!
And thanks bunches to Sophie-David as I definitely prefer colour binned hair but wouldn't try to do that myself!
